Easyjet names issue

Booked flights hurriedly for me and DH as his mother is ill and we need get overseas to see her.

Panic checked in then realised I had missed out both of our middle names on the details. The middle names are on our passports

Website says middle names must be included and its £55 each to amend a name.

Should I chance it at the airport or call them and ask for help?

I have my middle name in my passport. I have never used it to book flights, just my first name and surname. I have never had a problem.

sidsgranny · 09/06/2024 18:38

I'd call them and ask. It's important you get to where you're going so if it costs you to amend you need to just suck it up. Not worth chancing it and stressing DH as I'm sure he's stressed enough already.

BingAndTing · 09/06/2024 18:39

I fly monthly
I've never written my middle name with any airline even though its on my passport. Nor does my DH.
Will be fine

Chilledonsunday · 09/06/2024 18:40

I did this recently with EasyJet, I phoned and they changed it for me free of charge.

Orangello · 09/06/2024 18:40

It will be fine. I have never included middle names and never had any issues, and I fly very frequently. I wouldn't call them, of course they will tell you to pay the fee.

StarlightLady · 09/06/2024 18:42

I travel regularly for work. Never use my middle name for flight bookings. Have you entered your passport details including the middle names?

For peace of mind l would try and give them a call though, given the circumstances. Make a large mug of coffee first. Your call maybe important to them but you will be held in a queue and answered shortly.

meganorks · 09/06/2024 18:43

I flew with Easyjet last year and only used first and last names. When you book you only use first and last names. I'm sure i checked online and it said thats all you need. I did pay to change one surname however as I didn't realise my friend was double barreling it and didn't look at the passport pic she sent carefully (she's only ever said to me married surname and I'd seen docs previously with just that so didn't even cross my mind.)

Coffeeandchocolate12 · 09/06/2024 18:45

As others have said, we fly regularly with easyJet and we’ve never included middle names on the booking even though they are in the passport.

The most important thing is to make sure you use the full first name. My husband uses a shortened version of his and I once entered that as his name but easyJet changed it free of charge.

It will be fine, you don't need to add middle names. I fly easyJet frequently and I never use my middle names even though they're on my passport.

Zamazenta · 09/06/2024 18:57

To clarify, I didn't put the middle names in when adding the passport info
I feel so stupid

2chocolateoranges · 09/06/2024 18:59

I’ve never given my middle name when booking flights and never had a problem.

Zamazenta · 09/06/2024 19:01

Thanks everyone
Hopefully all will be OK or I'll be £110 down

They are only concerned with first and last names. I don’t have a middle name on passport but DH does. I do all our holiday bookings and have never used his middle name on any bookings and we go away a lot.

StarlightLady · 09/06/2024 19:05

OP, have you checked in yet? If you haven’t most airlines (l haven’t flown EJ for a number of years) will allow you to amend details.

Roselilly36 · 09/06/2024 19:06

Middle names are irrelevant, as long as your first name and surname are spelt exactly as printed in your passports, you won’t have any problems at all boarding your flight.

Keepthosenamesgoing · 09/06/2024 19:07

I never use my middle name since I got in a pickle because my hyphenated middle name is not hyphenated in my passport (not sure why not as it is on my birth cert). Anyway caused a meltdown on one flight because of the auto check-in deciding that Mary-Jane was absolutely not the same as Mary Jane and therefore I must be an imposter.
So ever since I've just omitted it, zero problems. That was about 15 years ago

Maplesyrupandwaffles · 09/06/2024 19:12

Had this exact same situation. It’s not your fault OP as the booking only asks for first and last name. I started an online chat with them and they sorted it.

whoscoatsthatjacket2012 · 09/06/2024 20:39

I've never used my middie name in a booking and it's on my
Passport

I flew with easyjet last month without my middle name on the booking. It wasn't an issue.

StarlightLady · 09/06/2024 21:46

Maybe I’ve misread comments up thread(?) but l think the issue is not so much the name on the booking but the name entered on the passport details advance information.

FawnFrenchieMum · 09/06/2024 21:49

As long as you’re not flying to the US (and as it’s EasyJet you won’t be) you will be fine. I book for work colleagues all the time and never use their middle names.

choccielover36 · 09/06/2024 22:10

I work in travel booking flights daily. You definitely don’t need to include middle names. You will be fine 😄

I was going to say exactly this. The very same is true here!

Zamazenta · 24/06/2024 18:35

OP here
Came back to update that no-one batted an eye at the names "issue", both with mobile boarding passes in the UK and having to physically check in at a desk overseas
