My Mum had a Chronic Condition from when I was 12 years old that led to her becoming disabled. The experience of growing up with a disabled parent and supporting her once I became an adult inspired me to want to become an Occupational Therapist.

I enrolled on a Degree Course three years ago, and today at the Grand age of 47 I've found out that achieved a First Class Degree in OT. Sadly, my Mum who was my biggest supporter in my re-training passed away suddenly three months ago so never got to see this day.

I'm soon going to be working in Older Adults Mental Health and hoping that my own life experiences will make be a kind, understanding and empathetic OT.
Hope you don't mind me sharing. I've told my children and husband but wanted someone else to tell!

Thank you so much for all of your lovely comments. It brought a lump to my throat to hear so many beautiful women supporting another and being so genuine with their congratulations!

Sadly, I found my Mum passed away and had to perform CPR but it was sadly too late. It was all very traumatic.

I still had one spoken exam and two assignments to complete to finish my course. Somehow I managed to get through it all and I am really proud of myself for that. The day it happened I remember thinking how on earth would I ever have a clear enough mind to get through it. How will I ever think straight again? But I did...and I am proud of myself for that!
