Vile evil piece of work :(
Dunno how she can look at herself in the mirror

I agree. Pretends she is sorry for her victims. But taking no ownership of the part she played. Disgusting creature. Can't bear to watch her.

murasaki · 22/05/2024 15:28

Oph, she's remembering something.

Quebeccles · 22/05/2024 15:29

Just a reminder:

‘Ms Vennells earned £5.1m during her time at the helm of the Post Office, peaking at £718,300 in 2018. That year her base salary was £253,800 and she earned £390,800 in bonuses (plus pensions and other benefits)’

So when she starts complaining that a document was very hard because it had lots of clauses and needed lots of work to understand, I’d venture to say that understanding a hard document was her bloody job. And a generously well-paid one at that. Utterly disgraceful.

I've just shouted the same thing at the telly

littlbrowndog · 22/05/2024 15:29

It was her well paid job to understand

Isn't that more, or about the same, as the Prime Minister?

It's been illuminating to discover that you can earn a fuck ton of money as head of an organisation while apparently not having a clue what's going on in it, or being expected to take responsibility for finding out.

Where do I apply?

I have often said this - we are always being told the reason these twats get paid a fortune is a combination of the exceptional pressures of the job and their unique capabilities. Oddly, if things go wrong it seems that they actually know fuck all and do fuck all, but still get paid a fucking stack.

Crumpleton · 22/05/2024 15:31

SinnerBoy · 22/05/2024 11:10

She prosecuted people, knowing that there were serious flaws with the system and then denied it. I'm sure that her victims will be able to see her prosecuted for malicious prosecution, as well as possibly misfeasance in a public office.

This whole case needs looking into from first the numbers not tallying up to those having been sent to prison.
There are so many layers to this case.

I do wonder what evidence those post office workers were sent to prison on, what solid evidence was presented to the Magistrates/Judges in order for those sentences to be handed down by them.

I’m trying to watch on YouTube - am I missing something? There’s just a placeholder screen and I can’t see live coverage.

Many times more. The PM’s salary is about £160k a year.

The inquiry is on a short break, back at twenty to 4.

IncompleteSenten · 22/05/2024 15:35

Her manipulative, self serving tears are revolting and insulting to the people the post office destroyed.

@MikeRafone

A lot of people are utterly stupid.

What people put in emails or do in recorded team meetings, honestly, is shocking.

I'm actually convinced some don't care.

It's often people in positions of "power" who do this. They've got away with it for too long, and think it'll never catch up to them and no one will report it

I've done minute taking at meetings, people are often very upset when they read back what they have said and will argue to get it take out of minutes. I never lied or added anything so I just thought tough if you don't like it you shouldn't have said it. I've had people fall out with me as they expected me to edit what they said.

takemeawayagain · 22/05/2024 15:37

Oh my heart bleeds for her.

She has Martin Griffiths's blood on her hands.

No men. How very interesting. Does Pope Paula see them as more disposable, less credible?

littlbrowndog · 22/05/2024 15:40

I think they just believe they are so powerful and elite that it will all be fine. Just like the blood transfusion and the maternity report.

Quite, me too. Even funnier when it's on a teams transcript that can't be edited, even if the official minutes end up briefer. I just refer them back.....

Rodric Williams post office lawyer. Another one who did not recall a thing

Horrace · 22/05/2024 15:45

I'm supposed to be working but this is too good to miss.

I can't believe how long the victims have had to wait for this

littlbrowndog · 22/05/2024 15:47

Mr McCormack told in 2014 to Vennels that the horizon system was wrong. She ignored him and she ignored him in 2015

At the very least, someone should give the carbon monoxide detector a tap at HQ.

BigMandsTattooPortfolio · 22/05/2024 15:52

This has to be one of the most unusual cases of collective amnesia ever witnessed at an inquiry.

Vennells has absolutely no moral compass whatsoever. A practiced liar and deflector.

nonumbersinthisname · 22/05/2024 15:53

As an ordained Christian minister, Vennels will know very well that true contrition starts with thorough self examination and honesty about what you have done wrong. Only when you have admitted the extent of your “sins” then can you go about genuinely seeking forgiveness, making amends for the wrongs you have done and changing your behaviour so you don’t do it again.

I can’t see into her soul, but her public statements and behaviour give me no indication whatsoever that she has done any of that and that she is, in fact, in any way, sorry.

murasaki · 22/05/2024 15:55

Jason Beer is very good. I do enjoy watching a skilled craftsman at work.

AutumnCrow · 22/05/2024 15:56

Business Leader, Independent and Telegraph articles determined that Vennells the crack business whizz was [my words] a fucking liability. Their research found that during her time as CEO, the Post Office went from losing £120 million in 2012/13 to reporting a profit of £35 million in 2017/18. However, the liabilities now known to have accrued over that period due to the Horizon scandal were estimated in early 2024 to be £160 million in compensation and £298 million in ongoing legal fees already paid, and £1 billion of taxpayer money set aside for future compensation.

Vennells had an interest in the facade of leadership and profitability during the Horizon scandal years.
