Not easy

OP posts:
VeraForever · 12/05/2024 20:40

No , it isn't.
My legs are so tired and my lifelong love of gardening is waning. I just do what I can get away with now.

Purplecatshopaholic · 12/05/2024 21:35

No, it isn’t. I am noticing things now (hitting my 50s) - get tired easily, etc. it sucks

m00rfarm · 12/05/2024 21:36

Yes - it is getting tired more easily. Carrying heavy stuff from the car to the house. Bending down. Not being able to stand for hours when it is very hot.

BoundaryGirl3939 · 12/05/2024 21:40

Do you have a form of spirituality you can cling to? I have gotten closer to my Catholic faith. We are just passing through this earth. Our bodies will turn to dust so don't get attached to anything material or the flesh which eventually disintegrates. Its frightening, I know. Life is scarily short.

Whisperingsummerishere · 12/05/2024 21:41

Early 50's with an up and coming 10 year old dc.. No aches and pains but silent high blood pressure and cholesterol! How did that happen??

Not sure that exactly helps tbh....🤨

Yes it's hard, I'm late 50's and in the last few months I feel like I'm disintegrating, just horrible.

MayNowJuneNext · 12/05/2024 21:46

Christ alive, you lot! You're only in your 50s!

CharlotteRumpling · 12/05/2024 21:47

I am OK physically. Mentally I am quite tired.

BoundaryGirl3939 · 12/05/2024 21:48

You can do lots to stay young. Muscles know no age. Its only when people mentally through in the towel, that their body falls apart.

Aging is shit but we ALL go through it.

This!!
50s isn't old 😳

rkahic · 12/05/2024 21:50

Your mind tells you you’re still 20, then your body reminds you that you’re not.

Agree, but suddenly stuff hurts. I thought I was invincible, turns out I'm not and that's a headf* tbh

It's not, the OP says getting older ...

huuskymam · 12/05/2024 21:53

Myself and dh had our 8 month old grand daughter today from 6.30am to 8.30pm cause mammy is sick. And as much as a great, easy child she is, we're both wrecked, 😂😂

FiveShelties · 12/05/2024 21:56

I thought you were going to be old old OP! I am 67 and still don't think I am getting old! That could be due to large amounts of red wine keeping me well preserved though.🍷

Gettingbysomehow · 12/05/2024 21:58

I felt like crap in my 50's as if my life had ended because of the menopause and associated aches and pains but in my 60's I feel great.
I've put all that behind me. I'm pretty sure all that is menopause.
I'd like a firmer neck though and I', planning on a bit of nip and tuck when work isn't so busy.

Great to hear this. Menopause is hard slog. Glad there is light at the end of the tunnel.

NonBinaryBlanket · 12/05/2024 22:03

Hey, you lot! Get yourselves to the gym. Muscles and bones get stronger with exercise.

I'm imagining OP is in her 80s, and tiptoeing away from the thread to leave the young uns to it!

It does help some people, and PP shouldn't be made to feel bad for saying it.

lljkk · 12/05/2024 22:10

Getting older is better than any alternative.

Just think how much less "easy" your life might be in 10 20 30 years, because of "getting older", and then try to enjoy now. How about that. You have now. Now is all you have. Be pleased about all the stuff that you can do and that is good now.

Nsky62 · 12/05/2024 22:12

Totally agree, nearly 62, awful menopause at 45, just over that then hormonal depression at 58, then at 60 Parkinson’s, told now had it 7 years, not too bad, very painful at times.
Had to give up work at 59, single, beloved cat, I feel old before my time, hate it!
My dad had Parkinson’s late 70s, shit, drugs yes, no real cures as yet

Churchview · 12/05/2024 22:14

@Gettingbysomehow makes a great point. During the menopause I felt like it was all downhill from there. Now I'm out the other side of it I feel like I have a new lease of life. I'm 60 this year and am enjoying life more than ever.

Getting old is fine by me. My best friend died when she was 32 so every year I've had over that feels like a gift she never had and I try to live each day to the full for her and me.

Agree - l lift weights 3 times a week, run and cycle regularly and feel fab!

Cel77 · 12/05/2024 22:20

I'm so worried about getting even more bitter. I don't want to regret anything but I already do.
I get tired even more easily. I feel as if my face is settling into a grumpy expression.
