I’ve reached the point of feeling a totally irrational surge of rage whenever I see them which is every damn day…

“I was today years old when”

“POV”

“That feeling when”

Anything that is referred to as a “hack”.

Calling an outfit a “fit”

I also hate when people repeat the wrong letter to emphasise a word like "andddd" instead of "aaaand"

Yes this bugs me too. My teenage DD always texts me “okayyyyy” and I really want to reply “don’t you mean okaaaay”.

also what’s with the capital letter thing LiKe ThIs?

Why don’t you just correct your teenage DD?
I corrected mine all the time. They hated it. They still hate it 🤣

The alternating capitals denotes mockery, it's actually been around a long time but became mainstream with a spongebob meme.

No it is gross. The time to do those things is in your teens when you have the excuse of not knowing better.

The time to judge other people for having harmless fun is in your teens when you have the excuse of not knowing better.

I hesitate to as she’s dyslexic and going through an extremely arsey stage. She’ll take it as criticism of her spelling (i don’t think it’s a spelling mistake and wouldn’t mean it that way but she wouldn’t listen to reason) and blow up.

it’s hard restraining myself though as I am a top pedant.

Sorry, but you've just done one of my pet hates...

"I hate when / I love that yo do..."

I hate it when/ I love it that you!

Hate the extra letters too. Especially “loveeee” when I think they mean “looove” or “luuurve”.

Poppyg123 · 14/06/2024 21:52

Also ; while slightly off topic; why does the phrase ' work colleague' in a title
so often bode ill.

Telling everyone you’re in A&E with no context. And then replying to the frantic replies with “have messaged you”. If it was that private, then why the stupid post in the first place?

Oh, sorry! Profound and grovelling apologies of grovelliness!

MrsWhattery · 14/06/2024 22:08

Telling everyone you’re in A&E with no context.

Oh yes! You have to post a photo of yourself in a regulation hospital nightie saying something like "well today didn't go quite as planned" or something, then enjoy everyone making a fuss. Well it can't be that bad if you're attending to your social media feed and making sure you have everyone's attention, can it.

I've even seen selfies taken in the actual ambulance and roping in the paramedics to pose with them! Poor paramedics have to add that to their job now.

Ourshoddyhouse · 14/06/2024 22:52

I promise I've read the whole thread, & I may have missed it... But, what does ate mean when they don't mean that they've eaten something? 🥴

lazyarse123 · 12/06/2024 05:40

There's a lovely lady who tries different things. Clothes , make up, food etc and she's very funny but if she says "I like a red lip" one more time might have to mute her. "You have two lips not one".

oh god I hate red lip too. also when magazines focus on a new style trouser and call it the "new pant". It's pantS - plural!

I also really hate it when fashion influencers call any item of clothing a "piece". There's one on youtube that does it all the time. Every single thing is a "piece", rather than what it is, eg a pair of shoes or a top. It sounds so pretentious and irritating after a while.

Heatherjayne1972 · 15/06/2024 06:22

I hate it when ( well known) pregnant women are described as ‘showing off’ or ‘showcasing’ their baby bump

they really aren’t It’s not like they can hide it
grrr
