If I cancel an order on Vinted without buyer's agreement what will happen?

vintedquestion · 19/05/2024 22:35

I've sold a lot of stuff on Vinted recently as we are moving house, never had any issues whatsoever and 100% 5 star feedback so far from over 60 or so parcels sent in the past month. All good.

However this evening I uploaded an item that I have instantly regretted listing for the price it's at. It's a baby carrier that retails at £160 and I've listed it for £45. It's in pristine barely used condition. Other similar items are selling for in the region of £60-90, so I think I've made a mistake. It's been instantly snapped up, of course. I'm now full of regret and want to cancel it and relist at a more appropriate price.

However, if I do this, will I get negative feedback? I know they'll be refunded, but does Vinted automatically give me negative feedback, or does it give the buyer the option to do so? I don't want to spoil my 100% perfect reviews on there but I also don't want to let this item go for £45 anymore!

Can anyone advise? Thank you

You are really overthinking this. Just cancel the sale if you want to relist for a higher price

Triptastico · 19/05/2024 23:11

Just say I've had a lot of interest for it from another site at a higher price and I just want to give it more time to see if it sells.

Then edit the item and increase the price and block the buyer.

I don't think they can leave you feedback if they haven't bought from you.

I'm really torn about what to do.

If you were the buyer in this situation and I messaged to say I think I've massively underpriced this item so I'm going to relist it, sorry - would you leave negative feedback? 🤔

I absolutely would in this situation, yes.

Mumofoneandone · 19/05/2024 23:14

I've bought several items on vinted that turned out not to be available (have also forgotten to talk odd things down from eBay!). Order was cancelled, seller was apologetic and we all moved on.
I'd just cancel, say there was an issue with the listing and sell through a different platform for better price or just wait a while and relist.....

vintedquestion · 19/05/2024 23:14

Ok I've done it!

I've messaged to apologise profusely that I have realised it's worth more, and cancelled the sale and blocked the person.

Fingers crossed my reviews aren't affected 😬

Just to add, if someone told me that had massively underpriced something, I would expect them to gave missed a decimal point or similar. Not just 25%-50% at most. I would consider that to be cheeky as fuck.

ScottishStardust · 19/05/2024 23:15

To be honest, when buying from Vinted I've never checked the sellers ratings. I wouldn't worry

Ohmych · 19/05/2024 23:15

Good luck I hope you're ok and don't get negative feedback

I wouldn’t say that as it’s bound to annoy them! Then they’d more than likely leave negative feedback. Make up an excuse about why you can’t actually sell it right now rather than just saying you want more money.
Personally I might be inclined to go ahead with the sale though - bird in the hand and it’s a price you were happy with before you realised others were listed for more money. Also just because they’re listed at eg £80 doesn’t mean they’ll sell for that price- seller might end up reducing or taking a much lower offer.

EricHebbornInItaly · 19/05/2024 23:18

If they haven’t paid and ‘purchased a label’ you can cancel without getting bad feedback.

Oh really? It's the first thing I check to make sure they're reliable.

They did pay and purchase a label 😣
But they'll be refunded, I've had an email to say that they will.

I'd certainly be annoyed.

Not sure if I'd leave negative feedback.

Fillyfrog · 19/05/2024 23:28

I don't know why you told them why!

That would really annoy me.

There are loads of reasons you could pick 🙈

Oh god you really shouldn’t have said that.
They deserve to fuck your feedback for that.

”It’s damaged” is the thing to have said.

Why on earth would you tell the truth?!

Fedupmumofadultsons · 19/05/2024 23:38

Sorry but how cowardly to block someone because you became greedy I would leave bad feed back uou are a cheeky sod let's be honest

Oh yeah really a "cheeky sod" for wanting what my item is worth🤣

Me too. It's a bit of a dirty trick, the buyer could be desperate and then to block is even more shitty and cowardly.

JulianFawcettMP · 20/05/2024 00:01

@vintedquestion yes because it war your mistake. The buyer did nothing wrong

ButWhatAboutTheBees · 20/05/2024 00:05

If I got told the buyer was refunding my item because they thought they could get more money for it then I'd be pissed off an definitely want to leave bad feedback!

Exactly, the OP listed the item at the price she chose:
her being careless and pricing it incorrectly isn’t the buyer’s fault at all. I’d be really pissed off to be blocked for a seller’s incompetence and not being able to leave a review.

BertieBotts · 20/05/2024 00:45

Don't worry, they can only leave a review for completed transactions. I wouldn't have messaged explaining, but never mind, it's done now.

bumface232 · 20/05/2024 06:45

I think I'd have made up another reason - 'I'm really sorry I've just gotten this out of storage and it's been eaten by mice' would be more acceptable to a buyer than 'sorry I'm letting you down so I can get more money'.

But sounds like you escaped unscathed.

sososotocvfgft · 20/05/2024 09:55

I've had loads of buyers cancel sales, it's bloody annoying but seems fairly common. Just cancel the sale, not site how quickly you'll be able to relist it though
