Meanwhile in Sicily the local residents were telling me this morning that they’re worried about a 50º summer again (it was 35 by 11am today…).

Goes to show just how messed up the climate really is these days.

Yes, in Scandinavia where I live we already have climate tourists and it’s only June. Same as last year. They love the 15 degrees and a bit of rain every now and again.

Be careful what you wish for.

It's horrible. Properly affects my mood when you can't get out and do anything.

It has done nothing but rain for weeks in the north west.

I’m North West too, and friends down South don’t believe me when I say it’s rained practically none stop since August last year, bar the odd day. The only good thing is I got some expensive Hunters wellies at Xmas, and my God, have I got my moneys worth out of them….. Also invested in a very pricey rain coat, and pretty pricey brolly. If I have to trudge through the rain every day, might as well style it out….

OhMoreDrama · 09/06/2024 20:47

My heating keeps coming on!

Was down to 3c in some parts of Yorkshire last night!

jelly79 · 10/06/2024 15:30

Bit brighter here today but still breezy!

Long sleeves at a minimum!

But the washing is out!!!

Last night was torrential rain and I think I dreamt that was the finale before the summer starting 🤣

I've got my winter coat on!

VinnieVanDog · 10/06/2024 15:46

Beautiful day in South Devonlittle bit of a cool wind but otherwise really lovely and sunny. Sorry! 😬

Jellycatspyjamas · 10/06/2024 15:55

It’s definitely been around 13 degrees in Dec/Jan before. A mild winter’s day but it has happened. It’s not often 0 degrees in Winter.

Depends on where you are, I’m in Scotland and regularly have 0 degree weather, it didn’t get above 3 degrees where I am for most of January and a good bit of February.

Yes it was a very damp and mild winter in the SE. We didn’t have many frosts.

Anyway I’d actually prefer proper Winter weather (cold and snow) then proper summer weather. Rather than a variation of about 5 degrees and it’s just lighter in the evening. But we can’t sit out in it because it’s too cold.

A cool wind wouldn’t be my definition of a nice day but at least you have sun!

Lucky you but we don't all live in the balmy south. ☀️

In Scotland it's nearly always 0C and usually worse in winter 🥶

13C in winter would be taps aff/scorchio/get the bbq 🍗 on weather

No not lucky at all. That’s my point.
I’m not disagreeing that it’s different temperatures in different parts of the country. I’d quite like a proper cold, snowy winter like they get in Scotland.

My point is - currently for those in the rest of England, this weather at around 15 degrees doesn’t feel much different to winter. Which was mild and damp and awful.

15 degrees really isn’t summery weather though. Wherever you live!

In North West too. Yep, I was wearing my big winter coat again today - I've worn it practically every day since last July.

We had a couple of nice days in May - shorts weather - and the garden was still sodden from all the rain.

I live in the Middle East where the temperature at the moment is 38 degrees and the humidity is running down my windows. It's horrible and it will get worse until about October. I'd swap in a heartbeat😅

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 10/06/2024 17:01

We’ve had everything today, blustery wind, rain, sun came out for a bit, now the sky is dark grey and we’ve got a bit of a tornado blowing and some horizontal rain.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 10/06/2024 18:42

Not so much in the way of rain here in North Yorkshire today, but I've been in my Oodie all day. Went out to walk the dog (in the Oodie) and was cold - that northerly wind is FREEZING! Little bit of sunshine, but that's only warm if you were out of the wind, which was almost impossible today.

All my roses are blown to bits. Just as well I can't sit out in the garden in the sun and enjoy them, because there's not much of them left.

We had that here! Lunchtime, was chatting to DP on the phone, saying “Ooh! suns out, just going to put the whites out on the line..” then looked up at the funny drumming noise on the window - it was pouring down! It’s rained on and off all afternoon and it’s bloody cold as well! According to weather forecast, this is it for the next week or so 😱* - in 11 days time, it is the longest day of the year, high summer, etc!*

Just waiting for some twat to come on saying how it snowed in June once upon a cunting time…..

Agreed! After having been brought up on that story (it happened in the town where my parents grew up) I have to admit I got rather sick of it.

Have you always been used to having regular hailstone showers in June too Gingers?!

Singleandproud · 11/06/2024 07:31

I did a summer preparedness course with the Met Office for work yesterday, they do the same courses for 'civilians' too you just need to book on them it was very interesting if you like weather stuff. According to the instructor it's meant to get colder and wetter still and then the air mass that has caused this unseasonable weather will move off and we are likely to have heat waves, so can come back and moan about how hot it is rather than how rainy and cold.

GalacticalFarce · 11/06/2024 21:48

@Singleandproud this is the problem for us - sudden weather changes. We never get a chance to acclimatise to the summer as it's suddenly from 14 to 28.
I went for a nice June summer evening walk. Yeah right. Flipping freezing in my t shirt and jacket. Now on the sofa in a blanket.

jelly79 · 17/06/2024 21:41

Did we just make it a whole day with no rain.... I think we did 🙏

Oooh when are these heatwaves due? (I'll cry if it's when I am on holiday!)

Not for my area! Got absolutely drenched picking the kiddos up from school 😬

OhMoreDrama · 18/06/2024 09:01

My kids' sports day has been cancelled because the school field is flooded so badly. Was looking forward to it too because I missed the last one because I was unwell.

Totally fed up now!
