Cam Work?

Tryingmybest14 · 05/06/2024 17:34

Single mum of 2 and struggling.

Really considering cam work (anonymously) for extra cash. My friend does it and all seems ok.

My worry is that I work in a school 30hours a week, I work in admin. I’m worried that if I do decide to start the camming for extra cash that this could jeopardise my current job?

im aware some people don’t agree with camming and I respect that but I’m sick of being skint.

If school found out then yes it could jeopardise your job. Can you not find a job with more hours?

Hermittrismegistus · 05/06/2024 17:39

No matter how anonymous you think you are, there is always some weirdo out there with the ability to find out all your personal info.

FourOfDiamonds · 05/06/2024 17:42

Honestly I would only do it if you are prepared to loose your current job should the school find out.

Illpickthatup · 05/06/2024 17:44

I don't see why it's the school's business. If it doesn't affect your day job they should keep their nose out.

Feelingmentallyunsettled · 05/06/2024 17:46

If you want to be a sex worker it's your choice. But I don't see how that is compatible with working in a school.

You happy with sex workers working at your children’s school? Surely you can imagine why others wouldn’t be?

I used to work in a school and this would be considered ‘something that might bring the school into disrepute’.
So don’t do anything that might get the school into the newspaper, even the local rag.

I work in an office away from any children, I have no direct contact them.

as I said I would be anonymous, not show my face etc.

I don’t think I’ll do it, the extra cash is certainly not worth risking my job over, it’s hard as I can’t work anymore hours as I have no help with the kids

As long as everyone involved are consenting adults I don't see the issue. Non of my business.

You need to be prepared for coworkers and parents to be clients. You need to be prepared for your family, friends, and even someday children to end up viewing your content. Though hopefully children would be years away if it happened. You really will have very little control over the material that is generated and anonymity is not guaranteed.

according to my friend you can block while counties/areas to prevent this happening.

it was just an idea. Feeling a little sad and desperate. My eldests birthday next week and money is tight.

Christ it's hardly sex work and even if it was by definition then it's not really anyone's business.
It wouldn't impact the kids at school in any way whatsoever, all teachers/staff have a private life that GASP includes nudity and sex.
That said, the school would not want their reputation put in jeopardy by any staff working in the adult industry.. so unless it's 100% anonymous, with zero distinguishing features whatsoever, faceless, plain background, voice alteration then don't put yourself through the humiliation of potentially being discovered and fired for this purpose. How would you feel if a parent sussed it was you and gossiped/informed your community and employer? That would be difficult to come back from personally and professionally. Think this through from all angles.

Yoopoy · 05/06/2024 17:57

pick literally any other idea but this. Anon often doesn’t stay anon for long, your face will slip into view for example. You are likely to make very little money out of it, in a sea of cam women you will be asked to show your face or do degrading things.
Realistically you’re unlikely to make decent money.

Reminds me of a thread not long ago where a young woman on Only Fans was upset because her ex science teacher paid for her content.
Why she was shocked about her ex teacher paying was rather peculiar as she didn't have any moral qualms over her other clients.

IfYoureHappyAndYouKnowItHaveAGin · 05/06/2024 18:01

I don't think cam work, especially not showing your face, is going to give you the income you hope for.

OF is where most men go now, and its difficult to make a lot of money on there, certainly not enough to risk your job for.

There are other jobs you can do online that will give you an hourly income, maybe have a look elsewhere.

ExpressCheckout · 05/06/2024 18:09

Clean simple answers please for someone who is ignorant of these things!

What do people 'do' on the cam? Is it like a live show (like a strip club) or something different? Do people pay? How, on a credit card? Do they see who is watching, like a webcam?

Sorry I'm very naive about this kind of thing! Blush

There’s likely to be a clause around reputation and high professional standards - you could argue whether sex work is compatible with that but I do think they’d argue sex work is not compatible with working with children.

MountCaramel · 05/06/2024 18:14

I wouldn't bother if I where you, this is a massive safeguarding issue. People are so clever with technology nowadays that it's very rare to stay completely anonymous.

Imagine the impact on you, your children and your career if you were outed. Look for another job if you want to increase your salary rather than this. Have a look at hybrid or remote roles to save on commuting costs:

Or even your dad! I read a story just last week where a woman on onlyfans unknowingly was making porn for her dad...🤢

No don't do it.
Morally I don't think there is anything wrong with it (maybe that says something about me, who knows).
But I think it may cause you more issues than it solves problems.
Being a single parent is really hard but I would have another think of ways to up your income.
Good luck.

No different to teachers who go out and get wasted at the weekend.

What kind of cam work is it where you can't see your face? You just gonna shut the door to the bedroom, and stick objects up your arse while horrible men say disgusting things you? While your kids are next door?

Really think about it.
