I’ve reached the point of feeling a totally irrational surge of rage whenever I see them which is every damn day…

“I was today years old when”

“POV”

“That feeling when”

Anything that is referred to as a “hack”.

Calling an outfit a “fit”

Saying something “hits different” … hate it and I can’t even articulate why.

grinandslothit · 12/06/2024 06:33

I wrote a thing
Hits different
Anything ate, girl, you ate that outfit
Body count
No cap
Gyatt

CHEESEY13 · 12/06/2024 06:33

"I'm absolutely DEVASTATED!" No you're not. But people will actually say this over something as routine as getting a parking ticket........

Thumb through any tabloid newspaper and you're bound to come across at least half a dozen items which feature someone howling about being "devastated" about ordinary, everyday minor glitches in a routine life.

Mairzydotes · 12/06/2024 06:34

Gifted

Calling the first of something ' the o.g'

broccolienthusiast · 12/06/2024 06:35

How everything people do is a journey

Thursa · 12/06/2024 06:37

Nom, nom, nom
Sorry, not sorry
Spilling the tea. When did it stop being beans?

SheldontheWonderSchlong · 12/06/2024 06:39

"If you know, you know" makes me irrationally angry for some reason.

FrothyCothy · 12/06/2024 06:40

Latest one I’ve noticed is “got his/her flowers” to mean a celebrity getting recognition for something. Eh?!

LaMarschallin · 12/06/2024 06:42

MN is the only social media I'm on so I'm learning a lot!
I hate bloody "journeys" too and have to bite my tongue when one of my adult DDs says "reaching out" instead of just "asking".
I've seen "And go!" here after a query which makes me want to be really childish and shout "Shan't!".

scalt · 12/06/2024 06:42

Any of the covid sayings, such as "Stay safe". "Vaccinated and proud." "Stay the fuck at home."
And of course, most of the over-used Mumsnet adjectives: grim, crass, etc.

LionBarPlease · 12/06/2024 06:44

The word ‘snatched’

Oh and not a word but those stupid little microphones all the influencers are prancing round with while inexplicably still leaning forwards and downwards into their badly positioned phones. I feel so embarrassed for them. They’re talking about H&M jeans not reporting from a warzone.

1yearplan · 12/06/2024 06:47

I can't stand...

'Hacks'

'You've been doing this wrong your whole life' followed by a different way to do some mundane task.

When people refer to their mother as 'Muma Bear'
Or when they refer to a handbag or article of clothing as 'she'
Or 'I'm in my x era'
Makes me want to punch them through the screen

number10bus · 12/06/2024 06:50

‘This one’ and ‘show’ rather than shoes.

Also the weird ASMR. It drives me mad.

And when they refer to themselves as Mumma Bear .. even worse

Majellaa · 12/06/2024 06:52

Bussin 😐

Julianne65 · 12/06/2024 06:53

I hate the sarcastic “hope this helps” in response to someone they think is wrong.

or “checks notes…”

#bekind

also young people calling any celebrity older than them mum/mom/mother.

I have loads more that I can’t think of right now. Social media makes me angry.

RapunzelsSplitEnds · 12/06/2024 06:54

‘Unalived’ is beginning to creep the boards.
I have no idea what POV is. Penis Or Vagina? Please Order Vegetables?

Oh God, definitely this!
A lot of the time it's proudly used to describe being unnecessarily aggressive on behalf of one's child.
Definitely has the subtext of "I love my child more than anyone else loves theirs".

BoobyDazzler · 12/06/2024 06:56

“I just want to introduce myself and share a photo that I took”

insert shit photo

<rages>

PixiePirate · 12/06/2024 06:57

“I don’t know who needs to hear this, but …..”

”and I’m here for it”

Majellaa · 12/06/2024 06:57

Also... not a saying but

People who wish someone a Happy Birthday (or Happy Heavenly Birthday) when the person it's intended for isn't on social media.

Just text/call/go round and see them???? (Obviously not for the heavenly birthday!)

ExH's new girlfriend wished our son a happy birthday on SM last month. He's 8. He can't see it love. And no text or phone call to say it to him personally at all 😐

GAHHH! All for the likes

wickerlady · 12/06/2024 06:58

Not a saying as such but when you're watching a video on SM and it's an influencer tapping her long, horrid nails on the item she's trying to peddle 😑😑😑

halfshutknife · 12/06/2024 06:58

If you know you know 🤢

“Unlived” is because some platforms don’t allow people to mention murder or suicide.
This is how they get around it. Hope it’s banned too.
