A great and well-deserved honour for Sir Alan.

Just noticed on TwitterX that the legal website Roll on Friday has this assessment of the Wombles' performances.

Wombles partners 'torn apart' at Post Office inquiry | RollOnFriday

Time to shine!

Confronted with the nasty piece of work that Andrew Parsons was, I almost felt sorry for the out of her depth Paula Vennells having to deal with him. Then I had to sharply remind myself that this was as nothing compared to how the SPMs have been treated.

Quebeccles · 15/06/2024 11:45

There’s an interesting long thread on the Roll on Friday discussion forum on the PV Inquiry appearance too. The reactions the same as on here, pretty much - no sympathy at all.

I find those boards a bit intimidating tbh (IA very much NAL) but they can shed a most illuminating sidelight on big legal cases or tribunals we're following here. And they’re very complimentary about Jason Beer KC!

AutumnCrow · 15/06/2024 12:03

It's interesting (in a good way) that we're in sync with Roll On Friday! Thanks for the link & info, @Quebeccles.

IA very much NAL either, but its great we all agree about Jason Beer KC

Not to lower the tone, but I have a "thing" for Mr Beer.

He can cross examine me anytime.
I'll confess to everything 😇

So, Second Sight tomorrow. Ian Henderson followed by Ron Warmington.

Hearings timetable again:

minou123 · 18/06/2024 00:08

I looking forward to hearing from Ian and Ron from Second Sight.
They have given quite a few interviews.
But what will be different is they have now seen all the internal PO emails criticising them.
I.e Andrew Parsons called them.biased and essentially unprofessional.
I dont think this will be news to Ian and Ron, but it'll be interesting if they address that.

The other person of interest to me is Graham Ward on Thursday. He has already given his witness testimony, so it is strange they are bringing him back.
He was one of the investigators, now works for the police.
He was the investigators for Noel Thomas, who was sent to prison. Graham Ward made "suggestions" to change Gareth Jenkins witness statement for the criminal case.
Anyway, I wonder what the inquiry has found to bring Graham Ward back?

AutumnCrow · 18/06/2024 00:47

Thanks for the reminder about this. I'll be tuning in.

DanielGault · 18/06/2024 07:45

What time does it start? Half 9/9:45?

I think the hearing starts at 9:45 but there's a 3 minute lag for it to become available

Great, thanks a million. I want to be ready!

Quebeccles · 18/06/2024 09:18

I’m very interested to see today’s proceedings.

Quebeccles · 18/06/2024 09:50

Ian Henderson taking the oath with great gusto!

nauticant · 18/06/2024 09:50

First off Henderson asked to correct his witness statement to refer to "Sir Alan Bates" rather than "Alan Bates". That went down well in the room.

Immediate impression is that Henderson is a straightforward chap.

Awwwww, Ian just made a beautiful change to his witness statement.

He wrote 'Alan Bates' and asked for this to be changed to Sir Alan Bates

Gallery loved it. Beautiful ❤

Ian Henderson taking the oath with great gusto!

He did, didn't he!

He was quite pointedly looking at someone when he said "truth". I wonder who is there.

HomelessAngua · 18/06/2024 09:56

Work is in the way! I wanted to see this...

PS Should I mention that I am an auditor?

nauticant · 18/06/2024 09:58

If you can add auditor-based expertise to the chat I'd say it's best for you to put the work to one side and join in.

I have the week off work, so can spend some time watching this week.

@HomelessAngua , I may ask questions if I dont understand some of the terminology, if that's OK?

dewfirst · 18/06/2024 10:04

I’m supposed to be ‘elsewhere’ but this is fascinating .
Isn’t it wonderful to have answers readily made ….
Honest people don’t prevaricate .

Peregrina · 18/06/2024 10:07

I loved the way Mr Henderson smiled at making the correction!

Yes, he positively beamed

nauticant · 18/06/2024 10:20

Jason Beer KC asked the inevitable question: What impression did you form of Jarnail Singh? Henderson: He seemed to be an administrator rather than a lawyer and was largely clueless if asked anything in particular.

OP posts:
Quebeccles · 18/06/2024 10:20

Ooof, Jarnail 'I don’t know how to print out a document' Singh's not coming out of this well
