If I cancel an order on Vinted without buyer's agreement what will happen?

I've sold a lot of stuff on Vinted recently as we are moving house, never had any issues whatsoever and 100% 5 star feedback so far from over 60 or so parcels sent in the past month. All good.

However this evening I uploaded an item that I have instantly regretted listing for the price it's at. It's a baby carrier that retails at £160 and I've listed it for £45. It's in pristine barely used condition. Other similar items are selling for in the region of £60-90, so I think I've made a mistake. It's been instantly snapped up, of course. I'm now full of regret and want to cancel it and relist at a more appropriate price.

However, if I do this, will I get negative feedback? I know they'll be refunded, but does Vinted automatically give me negative feedback, or does it give the buyer the option to do so? I don't want to spoil my 100% perfect reviews on there but I also don't want to let this item go for £45 anymore!

Can anyone advise? Thank you

It’s fucking irritating but nothing will happen. You need an excuse though- like damage found when packing.

FartingAgainstThunder · 19/05/2024 22:37

Vinted will automatically give you negative feedback but the buyer can change this.
You can message them and explain the situation and hope for the best.

bumface232 · 19/05/2024 22:37

I think Vinted will give you negative auto feedback for cancelling the sale but that's it. If you've got plenty of other good ratings I wouldn't worry too much. Your buyer will be pissed off but rather that than undersell something I guess.

vintedquestion · 19/05/2024 22:38

Thanks @AlltheFs
Will the buyer not get an option to leave bad feedback though? I don't want to spoil my perfect reviews, I've worked hard for those 😭

Ah thanks. This is what I was afraid of 😭

I didn’t when it’s happened to me. Seller messaged with bullshit excuse and refunded. They did communicate their lies well though.

Ilovechocolatetoomuch · 19/05/2024 22:42

I have had to cancel twice before. Once when I washed the boots and a whole layer came off and once when I forgot to take something down and I had given it to my godson.
nothing happened. I didn’t realist though.

Namenamchange · 19/05/2024 22:43

I ended up with negative stars, someone purchased something while I was on holiday, I cancelled the order and tried to contact vinted but the stars remained

Star81 · 19/05/2024 22:45

My buyer cancelled the other day as they didn’t think I’d posted quickly enough when it was only 3 days and ironically was in car on way to be posted when I got the message. . Anyway, Vinted left her automatic negative feedback which she then she was able to add comments too

LetsGoRoundTheRoundabout · 19/05/2024 22:45

You can cancel once without getting negative feedback.

vintedquestion · 19/05/2024 22:47

Urgh maybe I should just take this one as a learning experience and sell it at the price listed. I really don't want to risk negative comments on my profile. I'm such a wimp that will really upset me 🤣

I cancelled because I realised I'd already donated the item and forgotten to unlist it. I got an automatic bad rating for it but I had enough positive ones it didn't really matter.

Jadeleigh196 · 19/05/2024 22:48

Why did you list it at £45 in the first place if you weren't sure? Do you need the extra money? I'd just let the buyer have it at the price listed. You might be doing them a favour!

BertieBotts · 19/05/2024 22:49

Is it going to upset you to the tune of £20-40 extra? Go on be brave Grin

The buyer didn't get a chance to review in my case. It was just an automatic thing from Vinted. Nobody would know what it was for. You could withdraw it and then relist it in a month or so after you've sold some other things.

Same! No bad feedback either. I apologised profusely to the buyer too.

Fillyfrog · 19/05/2024 22:49

I've cancelled at least two sales on mine and I've never had automatic bad stars. I think it depends what reason you choose.

Because I had no idea what they go for second hand and I stupidly didn't check. Then I saw others listed on there for closer to £60-90. I was about to change the price when it was sold, within 5 mins of being listed. Yes, I do need the money.

ButWhatAboutTheBees · 19/05/2024 22:50

I don't have 5* despite there never being an issue just because some people only rate 4 out of 5 regardless

So I wouldn't really worry. I've brought from sellers with a few negative reviews. Things happen sometimes. I take a couple of negative reviews as merely being human

BertieBotts · 19/05/2024 22:50

Will you be more or less upset if the buyer buys it and then relists it themselves and makes a profit? I'd consider that.

Good point! Hadn't thought of that

This.

vintedquestion · 19/05/2024 22:57

I'm really torn about what to do.

If you were the buyer in this situation and I messaged to say I think I've massively underpriced this item so I'm going to relist it, sorry - would you leave negative feedback? 🤔

Just cancel the order and block them. It’s not personal, they’ll be pissed off but if you need the money, you need the money.
