It would be entertaining to see Parsons be asked about the Grabiner evidence on Tuesday. It came to light that Parsons deflected blame for failure of the recusal application, and the resultant mess, by spreading a concocted story that that a related application to appeal was refused by the Court of Appeal maybe because the High Court judge, Justice Fraser, was mates with the appeal judge, Lord Justice Coulson.

Parsons should be asked if rumour-mongering is part of his normal practice when losing cases.

They had to coerce at least Fujitsu witness to give evidence. That's a great way to present a persuasive case.

Oh what, Mr Malioney is not going to ask questions.

Is it because Jo and his other clients were criminally convicted, so there's no point asking.AP questions?
Anything to do with the criminal side. AP has been denting being involved.

nauticant · 14/06/2024 10:52

One reason for this is that he has no experience or qualifications to give proper advice on criminal matters and any of the advice he did give, while "being a conduit", it would not be covered by WBD's professional indemnity insurance. Therefore, if as a result of that advice Post Office acted in a way that caused harm to any subpostmasters, that could result in a legal action against WBD in which they could be sued and they would be unable to hide behind their insurers.

This is the kind of thing that could be Parsons booted out of WBD so he's particularly antsy about it.

Sorry, posted too soon.
No, I think Mr Maloney said it was because the document he was going to address had been dealt with.

Quebeccles · 14/06/2024 10:57

now it's 'we' again when he’s asked about his actions.

minou123 · 14/06/2024 11:00

What's a CQR?

This must be really interesting for Howe & Co, Freeths, Shoosniths etc to see the internal POL emails about them.

nauticant · 14/06/2024 11:13

In an announcement of 26 August 2013, POL established an independent mediation scheme for SPMRs, overseen by a Working Group ("the Scheme").
The membership of the Working Group comprised POL, the JFSA and Second
Sight.
...
POL contributed £1,500 (ex-VAT) to each Scheme applicant for the purposes of obtaining professional advice to articulate the complaint. Each applicant submitted a case questionnaire review ("CQR") to POL and Second Sight. In some cases evidence was supplied. Each case was then the subject of a detailed investigation by the Post Office Investigations Department which produced a Post Office Investigation Report ("POIR") for each case on the basis of the evidence which could be examined, given the passage of time.

Lunde · 14/06/2024 11:14

He is a weasel

minou123 · 14/06/2024 11:16

Thank you @nauticant

toddlepod · 14/06/2024 11:21

He is a weasel, totally agree.

Mr Henry has got his carnassials round Parson's tenderloins....

Peregrina · 14/06/2024 11:22

What is the point about not taking notes, which provoked laughter?

minou123 · 14/06/2024 11:24

That makes sense now. Howe & co prepared the CQR for thier clients in the mediation scheme.
A lot of time and money and care went into preparing them.

Only to find out that WBD and the POL had no intention of treating the mediation scheme seriously and in fact had no intention of settling. I.e a complete waste of time.

In fact, the whole purpose was a fishing excerise fur WBD and POL to find out what evidence the SPMR had.

Absolutely disgusting.

Lunde · 14/06/2024 11:25

Peregrina · 14/06/2024 11:22

What is the point about not taking notes, which provoked laughter?

I think it was the reference to Jarnail Singh - who was the totally incompetent PO lawyer who claimed not to know how to print documents or send e-mail

GoldenMalicious · 14/06/2024 11:26

Peregrina · 14/06/2024 11:22

What is the point about not taking notes, which provoked laughter?

The reference was to Jarnail Singh (POL's in house lawyer) who has previously given evidence to the Inquiry. Mr Singh's quality of evidence was somewhat lacking (polite) - his typed notes were riddled with grammatical and spelling errors and he generally claimed to be technically illiterate.

Quebeccles · 14/06/2024 11:26

Mr Henry's giving him a proper dressing-down, isn’t he?

minou123 · 14/06/2024 11:32

He can't have it both way's:

▪︎ Have his grubby mitts all.over the criminal cases, being the "conduit" for the legal advice and happily involved with the decision making.
▪︎ But now saying - nope I'm not a criminal lawyer, nothing to do with me.

You can't be both.

I understand he is desperate to keep WMB out of the criminal cases, but ths is the most stupidest thing I've heard.

PerkingFaintly · 14/06/2024 11:36

Ooh, that's a damaging admission. He's just said it was completely obvious that if there were any flaws in Horizon, all the legal actions were toast.

minou123 · 14/06/2024 11:45

Ole' Andy here loves to be involved in gossip and conspiracy theories.
Spreading gossip about Judge's inappropriate relationships
And now, going through Second Sights emails, implying they had dodgy dealings with the SPMR.
