Currently searching for a new property in West Sussex as we are re-locating for DH's job and came across this gem on RightMove...

Wait until the last aerial photo...

Lovely house potentially, but it needs a massive refurb, regardless of all the development shenanigans

Link is working for me now. Even without the planning problem they’re having a laugh with “beautifully presented” aren’t they? Seems dated to me, tiny kitchen, carpet in the bathroom.

Yeah Estate Agent's say any old shite, they must think people are stupid

wavingfuriously · 04/07/2024 17:18

No way!

mybeesarealive · 04/07/2024 17:19

Should have fenced off the retained land and prepared a new plan for the sale. Would have looked better from marketing perspective.

theredspindletree · 04/07/2024 17:21

We did this but we sold the land on the basis the builders completed the new build in a year in case we wanted to sell ourselves - at the moment we are just looking but the new house is there and looks fine. I def wouldn't buy the house before the new build as you wouldn't know how the building would affect your light and how much it would overlook.

Thedayb4youcame · 04/07/2024 17:22

For the money, I'd certainly want much easier access from kitchen to dining room...and yet dining room is behind the kitchen wall where the hob is, and yet not even a hatch.

Looking at floorplan, to get from kitchen to dining room, there's a total of four doors, two hallways, and a snug to be be negotiated.

Biggleslefae · 04/07/2024 17:26

They've already knocked off 100k and STILL no takers:
Price Change History
03/05/2024 Price changed from £1,100,000 to £1,000,000
28/03/2024 Initial asking price: £1,100,000
Overall change: -9.1% (-£100,000)

I know the people who own this house…

Is it your house?

MushroomPancake · 04/07/2024 17:33

Catnipcupcakes · 04/07/2024 17:31

Is it your house?

Nope

WellwellwellInever · 04/07/2024 17:36

Typical house of that era too. Small kitchen for the good lady wife to prepare food and large dinning and sitting areas for the important men to entertain.

Nanaof1 · 04/07/2024 17:42

I am not sure if I am reading the floorplan correctly. Is there a way to get from the garage to the main part of the house? Or is it just the office?

As a PP mentioned, that is quite a trip from the kitchen to the dining room. The food would be cold by the time you carried it that far. (KIDDING)

Poppysmom22 · 04/07/2024 17:43

Hmm it would depend on the land rules for the area tbh if someone’s got planning for a Mac mansion on the plot then nope but if it’s for sale separately and could be included then yes

Nanaof1 · 04/07/2024 17:46

What is the white tent looking structure in the back garden? Are there any other outbuildings?

I’m amazed that people near me buy houses for millions which are overlooked and have almost no garden.

BrendaSmall · 04/07/2024 17:58

Is there planning permission on the land?

TorroFerney · 04/07/2024 17:58

Apologies if someone has already said this as I haven't read all the thread but those stairs up to the attic behind the door are giving me Ann Frank vibes.

This house has been up for sale for over 10 years and probably nearer 15

Because its absolutely hideous? I haven’t even looked at the price, I don’t need to.

GingerPirate · 04/07/2024 18:05

Gah.
Cannot wait to get a decent apartment back in my country of origin.
And live just by myself.
That vast amount of space would give me anxiety.

If you look again, you will see there is no access to anywhere from the garage. It seems to be just a door at the front, a totally self-contained space.

As is the office, which I sort-of like as it would mean work and home are two very seperate spaces. Great for meeting clients at home.

It was me who spoke about the kitchen. I could well imagine someone tripping over toys while carrying a turkey through on Christmas day...I never thought I'd see the day, but a hostess trolley would be quite the boon here.

WeeOrcadian · 04/07/2024 18:06

They want to decide if it's 4 or 5 bedroomed - both are mentioned

BrendaSmall · 04/07/2024 17:58

Is there planning permission on the land?

Yes. See upthread I posted a proposed plan as well
