Was at gym. Girl with her mum but wearing the kind of gym wear a 23 y old would wear.

I had a judgemental moment. It just seemed weird.

None of your business. Not very nice that you are judging what a child is wearing. Leggings and a crop top is fine for the gym, dance etc.

My 6 year old has a little gym set, it came with a crop top, leggings and a baggy t-shirt. She often just wears the crop top. She looks cute in it 🤷

Is to me. Not appropriate, they’re not physically ready for gym equipment. It can be dangerous.

Don’t see any other problem. Do you disapprove of kids in swimsuits at the pool, too?

A mum I know posted sm photos of her (quite tall) eight year old wearing only shorts, nothing else, on a beach with her new teen step brother. I thought I wouldn't want that to be me at eight.

It unfortunately the trend. I blame the Kardashianisation of childhood.

She is a child, she is wearing clothes. That is a you issue, we teach children younger than her not to judge others by appearance or clothing, you appear to have missed that lesson.

I wouldn't allow my 8 year old daughter to wear a bra top, but then I also wouldn't wear one either. Completely inappropriate.

I wouldn't see a problem here. 8yo girls don't generally have boobs, so even if you subscribe to the idea that women's chests are somehow more obscene than men's, it wouldn't apply to a child of that age. She was in a gym and accompanied by an adult. I don't understand what you think the problem is.

It was gymwear, she was in the gym. People working out generally dress lightly and for freedom of movement. Much as people swimming dress to be weighed down as little as possible in the water.

I disagree. Far more appropriate for flat chested kiddies than adult women with pendulous boobs as mine were (only have one now so not a piece of clothing g I’d consider anyway 😁).

My DD has a crop top which she is allowed to wear for gymnastics and other sports (but not out generally). I think that’s fine.

Admittedly this has nothing to do with being at the gym... My 14 year old step daughter stayed over with two school friends the other week, all of them went out shopping for the day wearing hoodies and t shirts but all with similar pairs of skin tight shorts that barely covered their bum cheeks. Before I'm accused of being 'an old fart', I must stress that these shorts were smaller than hot pants...just miniscule. I quietly asked my partner if he was happy with his daughter wearing that and he just shrugged, it's the fashion apparently. I just worry that these children, who have the bodies of adult women, are just kids at the end of the day and there'll have been plenty of men ogling them which made me super uncomfortable.

Why aren’t 8 year old boys encourage to wear tight tops and figure hugging bottoms?
