You know those little things in life that people like to morally police and make you feel guilty about but you just can't muster up the shit to give?

This is a confession thread. I'll start.

I don't give a shit that you supposedly shouldn't feed bread to ducks. I don't care. Don't eat it then. People have been feeding them bread for decades and now we're supposed to bring them organic bloody walnuts or something? Or some other crap they don't want that doesn't float?
They can have my slightly mouldy bread and be grateful.

Over to you.

And pandas. Don't forget the pandas 🐼

Even pandas aren't interested in other pandas.

"Would you like to shag that panda over there and try to save your species from extinction?"

"... Meh. Sounds like hard work."

heathspeedwell · 01/06/2024 15:23

@OneLimeShark you are very out of date on trans issues. A few years ago there was a distinction between transvestites and transsexuals. Then Stonewall added cross dressers under the trans umbrella.

Now 95% of men who identify as trans have a working penis and no intention of ever removing it. There's absolutely no need for a transwoman to have any kind of surgery, hormones or anything else to change from a man to a transwoman - all they have to do is claim they have a feeling.

Oh sorry...I'm confused then. Not sure if anyone said they are biological women or if they did who it was... nevermind.

But anyway, what's a woman? It seems some people believe it's a physical state ie being female and others seem to believe it's a feeling? What do you think?

Biological women are women by sex.

Trans women are women by gender.

In all honesty I don't purport to be an expert on the matter but as someone who lost a friend to suicide because they were incessantly bullied for identifying as trans I feel people should just be kinder and keep hurtful opinions (which they are completely entitled to) to themselves.

After all, we would show social tact and not body shame someone for their appearance so why do some people feel it's ok to shame people for feeling trapped in the wrong body?

We have the medical means to help these people so let them transition and live their lives in peace. There is too much hatred and violence in the world already without causing more.

I do understand why some biological women feel threatened and we absolutely should have discussions around making them feel safer but we can't have those discussions if one side is even refusing to acknowledge the existence of the other.

OneLimeShark · 01/06/2024 15:25

@heathspeedwell Not as out of date as many others here.

Woman is a biological descriptor, like tall is a descriptor of height. Women means an adult human female, like mare means a female horse and so on.
It does not mean someone who likes wearing skirts, if that were the case then all the scots guards would have been called women back in the day when they wore kilts.

heathspeedwell · 01/06/2024 15:26

@OneLimeShark it's actually considered transphobic to suggest that men who identify as transwomen 'transition'. There doesn't need to be any process at all.

Could someone explain to me what a gender is?
Genuine question, I have been trying for ages to find out.

No one should be bullied or mocked...I'm sorry about your friend.

However, I don't personally believe in gender. There is biological sex. Male, female and in incredibly rare cases intersex conditions.

Please can you define 'biological woman' if you're claiming your last sentence is accurate?

In a nutshell: @bouquetofpheasants misquoted @OneLimeShark and now it looks like she's making a statement that she strongly disagrees with... even though @OneLimeShark actually didn't say it in the first place.

Hope that helps 😂

@Tana433

HOW MANY TIMES??????

I have clearly made the distinction between biological women and trans women.

But you are so blinded by your transphobia you can't see past your bigotry!

Trans women are not biological women but they are women!!!

Get past your antiquated notions of gender and get in the 21st century!

Trans women are not biological women but they are women!!!
no they are not, multiple exclamation marks doesn’t make it true

It was easier when we were just discussing duck rape.

Fariha31 · 01/06/2024 15:31

No one can explain to me what a gender is?
Seriously laws are being made on this and no one can describe or explain it?

heathspeedwell · 01/06/2024 15:31

Sadly men who identify as women are just as likely (if not more likely) to be violent as any other men. The prison figures from show that around 70% of transwomen in prison have committed violent or sexual crimes.

Men, however they identify, do not belong in women's toilets or changing rooms. I'm sorry if this makes some men feel sad, but keeping women and girls safe is far more important.

This is it isn't it.

We are expected to believe that trans women pose the same risk to us as women do. Whereas they pose the same risk as men do to us.

Your OP is disgusting and you ought to be ashamed of yourself, if you can't give them something that isn't harmful to them then just don't bother feeding the ducks if you have so little feeling or care for animals. Honestly might be the worst thing I've read on here, just mean, nasty and cruel.

Really - the worst thing you've ever read here???

Women are more likely to kill their own children esp single mothers - and you think men are violent? Gtfoh

Aria999 · 01/06/2024 15:35

@Fariha31 I expect you can use Google as well as the next person and are just making a point.

However here is the WHO definition:

Gender refers to the characteristics of women, men, girls and boys that are socially constructed. This includes norms, behaviours and roles associated with being a woman, man, girl or boy, as well as relationships with each other.

The idea of gender as the set of social expectations and norms put on people based on their biological sex is much older than the trans debate.

There's a really stauch bunch of royalists on here (they refer to themselves as the pedantics) who literally have a melt down and start pearl clutching if I say princess Meghan or princess Kate apparently I'm supposed to address meghan as hrh duchessof Sussex (comma) Meghan and Kate is supposed to be her Majesty the princess of Wales (comma) Katherine. But I always throw caution to the wind when I say princess Meghan or princess Kate they evidently must know who I am referencing (cue horror and burst blood vessels from the pedantics) lol
