I understand this isn't for everyone but I love a good woo story. Even if you've seen/experienced something but aren't 100% sure and are on the fence, I'd love to hear your stories.

I've had a few experiences myself, nothing majorly scary just in my old house I'd often hear loud clear footsteps when nobody could be there and often saw a shadow figure, sometimes right infront of me and other times in my peripheral so can understand why people think they've seen something but can't be sure. I also worked in a pub that had some poltergeist type activity and various figures had been seen by staff and customers. I'd love to hear yours!

I’m loving these stories! When I was 15, I had a boyfriend that I was absolutely mad about. We only saw each other for a few months and I was devastated when he broke up with me. He went to England not long after and our paths never crossed again even though he came back home a few years later. Fast forward about 30 years and I randomly dreamt about him. He was trying to talk to me in a bar but I was ignoring him. I woke up thinking isn’t that strange after all these years and went about my day. I was driving into town and passed the graveyard on the outskirts. I remembered the dream and thought wouldn’t it be so strange if P was dead and buried in there, at the same time telling myself not to be stupid. When I got home I googled him and his obituary came up, he’d been dead a few years and was buried in the graveyard I had driven past earlier. I nearly shit myself, I had no reason to believe he could be gone in his 40s. I wasn’t the better of it for a long time.

I've always been a sceptic, however I'm a bit more open minded after what happened to me a few years ago.
I was out for the afternoon for a long walk with my now SIL and on the way home we stopped off at a pub for a drink when she spotted a caravan with a sign for Gypsy Rose advertising psychic readings - there was a fun fair set up in the
town.
She announced she was going to have a go, told her to count me out as it was a load of shite and anyhow I needed to catch the bus soon to visit my Grandad in hospital - I was raised by my Grandparents and adored him, he had had a stroke earlier in the week and wasn't great and I spent several hours every evening with him.
She insisted I wait with her, wouldn't be long, I could get the next bus etc.
So I joined her in the Q but stood in the doorway as she went in, where I alternated between sighing loudly, muttering it was a load of rubbish and telling her to hurry up.
The gypsy woman then raised her head, looked at me and said
"I know you're not a believer but you need to believe me when I tell you that you need to go now. He's waiting for you and won't go till you're there. You need to go NOW". My heart just started pounding and I legged it to make the bus I was originally going to get.
When I got to the hospital I was met on the corridor by one of the nurses who exclaimed
"Oh thank god you're here, come quick, he's very agitated and I don't think he has long, your Nan is on her way"
As soon as I held his hands he calmed down, his breathing settled and his face softened. I got 5 minutes with him telling him how much I loved him and how grateful I was for the wonderful life he gave me before he died.

@asco Another story that's made the hairs stand up for me. Sorry for your loss, I'm glad you got to spend the last few moments with him, though. A wish of both of yours that came true ❤how sweet 😢

We have lived in our house over 20 years and the children always seen the same thing when they were little. There is no bad feeling in the house but I have felt very tense lately which I put down to perimenopause and one of my adult children spending nearly a month in hospital last month. Something strange happened about 7 months ago i lay down to go to sleep at 3.30am. I was wide awake it was dark but I heard a man in the room say hi five times. I froze did not dare turn around but wondered next day could it be the ring camera app on my phone and was it hacked. Then about 3 nights ago my son was downstairs awake about 2am I rang him with the landline from upstairs to check if he took his medication. We were talking and I heard his dad in the background saying come on Daisy the words he always says to the dog when he is bringing her out to the back garden. My husband sleeps in another room because of his snoring so i did not think anything of it at first. I said to my son why is your dad bringing her out so late is she okay? He said no he is not downstairs he is in bed. I did not say anymore I did not want to freak my son out. Apart from this the plastic cover on the electric blind in our living room fell off last week. It has been up years and slots over the top never happened before even in stormy weather. It happened when two of our adult children were bickering over a phone charger.

Love a good woo thread! Still very much a sceptic but had an odd thing happen when I was a student.

I had a Saturday job in a bakery in the town I was living in at the time, it’s one of these with very grand Georgian and Victorian terraced buildings. The shop itself must have been a couple of hundred years old. The other staff were older and had worked there a number of years and always used to talk to ‘Harry’, the resident ghost who apparently haunted the row of shops. Obviously used to laugh a bit to myself as I thought it was all a bit daft, they claimed stuff used to move by itself and footsteps were heard all the time. I was in the basement having my break in the manager’s office one afternoon and a massive box of crisps zoomed off a shelf and fell on the floor. No one else could have done it, there was one door in and out of that basement room which I had a clear view of. Obviously everyone said it must have been Harry showing me he was real lol! I wasn’t frightened but the whole thing was very strange I must admit!

Holliegee · 13/07/2024 09:32

I have 3 sons and I had 1 miscarriage.
1st experience- Dp, me and the 3 boys were in a lift with an older couple at the shopping centre, we did our shopping and returned to the lift - the couple were also there returning to their car.
They looked at us and said - where’s your little girl? We laughed and said 3 boys are more than enough - no, they insisted that when we got in the lift there were 6 of us !! And that definitely there’d been a little girl because the husband had said, bet they kept trying and got the girl at last and the woman said she was the image of me !!

2nd experience- quite a few years later youngest ds and I were in a shop, Ds decided to go and get a drink and I stayed in the queue -as I was being served my son came back with his drink and the cashier asked if he’d got his sister one, we told him that there was just us 2 shopping that day and the cashier (a young lad) said that when he looked up to see my son going for a drink
right next to me was a little girl, who looked just like me and he’d assumed she’d gone with my son to get a drink too.

@louise303 May I ask what you your children all saw ?

@holliegee sorry for your loss, but it's really sweet and lovely that she's with you all in spirit and even doing childlike things along with her DB's 😊

Hi when we moved in one of my children was 5 1/2 and seen a man in uniform a year later his brother was born. We never mentioned it put it down to imagination and never thought it was anything spooky. When my younger child was 4 he started talking about seeing a man in uniform in the same bedroom that his sibling saw the man in. He kept talking about the soldier just like his brother did years before. Our older child spent quite a while not wanting to be upstairs on his own when we first moved in.

Thankfully I never saw him and they both grew out of seeing anything in the house.

1- I had a life in a dream. Lived a whole 30ish years, died getting hit by a car and woke up in my bed again aged 19. Had a career, kids, husband, everything. It really messed me up for a long time. I know logically it was just a dream but I do wonder sometimes. Deep down I'm terrified of waking up again like I did before.

2 - When DS was 13 he was with his friends at the park opposite. When he was there DH suddenly got up and ran out of the house yelling something has happened to DSname. He ran straight into DS's friend coming for help because DS fell out of a tree and broke his leg 😲. DH wont even talk about it it freaks him out so much. Theres no way he could have seen or heard anything either 🥴 .

That reminds me of the story called the Red Lamp. It’s very interesting you should definitely google it.

@Minimili I’m sure I could smell my dad’s cancer too. Would walk into the sitting room he had been sat in and there was a peculiar sweet smell, like he was chewing sweets, pear drops. It was only him in there and he never ate in the sitting room (neither did me or DM).
He hadn’t yet been diagnosed and wasn’t having treatment. He passed away from pancreatic cancer a few months later.

My mum had type 3c diabetes, caused by pancreatic cancer. If she hadn't taken her insulin she smelled like pear drops.
I've worked with a couple of diabetic children and they smell like pear drops when their sugars are too high too. Diabetes nurse said its quite common.

So yeah, untreated pancreatic cancer would quite possibly smell pear drop like too.

I thought the same when I read this, my mum also developed diabetes from late stage pancreatic cancer. My sil also had diabetes so I know the pear drop smell is from high sugar levels.

I grew up in a house which had been in our family for about 100 years. There was only one full length mirror in the house so whenever I wanted to dress up or look at myself I'd go to that mirror. Every single time, I could feel someone's hands on my face, like when an adult cups a child's face to look at them. I also saw lots of dog ghosts walking around the house (our house had been a kennels), I found it strangely comforting. I also had an imaginary friend growing up - I wonder now if it was maybe a spirit?
Years and years later, I was at a psychic event and the psychic told me that I had psychic powers but that I was choosing to ignore them (I definitely didn't want them!). He also described my 'spirit guide' to me and I recognised him as an ancestor I had been researching. The details were quite amazing!
I went to a Psychic stage show by quite a famous 'Psychic to the Stars' and she said a word to me (in another language) that she couldn't possibly have known had a connection to me. Very strange.
I worked in a shop in my teens at weekends and the storeroom was always freezing, despite having the heating on. Things would all of a sudden fling off the rails (not fall - literally like someone was throwing them at you). We'd also come in in the morning and all the size 4 shoes would be on the floor - incredibly weird. I did some research and found that a kitchen maid had died in a fire in that building about 80 years previously when it has been a hotel.

Tellmeyourwoostories · 14/07/2024 17:39

@MarchionessOfMayhem thanks for sharing your stories. The cupping of the face sounds quite eerie, but I'm sure it was sweet seeing dogs often and you got used to seeing them almost like having another pet I guess.

I went to a show by Sally somebody. She kept saying things to the woman next to me who kept saying no. Six things and six nos. Yet every one fit me. I wish I'd had the nerve to say, I think she means me..

The old lady next door was very ill with cancer . One morning i was hanging washing in the garden and I looked up and saw her standing in her bedroom window . I remember thinking how very very pale she looked . That evening her daughter came round to tell us her mother died the previous day.

dogoverman · 14/07/2024 19:31

Nothing as scary as any on this thread more like a coincidence
Walking out of my office block recently and saw a girl and thought to myself wow she looks like Helen who I used to work with, hadn't thought of her for years, and I ideally wondered what she was doing now, walked down to the bus stop and saw the original Helen standing there, who I hadn't seen for 20 years, they were two separate people I might add.

Years ago I had signed up for a voluntary work and they never called me back, about a year I was sleeping when I heard the phone ring down stairs, I suddenly thought that the voluntary work never did call me , when I checked the answer phone message it was the volunteer work apologising for not being in touch my mum said I went pale when I listened to the message

Both things made me feel a little weird

MadisonAvenue · 14/07/2024 22:46

I had a really weird random coincidence (?) a couple of years ago too.

When he was little our son was obsessed with Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and I found out that the car was on display at a shopping centre a few miles away so we drove him over as a surprise. As we made our way there we were pointing at plane trails and asking him if perhaps it was Chitty which had been flying around. Anyway, at the shopping centre he was able to sit in the car and have his photo taken. That was around 2004/2005.

Back to a couple of years ago and I was out walking the dog in the woods when a plane flew over and I immediately thought back to that day. No reason why it should spring to mind, I hadn't thought about it for years.

10 minutes later I had a text from my son asking if I knew where the photo was of him sitting in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as he’d just been talking about it with his girlfriend and wanted to show her.

This is informative, thank you. My mum has diabetes and has an odd smell occasionally- I thought she needed to shower but I now know it's a sign of an imbalance.

Several years ago I lived alone and had a peace lily in my flat. It was healthy but never flowered. My Nan, called Lily, was in a care home aged 96 and receiving end of life care. I left for work around 8am one morning and got a call from my Mum shortly after to say she had died in the early hours. I came home from work that afternoon to see one single stem on the plant flowering. Over the course of the next 2-3 days this stem shot up right in the centre of the plant and produced the widest, proudest flower. Put it down to a lovely coincidence but took a little comfort from it, feeling as though it was her way of saying goodbye.
Fast forward to now, I live with DH and we have another peace lily plant in our main bathroom, it was bought as a gift for me when my 3 year old was born. This one has also never flowered - until 3 weeks ago, a few days before our wedding day. I walked into the bathroom one morning and once again saw a single stem with a bright white flower appearing on it, which proceeded to grow over the course of the next few days, just like before!
