To eat two Big Macs in one go

Feel quite gross.

Been a very full on few weeks with work, school, various appointments..just a lot going on, Dd off school sick and me off work and not feeling 100%.
Today we just closed out the world, stayed in pjs, cuddled on the sofa and watched films.
We ended up getting an Uber eats delivery, Dd wanted a happy meal. On the app it said as one of the offers-two Big Macs for the price of one, it cost less that a meal and I wasn’t too fussed about chips or a drink, so I ordered them and ate one after the other 😬 seems very excessive now and I feel the guilt of it. Putting it into my fitness pal it’s 1100, I eat 1200 per day, so that’s more or less it for a day, but because it’s McDonald’s, I’ll likely be hungry later
Anyone else ever done this?

Now that lots of places have calories on the menu, it’s been an eye opener to discover how high the calories are in quite normal-seeming meals, that put your Big Macs in the shade.

CostelloJones · 28/06/2024 16:29

LOL don’t let the “chelsea bun is too big” lady see 😂

when you say Big Mac you mean “massive salad”
right?

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 28/06/2024 16:44

Cranacha, I totally accept that. I've worked really hard on myself not to pass on food obsession to my own children. I actually think that some poster start and/or post on these threads with the sole purpose of triggering as they are obsessed with food themselves and don't want others not to be.

I know that AIBU is for anything, that's why I posted on the thread.

I do agree with the posters who say that McD burgers are air-filled; they may not be totally calorific as compared to other foods but they lack nutrients. We don't have them as a rule - would rather have Wimpys - but if it's McD then it's when the Philly steak ones are in. Thank goodness they're only there for a few weeks!

Yanbu I always get two big mac meals 😬 one just doesn't cut it.

I can't believe you've admitted this on MN.

Cranacha · 28/06/2024 16:56

@LyingWitchInTheWardrobe

Yeah I mentioned AIBU is for everything as you had stated you wish MN would make a new board for the “food-anxious and divert all these threads over to it” and I was pointing out those threads more specific to food/diet probably already exist, but AIBU will always be a catch all for all kinds of topics. Generally speaking MN won’t start redirecting topics from AIBU to their relevant topic threads unless a poster asks.

I actually think that some poster start and/or post on these threads with the sole purpose of triggering as they are obsessed with food themselves and don't want others not to be.

Interesting 🤔 I hadn’t thought of it that way but I guess people will have all kinds of motivations

A bit off topic but I didn’t even know Wimpey’s were still around - I used to love them when I was younger 😂

TheKeatingFive · 28/06/2024 16:58

I've never done it. Don't think I'd ever want to. But as a one off it's not going to do you any harm.

Gingerkittykat · 28/06/2024 18:11

I wish I hadn't clicked on this thread as now I'm craving a big mac with extra pickles. I looked on the app and they don't have BOGOF so it would only be one for me.

It would mean going out since they don't do delivery here and I don't know if I can be bothered!

Can I just say from a PT perspective...

Hope you enjoyed it! It's clearly not a regular thing for you so who cares? Love your body, love your life, love your down time with the people you love. We all deserve a PJ cheat day sometimes.

Don't reduce your feeling of good or bad to hoe many calories you ate, that reduces your wonderful body to far less than it is.

MissingMoominMamma · 28/06/2024 18:24

I’ve just eaten the whole pan of meatballs in marinara sauce that I made for my dinner tonight and tomorrow night… 12 meatballs.

In my defence, I didn’t have pasta with it.

I seem to always feel hungry at the moment.

Boogiemam · 28/06/2024 19:02

They're tiny now, YANBU especially if you didn't have chips.

Willitneverendnow · 28/06/2024 21:55

@LyingWitchInTheWardrobe Youre completely wrong, I didn’t start this thread as I’m obsessed with food, I’m not at all, I’m size 14, have been much slimmer and a little bigger, generally eat and enjoy my food…*However, I have started dieting for the last two months so was pissed off after I’d done it at first
Sincerely did not mean to trigger anyone and wasn’t aware it could, if I have, I’m very sorry

Why ? Anyone can go to McDonald's and buy their food, just do that 😂

But to the OP, eat what you like, I assume you're an adult who can make choices, no need to ask for permission or forgiveness on this one

obviously because she was eating two Big Macs and I wasn’t ?!

I live 45 mins drive from my closest McDonald’s too.

it was a lighthearted comment, chill.

ApresSailingQueen1 · 29/06/2024 10:11

Thanks to this thread last night I ate a Big Mac Meal and 5 chicken selects.

It gave me a craving. God, delicious.

No need to apologise at all, I should - I'm sorry, Willitneverendnow! I think I'm just jaded from all the MN chicken/teenytiny bollocks posts that this board is plagued with.

I hope you enjoyed them and that you won't feel badly about eating them, they are just food. Not a perfect food but then, what is? It's about balance and sometimes, a less than nutritious morsel is the very thing to hit the spot.

AnnieMcFanny · 29/06/2024 13:31

No Big Macs but when I do have something from McDonalds it’s always a fish fillet with 2 fillets in one bun but no fries and water to drink. It’s my secret.

Oooh! Can you customise that for the two fillets or do you have to buy two burgers and discard one of the buns?

I like the sound of it very much.

AnnieMcFanny · 29/06/2024 17:58

@ApresSailingQueen1 hi. It’s delicious and you can order it at the machine or if you’re like me and the machines are too much for you to get to grips with then you can order it at the counter. I usually just ask for fish fillet sandwich with 2 fish pls.

ApresSailingQueen1 · 30/06/2024 07:13

That's Monday night dinner sorted!

I cannot wait to try this !

Sunnytwobridges · 30/06/2024 09:23

Yes, and I could probably eat three as I’m a bottomless pit.

EnglishBluebell · 30/06/2024 09:51

It does make me laugh when people are quite happy to have multiple burgers or sausages on a BBQ (ones which are probably less than 10% meat content and covered in grease & cheese etc) without giving it a second thought. However the will practically collapse at the thought of more than one McDonalds burger 😨🙀
