To eat two Big Macs in one go

Feel quite gross.

Been a very full on few weeks with work, school, various appointments..just a lot going on, Dd off school sick and me off work and not feeling 100%.
Today we just closed out the world, stayed in pjs, cuddled on the sofa and watched films.
We ended up getting an Uber eats delivery, Dd wanted a happy meal. On the app it said as one of the offers-two Big Macs for the price of one, it cost less that a meal and I wasn’t too fussed about chips or a drink, so I ordered them and ate one after the other 😬 seems very excessive now and I feel the guilt of it. Putting it into my fitness pal it’s 1100, I eat 1200 per day, so that’s more or less it for a day, but because it’s McDonald’s, I’ll likely be hungry later
Anyone else ever done this?

For information, Big Macs are exactly the same size as they've always been.

They have always been made from 2 burger patties and the patties have always been 1.6oz.

Menapausemum1974 · 27/06/2024 20:25

@Testina she probably feels gross at the thought she ate so much fatty food in one go and guilty as she's meant to be on a diet! Totally get it and no i do not have " an issue" with food!

But I did say it’s the combination of things, big any one of them. And I said that it’s especially the posting about it. It’s such a total non-event. Two Big Macs, and still under her daily calories (though yes, it’s junk and she’s hungry again). It’s just not a big deal enough to run to the internet with it… that’s why I’d suspect her relationship with food isn’t great.

DaisyCat33 · 27/06/2024 23:55

As a one off it's not a big deal. I've never actually eaten 2 big macs specifically, but I've done worse with other foods like chocolate or cake. Also once I ate a big mac meal + a whole box of mcnuggets + a mcflurry in one go.

Your diet can't be perfect every day! Now and again you just have to have a sofa day and eat some crap.

Mumtobabyhavoc · 27/06/2024 19:06

Whaaat? A whole duck??? 🫣

Although, when I buy a rotisserie chicken for a quick supper and am taking it apart I do eat bits as I go.
(Like a wild animal if I'm really hungry.) 🤣🤣🤣

Yep ...all of it . I used to be very very active with a huge appetite but I developed m.e. ten years ago and now struggle to eat enough to keep up my weight .
So when I actually 'feel' hungry I really take advantage of it !

It really won't make any difference. Doing something silly like that as a one off is irrelevant. As long as you're not doing regularly, you're absolutely fine.

I've been a binge eater all my adult life (and half my childhood too!). I used to really get annoyed and upset when I fell off the wagon after a period of not bingeing - so much so that it just caused me to binge more.

Nowadays, I just accept it happens occasionally, water off a duck's back, I try to forget it and start the next day afresh.

This is a good attitude to have. I’m the same been binge eating since I was about 11 and then all of my adult life despite being slim for most of it. I try and get it under control and have for the most part - except for during the lockdowns where I went full binge - but even now sometimes I slip up.

It’s best just to shrug it off and do better the next day.

@Willitneverendnow I have a similar calorie allowance to you as I’m short and on a weight loss journey and I’ve had my whole allowance in one meal before too.

Don’t feel bad - it happened. Move on!

Thankfully the McDonald’s in my town is gross so I’m never tempted . Despite all the bad reviews on just eats I gave them a go when I first moved here and soon realised how true the reviews were. The food arrived stone cold and was the worst McDonald’s I’ve had 😂

FakeSmile · 28/06/2024 00:57

No disordered eating, tracking them because I’m on a diet and am pissed off at myself now and can’t have anything else and hungry

I'd say it's disordered eating when you feel guilty for eating them and won't eat anything else even when you're hungry. Having those feelings about food isn't a healthy way of thinking.

Someone without issues about food would just eat something else and not feel guilty about calories.

IdisagreeMrHochhauser · 28/06/2024 01:51

Now I want a Big Mac

OperationGoldDawn · 28/06/2024 01:56

i had one, then won one with the sticker for monopoly mcdonalds

IncompleteSenten · 28/06/2024 07:13

I'm sure anyone could, just depends how long since they last ate and how hungry they are. People manage three (and more) course meals just fine and in terms of quantity, two big macs can't be bigger than that.

ThePoshUns · 28/06/2024 07:14

Gross

ThePoshUns · 28/06/2024 07:14

Gross

Is that your contribution to the thread ?

Westfacing · 28/06/2024 07:27

In my early 20s I would have a Big Mac, fries, apple pie and a milkshake, no problem!

I wouldn't touch any of them now, but if presented with it I could probably manage two of the items but not all four.

I still have a big appetite but couldn't eat so much stodge in one go, however like the poster upthread I could eat a whole roast duck!

Glitterybee · 28/06/2024 07:29

I always do two burgers from McDonald’s because I don’t like the fries… it’s fine! Just not everyday 😊

ApresSailingQueen1 · 28/06/2024 07:32

I Love Big Macs. Love. i could easily eat 2. My go-to tends to be a Big mac and instead of fries I have 3 chicken selects. I hate fries.

ThePoshUns · 28/06/2024 07:37

Yes @Mrsjayy it's a discussion board.
2 Big Macs in one sitting is gross as the OP asked.
Just my opinion.
You all carry on eating 2, good for you.

ladycardamom · 28/06/2024 07:39

YABU because it was 2 x big macs. If it was 2 x quarter pounders it would have been ok! It's a one off. It's fine!

Buffypaws · 28/06/2024 07:44

Yeah I don’t get the love for Big Macs. I’d rather have an extra patty than an extra slice of bread.

However I once had two honest burgers with two portions of chips after being chucked on my birthday. I was drunk but still. What you did didn’t even hit the 1200. You can have omelette or soup for dinner and still be in a deficit.

MorrisZapp · 28/06/2024 08:02

People lose all reason around McDonald's. Most pub lunches or restaurant meals contain way more calories and fat than a Big Mac, and so do many luxury bakery/cafe items. It's just food.

Branleuse · 28/06/2024 08:06

I prefer the quarter pounder w cheese to the big mac. I think I'd rather two of those than a burger and fries. At least the burger has protein

True. A Big Mac is 508 calories. An M&S ultimate prawn sandwich is 533 calories.

snowballedinhell · 28/06/2024 08:15

Now I never eat the top bun of my burgers..

But 2 Big Macs? Easy.

For reference I'm teeny tiny lol

I would love to set aside a day and eat my way through the McDonald's menu to see where my limit is Grin

BMW6 · 28/06/2024 09:03

I prefer Burger King and could absolutely eat 2 Whoppers

Megifer · 28/06/2024 09:12

Yanbu I always get two big mac meals 😬 one just doesn't cut it.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 28/06/2024 13:57

Yet another food thread.

OP, every single time I see threads like this I imagine the person posting to have a really poor grip on their own behaviour. Eat a burger, don't eat a burger, who cares?

This board is filled with people who can't control their eating habits - one way or the other - in a normal way. I wish MNHQ would make a new board for the food-anxious and divert all these threads over to it, they are so damaging and utterly pointless at the same time.

Cranacha · 28/06/2024 16:13

This board is filled with people who can't control their eating habits - one way or the other - in a normal way.

Do you mean people with disordered eating pattern ? If so yeah it probably is full of them which reflects society - a lot of us struggle with disordered eating at one point of our lives or other if not for our whole lives.

wish MNHQ would make a new board for the food-anxious and divert all these threads over to it

There probably are MN boards focused on diet / eating. I know there’s the weight loss thread.

But AIBU is for anything really, however I can understand why you /others may be triggered by it though.
