Looking at pictures in the media there were photos of those knives in the boys homes in their bedrooms. What parent would tolerate that?

MaturingCheeseball · 11/06/2024 15:01

Even a good mother could not keep a 12-year-old in against their will. They are physically strong. If these boys have fathers I’d be surprised.

They are children, they have terrible judgement - the most dangerous age is 14.

Bad judgement??? Bad judgment is nicking a pack of polos from the corner shop ffs, not brutally attacking and killing a person.

Think about the attack, they didn't just stab him once , they repeatedly brutalised and stabbed that poor young man in an utterly vicious and unprovoked attack. To carry that out , you have something seriously seriously wrong with you, however old you are.

12 year olds certainly know right from wrong and the very last thing our broken criminal system needs is people like you excusing them for 'bad judgement'.

I hope the Judge throws the book at them.

A good mother's 12 year old son wouldn't need restraining. They would have love, respect and kindness for their mother and everyone else.

Sorry but stop and search has been proven to be racist. That isnt a deterrant or the answer as to why a 12 year old murdered someone with a machete,.

Was trying to dig out the latest Home Office stats and it appears that 14% of stop and search leads to an arrest. Imagine that, 1 in 7 people you stop and search is a wrong'un. That's incredibly effective. Just think how many black boys could be prevented from being stabbed with a hit rate like that.

Ok and how many black boys are also unfairly targeted because of their race, leading to further distrust and anger?

This is what happens when authority is taken away from teachers, parents, police and the judiciary. This has been a slow burn for 40 years and look where it has got us. An out of control benefits culture, no consequences for bad behaviour. Children with no strong role models, too many do Gooders shouting about people's "rights" to do as they please, to disrupt other peoples lives, no respect, no manners.
Treating nasty little thugs with kid gloves. I laughed out loud when it was reported that the 2 12 year old machete murderers were treated like little lambs, Barristers and judge please take off your wigs, they might feel intimidated. Jesus christ on a fucking 3 wheeler bike, is this where we are at?
I'm a firm believer in spare the rod and spoil the child. What these little bastards needed was a few bloody good hidings and be put firmly in the knowledge that they need to behave.....or else.
Oh and some so called "parents" should be forcibly sterilised. Put armed soldiers on the streets patrolling. Stop these fuckers from attacking and murdering innocent citizens.
How much worse does it need to get before someone actually the balls to wake up and smell the coffee?
Now hand me my arse on a plate!!!

Edited

They were probably raised on good hidings.

But they are as likely to be a victim of knife crime as a perpetrator of it.

I don't know what the solution is but, while the method of stop and search can be said to be racist, then I think it's no more racist than allowing for the status quo, and only grand plans for a revised social system ( never going to happen) to salve your conscience.

You're right, far better that they get stabbed and die.

I don't think I said or implied that they suddenly became murderous thugs. In fact, I totally agree-I would be amazed if their behaviour went from 0 to 100 overnight. Do you think their parents should have realised, as we both agree this was probably a slow train coming.

What on earth were their parents doing about it?

I don't disagree with your point about Sure Start centres at all but why have are you ignoring parental responsibility.

You have held up the failings of other agencies but the only time you have alluded to the parents is to point out their benefits shouldn't be stopped!

Does that not seem ridiculous to you? It does to me.

Most parents of feral kids don’t give a fuck what their kids are doing. Some places near me are lawless now. Horrible.

I see their feelings were taken into account in court though with the judges and Barristers having to take their wigs off and family allowed to sit with them. What a fucking joke. These little twats should be locked up forever as there is no hope for them. Why waste millions on rehabilitation. One of them Bulger killers has been back inside a few times for being a nonce. Sick.

bombastix · 11/06/2024 16:15

After long years watching this mess I think it should really be that knife carriers go to prison as a rule. Young people like this rarely do, but it needs to change. Previously we did quite well with minimum sentences for guns, well we need it for knives, and four years. It can be spent in YOI but it should be a minimum.

Cas112 · 11/06/2024 16:17

ToBeOrNotToBee · 10/06/2024 14:48

We need more Stop and Search not less of it.

This and stern sentences for people found carrying

LordPercyPercy · 11/06/2024 16:21

I actually feel like some people enjoy their children behaving like that and upsetting other people.

IntheNest · 11/06/2024 16:53

I feel sorry for the victim & his parents

We should be investigating why this happened

This was not an accident

Weird that you assume thats the only alternative.

Sarah2891 · 11/06/2024 17:11

This crime was absolutely brutal. It's scary that these boys will be released in a short time.

Agree, and probably with the mind set that they are the real misunderstood victims and how horrible its been for them to have been punished.

MaturingCheeseball · 11/06/2024 18:16

I read that the molly-coddling in court and whilst they are in custody is so that there is no chance of the defence going for a mistrial because they were hungry/tired/did not understand/were scared etc etc.

TonTonMacoute · 11/06/2024 18:43

Finestwinesknowntoman · 11/06/2024 10:52

If you want them to learn a lesson they do.

Also they are highly likely to have been neglected and abused. They are both victims and perpetrators. They require the strongest of consequences and to be in a secure setting do that they can’t re-offend, but they also need to be understood in terms of human beings with a likely history of trauma and the impact of this on a still developing brain.

It’s both/and rather than either/or. They need to be treated as the children (likely traumatised and a product of neglect and or abuse, possibly groomed into a gang with this being an initiation) AND perpetrators of an abhorrent violent crime that requires the strongest of intervention to keep society safe.

Poor parenting can actually impair the normal brain development of children. Lack of interaction, love, stimulation from parents means that the infant brain does not develop to reach its full potential. This can never be properly rectified or made up for later. One symptom of this is a lack of empathy for others.

I read that one child lived with a grandmother, and the people in the neighbourhood described them as being out all hours, causing trouble the whole time, some elderly people were frightened of them.

You can be sure nothing was really done about them, as a result one young man is dead and two children will be locked away for god knows how long.
Its so depressing.

KarenOH · 11/06/2024 14:17

I think its a dangerous mix with feeling invincible and estranged from society. The choices someone makes when they decide to carry around a weapon arent ever going to be rational. The fear of being caught just doesnt exist.

Not to mention, there has been no note that the perpetrators were not white. If they were white, they would be even more emboldened to do it.

Moans that stop and search is racist then goes on to leave some snide comment about how they would of been even more emboldened if they were white 🙄
The crime stats around this stuff don't back up what youre saying either quite the opposite actually but ready for you to say that's racist to point out too

Unfortunately this is now what is happening. They ARE getting stabbed and dying

LumiB · 11/06/2024 20:42

And today the London labour mayor instead of focusing on knife crime which has risen in London is focusong on speeding and giving the police more capacity and cameras to issue 1 million speeding fines by the end of the year...

Wtaf!!!

CantDealwithChristmas · 12/06/2024 07:54

I appreciate that this is hardly the main point but I just read that Shawn Seesahai came to the UK to seek treatment for cataracts, he actually was from Anguilla. Does that mean he wasn't actually resident here, he only came to get treatment and therefore presumably was on some kind of holiday visa? Doubly tragic if so, imagine seeing your son off for what's meant to be sight-saving treatment and hopefully a bit of a holiday as well, and then this happens. Jesus.

JMSA · 12/06/2024 08:22

I work with some challenging young people of this age. Their general demographic is 'white Scottish, working class'.
I have no idea if this was a racially motivated crime, but racism is still rife amongst certain groups of young people (as above).

JMSA · 12/06/2024 08:27

And I would bet my life on these boys already being well known to the police, social services etc.
