To think big breast & regular running isn’t compatible?

Lemsipper · 12/05/2024 17:19

I have fairly big breasts E cups (with implants) and I have recently completed the Couch to 5k, which I absolutely loved and wanted to continue, except my boobs are just full of aches and pains (not when actually running but afterwards)

So im wondering whether bigish boobs and regular running just isn’t compatible? Google seems to suggest this too as i’ve read the breast tissue can become irreversibly damaged with too much strenuous bouncing.

I wear the shock absorber ultimate sports bra.

Does anyone have any sports bra recommendations I can try before giving up on running? 🥲

Is having your implants removed an option at all or no?

I wouldn’t want to remove them just for this reason as other than this I really like them.

The key is a proper sports bra. I am an f cup and have ran half marathons with no breasts issues (plenty of rest of body issues but no breast issues!)

for me the Freya ones are the best

ghostyslovesheets · 12/05/2024 17:25

Is the bra the correct size? I worked out with a company who worked with shock absorber and was always advised to go a cup size down. I was working our on a trampoline and doing that ensured they stayed firmly in place - also when running. I've not got big boobs 34D though so not tiny

Thank you!! This is encouraging to hear 🤗 thank you for the recommendation, I will certainly order a Freya bra to test out, fingers crossed 🤞🏽

I am GG, wear the shock absorber “Absorber Active Multi Extreme Impact Sports Bra” and run a couple of times a week with no issues. Are you wearing the right size?

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 12/05/2024 17:26

H cup here and I agree with sizing down. I can't remember where mine are from right now but will have a look later

Saschka · 12/05/2024 17:27

I’m a 32G, you just need a decent running bra. Try Bravissimo.

That makes sense, I will try a smaller size in the shock absorber bras so they are more compressed 😁!! Thank you for your help 🤗

I would go to a shop and get properly fitted for whichever brand

ditalini · 12/05/2024 17:29

I'm an F cup and didn't have an issue at all, but I'm a 34 back which means my cup volume isn't as much as someone with a wider back if that's relevant - don't know if that would make a difference, or whether implants are less secured to your chest wall than tissue.

My sports bra isn't anything fancy (I think M&S at the moment) and I felt very little movement.

AngelsWithSilverWings · 12/05/2024 17:30

I was 34gg before my reduction and had no problem running. You just need the best and most supportive bra you can find. I'm now 34D and only recently gave up running - I'm 54 and was finding it harder suddenly so switched to power walking.

Rolson77 · 12/05/2024 17:30

I'm a 32 GG and have a brilliant sports bra which helps. I'm not sure what difference having implants might make! Mine are natural and move, a lot, if I don't have a bra on.

TBOM · 12/05/2024 17:30

Size down, as other posters said. I’ve got the same size breasts and like the Nike High Support Bras, they squash everything down with no bouncing.

Im not confident I am wearing the right size. Ill try to pluck up the courage for a professional fitting 😁 thank you for your recommendation, I will try this one out 🤞🏽

No one ever mentions it on here but I wear two bras. An underwired bra from Freya and then the shock absorber on top. It keeps them very still! I also like that the underwired bra separates them as otherwise they get a bit sweaty pushed together. I’m an EE.

GinBooksChocs · 12/05/2024 17:33

Also maybe consider a boob band which will help keep them in place if you need extra help.

Madagascary · 12/05/2024 17:33

Come and join the breast reduction threads and ask me anything, honestly honestly it’s life changing

MrsTerryPratchett · 12/05/2024 17:37

You need a sports bra so tight that it is a workout just to get it on. Achieve a Great Wall of Boob so they can't move.

I run and it's great.

jennylamb1 · 12/05/2024 17:38

A colleague at running club spoke about wearing two bras together and I've found that really comfortable. Obviously two sports bras. It seems to work well because they rub less and really keep you strapped down. Also, losing weight is good, I was 12.10 when I started running club and I'm 12 stone now, and it's a lot more comfortable running. I don't think running when overweight is good for your body really.

Yes, sizing down is good, Marks and Spencers do good bras.
