DD was pushing on a sports day run - multiple fractures - AIBU to considering suing ?

DD is sporty, on running on school sports day, another girl came running from behind and pushed. DD took a tumble, went to A&E, had multiple fracture to right arm, could be semi permanent change as a result of this incident. Now the other girl or their parent failed to care or consider saying sorry, had the audacity to talk to other mums implying DD was at fault being slow !! and the school was nincompoop.

AIBU to consider legal action against the other parent or the paid for school ?

You want to sue the school because a child pushed your child and she fell over?!?

I’m sorry that this happened to your daughter and I hope she recovers well. The other girl sounds nasty, she shouldn’t have done it and she should have said sorry. I would hope that if it was clearly deliberate that the school would have dealt with this behaviour. But I’m not sure you’ve got grounds to sue anyone! How old are these kids?

You want to sue the school or another parent over an accident?

JustJoinedRightNow · 16/06/2024 22:01

The school was nincompoop??

HcbSS · 16/06/2024 22:02

What would sueing do? You want money?

Pinkypinkyplonk · 16/06/2024 22:02

I’m afraid the whole of life is a calculated risk!

These flipping nincompoop schools eh!!

Itsmyshadow · 16/06/2024 22:02

I don’t think you can sue (you wouldn’t get anywhere), but that is terrible if your daughter was deliberately pushed. If my daughter did that I’d be mortified and she’d be giving a grovelling apology and much more.

3luckystars · 16/06/2024 22:02

I don’t think you would get very far with that case.

I’m so sorry your daughter was injured, I completely understand you must be very upset and angry.

SpringerFall · 16/06/2024 22:03

Why am I not surprised

Auntimabelsbudgie · 16/06/2024 22:03

Sue the bastards. The other girl was in the wrong
No point suing school, they can't be over every horrid child

vodkaredbullgirl · 16/06/2024 22:03

It wasnt an accident, she was pushed

BarcardiWithGadaffia · 16/06/2024 22:06

Is being a nincompoop legally challengable?

TippedOverTheGravyJug · 16/06/2024 22:06

Hardly the schools fault.
These things happen, they shouldn't but they do
Hope she makes a Good recovery

Unless you are an actuary, who would expect another child to deliberately push yours and cause an injury?

stressedespresso · 16/06/2024 22:07

Bloody hell OP, get a grip on yourself.

Let’s be real here, you just want your DD’s school to fund your next holiday. Shameful

longdistanceclaraclara · 16/06/2024 22:07

For real? If you want to sue sue the other kids parents (still bull shit), you don't sue the school. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Mojodojocasahous · 16/06/2024 22:08

Nah mate

Are you American? We don’t have the same suing culture here in Blighty

Great use of the word nincompoop

MinervaMcGonagallsCat · 16/06/2024 22:08

Don't be absurd.

Maybe OP used a thesaurus to write this á la Joey Tribbiani 🤔

junebirthdaygirl · 16/06/2024 22:10

As the school is meant to have the same responsibility for your child as you would have l doubt you could successfully sue as this could easily happen on your watch. I presume every child has school insurance..they do in lreland. So that will cover all medical bills including physio after her break heals. It is tough but l don't think suing anyone will help.

The US suing culture is making its way across the pond at lightning speed unfortunately.. Look at all of the ‘compo’ faces each day in the Daily Mail! Laughable.
