I’ve reached the point of feeling a totally irrational surge of rage whenever I see them which is every damn day…

“I was today years old when”

“POV”

“That feeling when”

Anything that is referred to as a “hack”.

Calling an outfit a “fit”

OP posts:

'Manifesting' everything!

'I think less than 5 people will take the trouble to post and share this. I think I know who they are.'

Nobody who knows the difference between less and fewer, I presume!

Has anyone seen "throwback snap / photo"? It seems to mean a photo from last year.

malificent7 · 17/06/2024 06:02

Bruh!
Nom nom nom
Thank god Paris Hilton's word " sliving" didn't take off( slaying + living = sliving!)
Slaying for that matter.

Cantbefound · 19/06/2024 08:12

Just logged onto social media and was confronted by two more. ‘Just leaving this here’ followed by normally a baby picture. Also, when posting holiday photos ‘sorry it’s late’ yes because everyone has been waiting impatiently for you to post your holiday pictures up! 😂

Really, the self-importance!
Bit like "Didn't want to read and run but..." on MN. Nobody even knows (or would care if they did) you've read it and you're actually saying (usually) you've nothing helpful to say.
I read a couple of cryptic crossword blogs and you get that sort of thing: "Haven't got time to write much today but I thought this was okay" or something.
Mate, if you haven't got time, don't bother rushing to write something boring, we're not all chewing our nails and fretting about where AnagraMan is today (not an actual pseudonym afaik, I'm not that mean).

Whenwillitgetwarm · 19/06/2024 08:29

There was a thread in chat the other day where someone was asking what to wear to a wedding. A poster suggested wearing a ‘red lip’ with the outfit. As it wasn’t in AIBU I had to resist the urge to ask what colour the other lip would be.

Fucking ridic and try hard to sound like Elle Magazine. Although it’s still shitty being used in a mag.

stinkymonkey52 · 19/06/2024 08:50

Unalived, seen it a couple of times recently,
why not just say murdered or dead?

Isitsixoclockalready · 19/06/2024 08:55

When people say stuff like "they can fuck off all the way to..." Just say "they can fuck off".

CelesteCunningham · 19/06/2024 09:05

stinkymonkey52 · 19/06/2024 08:50

Because some social media platforms (tiktok I think and others) censor words like that, as well as suicide. So people use unalive to get around the censorship and then it bleeds onto other platforms that don't censor.

SirenDiMare · 19/06/2024 09:12

"Tell me you are a... without telling me you are a..." - get lost.

"My husband / wife / kids / dogs' reaction to..." - nobody cares.

Agree it’s Orwellian and creepy.

Gakpo · 19/06/2024 21:07

Rest in power does my nut in a bit, especially when it’s someone talking about their Gran.

Pippippip2024 · 19/06/2024 21:13

Social media is vapid nonsense. I don’t waste my time on any of it thankfully. Mums net is ok 😂

Your first one is SO ANNOYING! It was very very mildly amusing to begin with, but then got completely overused and now it just sets my teeth on edge.

MsLuxLisbon · 20/06/2024 10:41

DelythBeautyQueen · 15/06/2024 16:27

They'll know it won't be me then!

A red lip.
A long sleeve.
A high heel.

All give me toothache.

In fact, they give you an aching tooth!

Dumbo18 · 20/06/2024 10:44

That stupid fucking video i see everytime i'm on Instagram... Your mama used to be a hoe but now she shops at Costco. Just piss off its been done to death and no one cares

Several aching teeth, unfortunately...

"These bad boys" as in a chef adding something like tomatoes and saying "I'll just add these bad boys". No it's a fucking tomato - it's not bad and it's not male

Slay - no idea what that even means in SM speak. In my world it means to kill
I follow a wannabe influencer - frumpy 40ish who likes to get down with the cool kids. She says stuff like this and it just sounds so try hard.

in fact the majority of "influencers" and the like can just fuck right off. People filming themselves doing utterly mundane things for the content , but even worse, people subscribing to this shit. They must have very empty lives if they've time for this sort of nonsense.

yes where on earth did that come from? I've seen it used for running shoes. Why?

And on the subject of running - a FB group I am a member of - people say "sorry I've not posted for a while" as if anyone has noticed"

parkrun500club · 20/06/2024 12:10

The POV thing is weird too - it often makes no sense in the context.

POV: I love using red lipstick

POV: look at my new lawnmower. How is that an opinion?

I saw that about some mini egg cookies !

RaraRachael · 20/06/2024 12:22

Bad boys seems to be applicable to absolutely anything unfortunately.

I'm intrigued where these silly sayings actually originate

I can't stand the "read and run" comments. Who on earth would even know? Also "for context" - just say what you want to say. Just tell us!
