To think that pulling net curtains into the middle of the window and then tying them into a knot is never a good look?

My new neighbour keeps doing it, I want to knock on the door and ask her to come across to my side of the street and see if she thinks it looks nice.

lol

YANBU. But then, I think any use of net curtains is a crime

purplemoon · 10/04/2008 13:45

LOL.... lovely!!

ruddynorah · 10/04/2008 13:46

oh it's awful isn't it. some people do it with normal curtains too, especially with big bay windows.

purplemoon · 10/04/2008 13:46
  • for! (..and what OMDB said !)
GentleOtter · 10/04/2008 13:46

No. It looks hellish.

VictorianSqualor · 10/04/2008 13:46

DP used to do it with the vole in our old house, needless to say I 'lost' the voile when we moved.

SquonkTheBeerGuru · 10/04/2008 13:47

Is she cleaning the windows?

I do this when I clean

or decorate

of course if I was doing either properly, I would take the curtains down...

OverMyDeadBody · 10/04/2008 13:48

Where the flowery/lacy as well? Because that would be trully unforgivable

callmeovercautious · 10/04/2008 13:49

Net curtains should be banned alltogether

Fimbo · 10/04/2008 13:49

I so wish my pc would allow me to upload photos to MN then I could let you all see.

My pc is right in the line of vision.

net curtains is never a good look full stop

purplemoon · 10/04/2008 13:57

ooooh go on Fimbo!!! let's have a look!

SquonkTheBeerGuru · 10/04/2008 13:57

but they're so handy for stopping the nosy neighbours staring into your living room and then starting a nasty, vicious totally true unfounded rumour about how messy your living room is.

misdee · 10/04/2008 13:58

we had to tie ours like that every morning as we have a damp/mould problem and they get wet if we leave them. gave up in the end and removed them from the worst rooms. means all and sundry can see into dd's bedroom which is a bit of a bomb site atm

SheikYerbouti · 10/04/2008 14:00

Net curtains, washing up bowls and antimacassars are the work of Lucifer

OverMyDeadBody · 10/04/2008 14:03

what the hell are antimassacars?!

SquonkTheBeerGuru · 10/04/2008 14:04

oops - I have obviously invited Lucifer into my home

And I was worried people would judge me on the mess!

maidamess · 10/04/2008 14:04

Are they nice and grey?

SquonkTheBeerGuru · 10/04/2008 14:05

(Antimacassars are those doily things that old women put over the arms of the settees)

I don't have antimacassars.

I use baby blankets

VictorianSqualor · 10/04/2008 14:08

I have a washing up bowl, I'm sorry.
I don't have a drainer to match though, surely that gives me some leeway?

Kathyis6incheshigh · 10/04/2008 14:08

So, those of you who don't approve of net curtains, do you all live on houses set back from the road? Or do you just not mind people (incl prospective burglars) looking in?

maidamess · 10/04/2008 14:09

I have some fab patterned glass etch which you buy on a roll to fit your window. Its great.

Fimbo · 10/04/2008 14:09

It's a brand new house, so no damp issues. Its bonnie so it is.

I have a washing up bowl in the sink in the utility rm - it's very useful for hand-washing clothes and carrying them elsewhere to drip.

I think I'd struggle to take the stainless steel sink outside to the washing line TBH

RustyBear · 10/04/2008 14:10

VS did you really mean this..."DP used to do it with the vole in our old house"
