To not want my children in wraparound care?

There’s no way to avoid it of course unless I give up work until my youngest is leaving primary but does anyone else hate the thought of wraparound care? The school day is long enough for little ones and I feel guilty. I know I wouldn’t have liked it.

My primary ages DS enjoys wraparound. He does after school club 3 days a week and breakfast club on 2 of those 3 days. He has made so many friends from outside of his own year group from it, and as PP say - it's basically just chilling out and playing with mates. Especially in summer as after school club let them play out on the field the whole time and so DS just plays football which he loves.

It never felt like a long day to DS. He went to nursery 8-5:30 before primary school so if anything his hours are shorter now!

He's going into yr4 in sept and he's been absolutely fine.

I think it really depends on your child's personality.

DD absolutely loved after school care. I juggled my work hours so that I could be there to pick her up twice a week - but I got a massive sigh and eye roll when she saw me.

DS hated ASC. He was an introvert, and a home body. He tolerated it, because needs must - but he would much rather have been at home.

As working parents, you just need to make it work.
