Baked 23 cookies, dh ate 8 of them

I baked some cookies after dinner, like I do most weekends so the kids had some slightly less unhealthy snacks to go in their lunch boxes and to just have in the house. At the end of the night I went to put them in a container from the cooling rack and only 14 remained. I had one, so dh took 8 of them in the two hours since I cooked them! What kind of shitty self control is that.

I feel more pissed off that I took a little bit of time to do something nice (mainly for the kids, we're adults, we don't need bloody biscuits), and he's just gone for it with no respect for anyone else. Only apologised when I called him out for it. Ugh.

Don’t really understand the pasting you’re getting on here OP except that many posters think it’s funny to have a go at the OP.

I think that your husband is a selfish greedy twat personally, you’ve put effort in to make something good for your kids and he’s taken a load of them and wolfed them down. Entitled wanker. I would lose some respect and attraction for him after this.

Agree.

I’ve also lost respect for all the people saying the solution is for to just make more cookies. Nah, he can make the cookies being as he likes eating them so much.

I think this nails it for me. It's our home. And I made the this. He just turned up and scoffed more than his fair share in one sitting. I'm sure he plans to have more over the week. It's not about the size, it's about how many as a proportion of the total, which offended me so. He knew they were for the kids lunch boxes, it's what I do most weekends, so not a novelty.

Oh and I absolutely take back the off hand comment that biscuits aren't for adults. Forgive me. They are, but I wasn't making them for us, it was to have stuff ready for lunch boxes. If he wanted a few over the next few days I don't think I'd have minded.

I'm sure he plans to have more over the week.

What a greedy pig, he has more than had enough. I’m guessing he does this often?

Please hide the cookies, this weekend and every weekend.

Littlestminnow · 19/05/2024 09:17

My DH is a greedy sod too, so I ringfenced certain foods. He's allowed his fair share, and no more. This was after many incidents where he just cleaned us out of biscuits, chocolate or crisps before anyone else got a chance to have any.

And before posters pitch in about controlling him, he's actually grateful. He knows he lacks control around some foods and that it's bad for his health, so now the added incentive of knowing it will cause a major row is enough to stop him gorging himself.

WhoGivesaSpit · 19/05/2024 09:17

sorry, 23 is a psychopathic number of cookies to make 😂

I love the suggestion of a weigh in the next day with the children watching 😁

Imagine it the other way round - man weighs wife in front of kids after she eats a few biscuits!

Please tell me no one actually said that!

JFC

You're right the other way around would be people screaming abuse!!

I can't imagine living in a world where treats are just for kids!

But these treats were for the kids, not him.

Home baked treats takes effort which he knows because he doesn’t do it himself. He can’t just expect it to be done for him.

It's a compliment in a way!

Did I read right - the cookies were a TEASPOON of mixture. So realistically he ate maybe 3 cookies?

He's a full grown adult. Make proper size biscuits, and he won't have to eat 8 of them to get the taste of one.

Is this correct @27Bumblebees? Are they tiny cookies? if so this changes the whole premise of the post if he effectively ate 3 or 4 cookies. I don’t think it’s a big deal either way whatever size they were though.

This thread has made me laugh despite a few joyless people on it and thanks for the recipe OP 😄

It’s really not a moral failing of him to eat 8 cookies tiny or jumbo. If anything it’s kids who shouldn’t be eating sugar! Your husband is old enough to know exactly how bad it can be whereas some kids aren’t.

To be clear I’m not saying kids shouldn’t have sugar, but just saying there’s a better argument for them not having it than adults.

Oh not this crap. This just perpetuates that men can be greedy pigs at the expense of women’s effort and excuse it as a compliment.

Edited

That’s even worse because they are cookies for the kids. He’s taken from his own kids.

Fair enough to have one or two, but to have a third of all the cookies is greedy af.

Your husband clearly does. Do you ration all his food or is it just biscuits that you’ve decided he’s not allowed?

Can't he make/buy his own? I wouldn't care less.

I baked my brother in law 36 of his favourite biscuits to take home and share with his family (half hour drive away). He arrived with 8 apparently.

in his defence he said they were blooming scrumptious. 😋

(But I haven’t repeated my generosity again unless my sister’s been there to guard them).

Caththegreat · 19/05/2024 09:24

Call the police or don't be surprised if he leaves you at some point. Also why are u putting unhealthy food in kids lunches?

MsCheeryble · 19/05/2024 09:26

¾ cup unsalted butter

Off the point, but how do you measure three quarters of a cup of butter?

Maybe if you weren't used to such a regular dose of pure sugar you would be able to enjoy 8 cookies more.
Some people don't really have much sugar or carbs in their meals and snacks and go all out then with a dessert.

Some people will take the bloatedness because they're enjoying the cookies so much, nothing wrong with that occasionally.....and I bet they would feel equally or more shit if they were drinking 8 sugary teas a day like you do.

I used to drink around the same myself but now I can't even imagine having sugar in my tea 😷

I really am a sugar fiend various colleagues and friends would confirm it. 😂 I’d eat a whole (small) batch of freshly baked potatoes cookies tbh or scoff a trifle - hence I avoid certain things being in my house!

but yeah I agree with you - sugar in tea is SO sickly to me 😵‍💫Give me 8 cookies any day. It really does show we’re all different.

Google says it’s equivalent to 170grams.

midgetastic · 19/05/2024 09:28

Just tell him he needs to make another batch up

Crepester · 19/05/2024 09:29

Also cookies are sooo easy to make! It’s quicker for me to make them than to get dressed and walked over to nearest Tesco to buy biscuits. So it’s the last thing I’d worry about someone eating too much of.

I do like a man who can bake though so I’d strongly encourage him to get baking too sometimes…😆

3 quarter cup measures? I'm UK but own a set of measuring cups because it's easier than converting US recipes to weight. I thought everyone had them now!

I have cups but wouldn't use them for butter. Do you have to squish it down in the cup to make sure it's totally full?
I'd google the weight conversion for butter, but would use cups for sugar or flour as it's quicker.

Fat balls! Ah I remember that one fondly.

Pickle might be tricky, as dh loves his kimchi so might enjoy the flavour...

I think suggesting he bakes with all 3 kids next might be my go to. The 18mo is such a handy and eager assistant in the kitchen.

Do the fat balls 😁

Baking with the kids 'helping' is a great idea though as it might make him realise the effort that goes into it and to be less greedy next time hopefully!

Googled the weight conversion for this one
