Social media sayings that can fuck off and die

I’ve reached the point of feeling a totally irrational surge of rage whenever I see them which is every damn day…

“I was today years old when”

“POV”

“That feeling when”

Anything that is referred to as a “hack”.

Calling an outfit a “fit”

OP posts:
Iloveyoubut · 12/06/2024 09:30

Tell me you’re ‘whatever’ without telling me you’re ‘whatever’
I hate that one.

i also hate ‘feeling blessed’

WetBandits · 12/06/2024 09:12

Just start replying with this

Ha that's hillarious

And also illustrates he point that whilst so many of these sayings are intensely irritating, there's so many memes that are actually brilliant!

Sonolanona · 12/06/2024 09:33

'Needs gone today' on FB local selling group. NEEDS GONE?! What sort of english is that supposed to be?!

Appalonia · 12/06/2024 09:33

Not a saying, but an action...when somebody posts a video with a before and after element to it and they film themselves clicking their fingers between the two clips as a way of marking the reveal / change.

It drives me crazy.

streamy · 12/06/2024 09:34

"chef's kiss"

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 12/06/2024 09:35

Howbizarre22 · 12/06/2024 06:00

I hate POV too I don’t get it. Also on a meme where it’s says “Nobody:” at the start. Can someone please explain wtf that means

Another poster who has no idea on POV ... I get its Point Of View but then it's not used like that ... Confused faaaack I'm so old

ethelredonagoodday · 12/06/2024 09:35

'Chef's kiss'😖
'I was today years old when'
'Curated'

There's so much shite on social media, but it's so bloody addictive!

GB81 · 12/06/2024 09:36

"Rant over"
"Beautiful inside and out" - I'm too literal for this, I just think they're not beautiful inside, they're blood and muscles and organs.
"Love you to the moon and back" - Again, means nothing, its just stupid.

While I'm here can we all please stop saying "Can I get" when you mean "Please may I have" 😖

Coaltodiamonds · 12/06/2024 09:37

Oh and 'fizz'. As in 'Friday Fizz / Fizzy Friday', glass of fizz, cheeky glass of fizz etc etc. It's either prosecco, cava, or champagne hun. And my money's on Asda prosecco.

FeralNun · 12/06/2024 09:37

‘Hack’, when they mean ‘tip’ or ‘short cut’.

It makes me want to hack. With an axe.

streamy · 12/06/2024 09:39

"and wallah" instead of "et voila"

LadyHavelockVetinari · 12/06/2024 09:40

"I love you to the moon and back" isn't a social media saying, that rabbit book was around in the 90s.

SinnerBoy · 12/06/2024 09:41

I hate cheeky coffee or whatever, too.

Did it call you a twat and run away, flicking the V sign? No.

But it bloody well should have done.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 12/06/2024 09:41

YANBU

It's even more cringey when corporates do it.

POV: just bought new Persil

That feeling when there aren't any hobnobs left in the cupboard

Or whatever

ColdGirlWinter · 12/06/2024 09:42

"This one though" accompanying a photo of a friend, partner, child, dog or wahtever. Though what? As compared with what? It makes no sense to use though when nothing has been said previously to compare with.

Calliopespa · 12/06/2024 09:46

LadyHavelockVetinari · 12/06/2024 09:29

I actually think that these are just this generation's slang that they also use offline (like "slay"), and so essentially fine - although being over 21 I would never use them myself. I think the internet just gives me more exposure to how teenagers talk than you'd usually get unless you are a teenager or have them in your family. I agree with every single one in your first post, though! Rage!

For me it's "So I did a thing" followed by a photo of anything from a loaf of baked bread to a book to a baby.

I can stand “I did a thing.”

It always makes me feel like they need to post a picture of a weird bowel motion.

orangesnotlemons · 12/06/2024 09:47

So many of these haha.

Also 'about last night...' I don't know why that annoys me so much!

takealettermsjones · 12/06/2024 09:48

Some of you never (did normal thing) and it shows

LeilaDarling · 12/06/2024 09:49

A pop of colour

just like that

both induce severe irrational rage of epic proportions in me, I can’t even explain why!

KarenSmithsWeatherBoobs · 12/06/2024 09:50

And just like that...

Calliopespa · 12/06/2024 09:52

A MN one: “Hope you have support IRL.”

Nope: that’s why she’s just tearfully typed out a long post to a bunch of usernames.

JudgeJ · 12/06/2024 09:52

ShillyShallySherbet · 12/06/2024 05:56

The whole lot of it gives me the ick. Deleted all social media.

Reading page 1 I'm so pleased to be too old for it all and not to give a damn!

SinisterBumFacedCat · 12/06/2024 09:52

I follow a married at first sight fan site on instagram and they always announcing when someone is “soft launching” or “hard launching” a new partner, it’s so fucking annoying.

Also “my heart stopped when….” No it didn’t. You are still alive typing this.

DifficultBloodyWoman · 12/06/2024 05:34

#bekind will cause me to kill someone soon

Yes! Especially when you see it as a filter on their profile pic when they are being an absolute cnut to someone.
