To ask you how you get rid of upper lip hair?!

Lippylemon · 29/06/2024 09:56

Over the last few years the hairs on the corners of my upper lip have got darker and more noticeable and I do really need to do something about them!

I’ve looked up the best ways to remove/conceal but there seems to be drawbacks to all of them. They say shaving doesn’t actually make the hair thicker it’s just the angle but I 100% do not trust that and I don’t want to have to do it every day and get stubble! Maybe waxing? Laser hair removal?

Help!!

I didn't have hair on my face but I used to have hair on my legs that grew so fast I had to shave every day. I bought one of those laser machines. It is cheaper than two visits to a laser clinic and works fine. Now I shave my legs less than once a month.

Waxing is less painful but it doesn’t lift the hair as well as threading does. The pain of threading is horrendous though, truly horrendous

Flawless Touch , works like a charm.

Absolutely this! I spent years bleaching/ spiraling/ waxing and feeling so self conscious.. this takes thirty seconds once a week or so and I never have to think about it again

Lemonade2011 · 29/06/2024 10:39

I just use my eyebrow wax strips painless and quick.
hated threading so bloody sore

AnnaMagnani · 29/06/2024 10:40

Electrolysis. Only thing that is permanent.

FungusMcEyebrow · 29/06/2024 10:40

I got dermaplanes on Amazon. Cheap, quick and I can do it any time at home so I never get stubble.

socks1107 · 29/06/2024 10:41

I use boots own upper lip hair removal cream, takes about two minutes once a month to sort

NewGreenDuck · 29/06/2024 10:43

I use an epilator on my face and legs. I find it works well, lasts quite a while and seems to prevent hair growing, but that might just be me! I do have one of those removers that uses pulses of light and again that's good. I sort of alternate them, which might be why I find the hair has reduced considerably.

FrogNToad · 29/06/2024 10:44

I se these little spring epilators. I never got on with waxing, it always damaged the skin. These are brill and dirt cheap though. Had mine for years.

Jolene facial hair cream bleach if your facial hair visible but not too thick. I always had a bit of very light moustache which I bleached for years. Its hardly visible now after years and years of bleaching and rarely regrows. If it does , I bleach it again and I'm moustache free for couple of months. I suspect, the moustache roots have been damaged from bleaching, so less facial hair grows back.

magnoliablooms · 29/06/2024 10:51

I wouldn't bleach its always noticeable in the summer when it catches the light

BlondeFool · 29/06/2024 10:52

I get mine threaded. And my chin now (damn menopause making me so hairy)

BermudaBlues · 29/06/2024 10:52

Cold wax strips for face. I use veet. Quick and effective.

Funny enough I saw a mum yesterday who had a thick moustache of bleached hair! How she thought she could hide it was beyond me. It made it stand out even more.

OriginalUsername2 · 29/06/2024 10:56

I quickly whop it off with a dry razor before doing my makeup. It’s only 2 seconds of my life so I barely think about it. It’s either that or be hairy between proper treatments. Hoping for laser treatments in the future though.

I quite enjoy plucking the chin hairs now that I’m over the horror of having them in the first place! I got my first at about age 30 and now there are a dozen little buggers a decade later.

PeonySeasons · 29/06/2024 10:56

I bleach. Occasional pluck of a weird black hair but otherwise just bleach. So much simpler!

I worked with a girl who bleached her moustache. Seemed like a total waste of time rather than just getting rid of it

Wolfpa · 29/06/2024 11:01

I have tried them all, dermaplaning works best for me.

That’s what I was going to say. Especially in sunlight!

Plus I just need it GONE off my face or I’ll accidentally stroke it like a wise old man. If I get a pokey chin hair I can’t stop wiggling it around until I get home to a tweezer.

Threading is the answer

I’ve never understood the difference between threading and plucking.

Gall10 · 29/06/2024 11:05

There isn't much difference really...in both cases hairs are being pulled out by the root but threading gets rid of more of them much quicker.

Rycbar · 29/06/2024 11:14

I’ve had this my whole adult life. I bleach mine.

CeruleanDive · 29/06/2024 11:15

Sorry, @Ponoka7, I don't understand. You should be told if dermaplaning is enough rather than shaving? Or rather than laser?

Sunlight makes no difference. I bleach it ever few months. A lot more time between having to pluck my eyebrows!

Spiral hair remover - easier than threading, no mess, works on super short hairs. About £5 from Amazon

Second these - so satisfying too!
