She's hoping her god is a merciful one.

I found the comment about 'noise' so insulting. They were valid complaints, and even if they felt they weren't, should have been looked at.

gardenmusic · 22/05/2024 15:08

I want to see prosecution and prison sentences for all those who could reasonably have known that there was something 'not quite right' going on.

murasaki · 22/05/2024 15:00

I bet she's regretting not bringing her emotional support animal as seen in recent tribunals.

Look, a squirrel!

It ran away - doesn't want anything to do with her!

littlbrowndog · 22/05/2024 15:10

She doesn’t seem to think she has done anything wrong.

AutumnCrow · 22/05/2024 15:10

Susan Crichton joins Angela under the bus.

porridgecake · 22/05/2024 15:11

I am watching this, open mouthed, on You tube. I have work I should be doing, but this is extraordinary. As are the comments in the live chat. All the emails are being shown on the screen.

Susan Crichton joins Angela under the bus.

We're going to need a bigger bus.

I agree, whilst she's the public face of it and drove things, other people are also complicit and should not escape punishment, either.

Slight tangent... Excellent username, BTW!

TheHateIsNotGood · 22/05/2024 15:13

There have been some truly awful PO HQ witnesses throughout this Inquiry, with none of them having much recollection of anything. There is an overuse too of they expression "trying to understand" which most people would have understood what was going on with Horizon.

And PV's crocodile tears are truly nauseating.

And meanwhile whilst this vomit inducing circus is being dragged out to the max, the sub postmasters (who are still alive) haven't received proper or even any compensation.

I believe around £150m has been paid out to date including interim payments. Final figures will be significantly north of that though. There's a tracker for the various compensation schemes on the Post Office website.

Love how she tried to take control of the line of questioning and the barrister floored her without even breaking a sweat.

Note to Paula Vennels: don't attempt to cross swords with barristers because they're seriously good at their jobs. Unlike you, Paula, who seems to know so very little about your job that it's a miracle you even found your way into your office every morning.

BoreOfWhabylon · 22/05/2024 15:16

I hope ths upright christian does jail time.

She can use it to reflect on what Jesus said about whited sepulchres.

littlbrowndog · 22/05/2024 15:17

She was warned in 2015 she would be open to criminal charges. She ignored it and carried on regardless

I think it's called "the Nicola Sturgeon defence".

I propose all politicians or public officials have to take a memory test before assuming office. Then sign a document saying they will pay £1000 towards paying off the national debt for every time they "can't remember" something during a public enquiry.

It's not "Mastermind". You're not answering questions about someone else who lived 500 years ago!

Ngl, I do like this.

But I would like to get these morally stunted idiots out of postions of power even more.

Alltheyearround · 22/05/2024 15:18

Angela Von de Boegel sounds like someone James Bond might have a run in with.

Bond: Tell me everything you know about the glitches! The lies! The victims of your dastardly schemes!

Angela: Can't recall but Paula might know.

Coffeegincarbs · 22/05/2024 15:19

I agree that PV and other board members (and Fujitsu) ought to be prosecuted for their parts in the deliberate malign prosecution of the sub post masters and subsequent obstruction of justice.

However I'm sure their legal team will argue that due to all the publicity they wouldnt get a fair trial 🤬

ButterCrackers · 22/05/2024 15:20

LisbonKid · 22/05/2024 14:52

As a vicar, would she have conducted births, deaths and marriages?
I would want my ‘money’ back if so…would feel so cheated…

What a disgrace to her religion and religious office. I agree - you’d feel dirty and need the ceremonies doing again. Prison for life and all assets taken and used to pay compensation.

Yes they should all be prosecuted the whole bunch of them

murasaki · 22/05/2024 15:22

She seems to have no concept that the chief executive is responsible for the culture of the organisation and should be regularly briefed by the SMT so should be aware of the 'folklore' regarding external access amongst everything else.

What is it that she thought her job was?

ZoeCM · 22/05/2024 15:24

So glad the counsel called her out on the fact that she can mysteriously remember details that paint others in a damning light, but not those that do so for the Post Office.

The worst part was the email showing that she wanted to dig up information on the poor man who died by suicide to cover her own arse.

And she's a vicar. LOL. Jesus would be so proud.

Noseyoldcow · 22/05/2024 15:26

I'll eat my hat if she and others culpable get done. Ditto all the bastards that neglected their duty re Grenfell, the tainted blood scandal and all the rest of it.
But since she is a Christian, I'll have to settle for the fact that she believes in hell, because that is surely where she is headed. And she is getting a taster of it during her questioning, due to the heat her pants on fire must be making.

littlbrowndog · 22/05/2024 15:27

Lesley going under the bus

EggcornAcorn · 22/05/2024 15:27

You can see she is getting cross, she is not answering the questions directly, an angry cast to her face.

ruffler45 · 22/05/2024 15:27

Keep wondering exactly what could they charge her with (and hopefully find her guilty) that would send her to jail for a long time (considering all the misery she has caused)?
