To not want floor wipes in same bag as cakes and ice cream

Received my Ocado delivery today and my citrus floor wipes were in the same carrier bag as my cakes and ice cream. One of the floor wipes pack was leaking slightly. Although nothing was ruined I was charged for 7 carriers and there were only 6. Had there been 7 the wipes would have been in a separate carrier. Should I complain or shut up and stop moaning?

Ocado make it easy to request refunds on their website and never challenge them in my experience. I would submit anything relevant there and forget it.

However, I used to use Ocado for years and stopped a couple of years ago because the service changed dramatically. Always lots of squashed things / heavy items packed on top of fruit, etc. I was always asking for refunds and in the end switched to Waitrose, who are consistently great.

This might be the most MC post I have ever written but it's true nonetheless :)

Can’t believe so many people are so blasé about the condition of their food and would not bat an eyelid if it arrived damaged and tainted with cleaning product… wow. 🤯

The OP states in the OP that nothing was ruined. If my shopping arrived and nothing was ruined, I'd simply get on with my day.

I have brain cancer and I don't want to get sick from ingesting liquid from floor wipes. I also think other people wouldn't want to ingest floor wipes?

Sorry to hear that, but presumably your cakes and ice cream were in containers and not just sloshing around in the bag in a weird dessert soup, and you therefore wouldn’t have been at risk of ingesting anything.

Also, your leaking floor wipes were clearly a one-off and not something that happens regularly, so it would completely disproportionate to bag them separately every time.

I completely get it OP. Ocado customer services are excellent if you want to complain or request a refund. I was told just yesterday by a driver that a machine tells the packers how to pack the bags. He was saying how ridiculous the combinations in bags are and he has frequently had bleach in the bag with bread or heavy items in with delicate ones.
Still the best online grocery though in my experience.

So I usually go to the supermarket for my shopping (or to "get the messages" as my mum used to say!). I have a packing method. A bag for raw meat (yes it's all prepackaged but the potential for leakage is always there). A bag for fruit and veg - hard items such as carrots first, and lastly soft items such as bananas. A bag for "dry" items such as cereal, jam, bread etc. And a bag for cleaning items, as, again, the potential for leakage is always there.

Do those of you who disagree with the OP have any such method, or do you just fling everything in willy nilly? I'm doing my own grocery shopping for about 45 years now, this is the method my mum taught me.

OP - it sounds like complaining to Ocado will achieve a positive outcome, so go for it. Some mean responses on here. 💐

For a big shop I’d vaguely group together items that belong in the fridge/freezer/cleaning cupboard (mostly they come off the conveyor in that order anyway) but often just pick up a few random items and chuck them in the bag. If there was space in the cleaning product bag I’d have no issue putting bread or fruit or anything else in there to fill it. My husband puts things randomly in bags no matter the size of the shop - absolutely no method and I can’t say we’ve come to any harm!

Until you've ate the cakes you don't know.

Yabu for using single use wipes which end up in landfill.

As a brain cancer sufferer I can't lift a bucket to use a mop. The wipes fit onto my flash speedmop and I can be independent.

Request a refund for all leaked on items and they will refund you

if you still not happy do an online chat to customer services and you will very likely get a voucher as well

You do what you need to to get through - ignore the people who just want to drag you down

@Wonderwoman98

Ah just seen you've edited your post and my comment makes no sense😆

Don't worry - we can all see what she wrote.

For anyone who missed it, @Wonderwoman98 posted this pithy and insightful comment "you should grow up", but then realised what a lazy, unoriginal and nasty post it was so decided to undo it.
