I’ve reached the point of feeling a totally irrational surge of rage whenever I see them which is every damn day…

“I was today years old when”

“POV”

“That feeling when”

Anything that is referred to as a “hack”.

Calling an outfit a “fit”

Can't read the whole thread as it's too annoying but mine is where Instgrammers refer to a new cafe or restaurant as a 'spot'. Just call it a fucking cafe or restaurant!! And as for 'joint'...😡

SapphireSeptember · 12/06/2024 12:10

And another thing...
People who call their pets their son/daughter. Only ever cats or dogs though. I've never seen anyone refer to their guinea pigs as their actual children.

People who film animals in trouble, like their cats harassing a bird. The bird escaped, but I couldn't see that and not intervene! What kind of lunatic just stands there like a lemon, thinking 'ooh, I'll just film this'? Then you get people actually putting animals in dangerous situations so they can then 'rescue' them.

Oh god I’ve just thought of some more

“Mother is mothering” (usually under a picture of someone like Zendaya doing something entirely unrelated to mothering)

“Serving” (nothing at all to do with food or tennis)

If somebody did a good job of something they “ate”. Extra points if they “left no crumbs”.

🤣 you have to be a stan to appreciate calling a celeb ‘mother’ or ‘muva.’

I took this picture of Nicki a couple of weeks ago at one of her concerts and my GOD. Mother is really mothering in this pic😆

Rachie1973 · 12/06/2024 12:13

Nom nom
Making memories
anuthing dramatic followed by the tedious DM me crap.

sugarapplelane · 12/06/2024 12:14

Making memories makes me gag

MrsWhattery · 12/06/2024 12:16

Oh god yes gifting. "My mum gifted my toddler a toy garage" "I was gifted these chocolates". I know language changes but it sounds so weird and pretentious. To me, "gifting" is what happens when someone gives their priceless neolithic gold jewellery collection to a museum or something. Otherwise it's "give".

Charlysunnysky · 12/06/2024 12:17

The wider family WhatsApp group chat 😩where the 60/70 year old in laws regress to being 3 years old by typing...

Me not seen your message, forgivesies.
We flying back from our happy place.

Is it meant to be cute, cos it just comes across like they need help.

DoYouSmokePaul · 12/06/2024 12:17

When people post a caption as if their pet is saying it, possibly referring to the owner as their “hooman” and other twee garbage.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/06/2024 12:21

"I'm going to go in with" when doing a makeup tutorial.

It's not TikTok etc but it's always been something that annoyed me about Jamie Oliver. "I'm going to go in with some lovely radish."

Projectme · 12/06/2024 12:23

"only have a burner account on insta for being able to see what a neighbour was up to!" @Poggishairtufts

Sounds like we need a thread for this alone! What WAS your neighbour upto?

Is this a new Wagatha?

And that's ANOTHER thing that the media do...join 2 names together which is nauseating. Branjalina was another one.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/06/2024 12:24

Bennifer!

Reading page 1 I'm so pleased to be too old for it all and not to give a damn!

Yes, feeling very lucky this was not a part of my youth. When social media began I was mid 20s and it was so exciting, finding all your long lost friends and sharing genuinely natural and often hilarious pictures from various night’s out, not staged and filtered. It’s now become so fake and taken over by marketing, subtle and not so subtle, persuading you that you need more “stuff” to make your life better. No thanks.

MistyGreenAndBlue · 12/06/2024 12:35

Not exactly a "saying" but I'm sick and tired of all the "gender" swap posts

The Harry Potter characters as their opposite sex or the cast of Friends etc.
What is the point of this? Oh its Harriet Potter. Yes dear, very clever 🙄
It's a filter. Anyone can do it. Ditto "ageing" celebrities. 😫

CrybabyteaRs · 12/06/2024 12:41

"I'm a xxxxx so of course I...xxxx"

How original.

lalalaheyhey111 · 12/06/2024 12:45

Say it louder for the people at the back
Photo dump
I'm not crying, you're crying
Making memories with my favourite people/humans ect

AngeloMysterioso · 12/06/2024 12:45

A new loathing is “core memory”. Everything is a core memory.

Inside Out is a great movie and all but that needs to stop.

Forgot another one,
My cup is well and truly filled

comfyslippets · 12/06/2024 12:55

'Happy heavenly birthday'
Then everyone writes happy birthday messages

Beryls · 12/06/2024 12:59

'Doing life' as in 'i love doing life with this one'.

'Neurospicy'

'So...I did a thing for the Tok'

'Tell me you're autistic/have ADHD without telling me you're autistic/have ADHD' with many comments from people doing and thinking completely usual things and thinking they're special, when they don't and they're not, but it's trendy to pretend you have.

RosePetals86 · 12/06/2024 13:03

I have a social media rule of -if I wouldn’t say it in real life then I wouldn’t say it on social media. People say absolute crap they wouldn’t dare say in person I.e calling their DH / partner “my one” “our king” etc…😬

InfiniteTeas · 12/06/2024 13:12

POV is really annoying. I think it was originally used for a controversial opinion/unusual take on something. It now just seems to mean 'stuff happened.' I know someone who uses it on all their instagram posts about their job.
'POV: It's a lovely day and someone compliments you on your way to work and your coffee tastes lovely and you have a really lovely day working with an amazing client and someone sends you flowers to say thank you for the great work you did for them and then you go for a lovely drink with your best friend and everything is lovely.'
I really want to know what the 'POV' is supposed to add!

I also really hate 'Yaaaaaaas queen!!!!!'

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/06/2024 13:40

I think it was originally meant to portray a physical viewpoint, not an opinion.

Cattery · 12/06/2024 14:28

comfyslippets · 12/06/2024 12:55

'Happy heavenly birthday'
Then everyone writes happy birthday messages

Oh God yeh. Give it a rest
