I am being unreasonable, and not sure whether its jealousy or irritation that she has done so well with little discernible talent. However, she irritates me intensely for being presumably financially very successful for not wearing any clothes. MET Gala case in point. She is just such a narcissist. I know there are others out there, but she doesnt even have a crap reality show with her sisters

Get a grip.. loads of celebrities are the same.
Live and let live .

wherethewildthingis · 07/05/2024 12:47

What she was wearing wasn't a dress though it was a piece of art. I don't think that what people wear to the Met ball is meant to be judged in the same way as conventional clothing. I actually loved it and the idea behind it was incredible.

VestibuleVirgin · 07/05/2024 12:48

They all looked pretty bloody ridiculous. Some were so emperors new clothes they couldn't even climb the steps, requiring man-handling to get from a to b.
So much media time devoted to a bunch of inconsequentials, presumably all wars are over and people are no longer being slaughtered in Gaza

I8toys · 07/05/2024 12:50

She's meh. She's only relevant cos she's married to that director fella.

GogAndMagog · 07/05/2024 12:50

I bloody love the song she did with Liam Payne.

That aside, she's living her best life and riding the fame wave. She gives it her all and I like that.

The clothes are bloody awful though but you don't go to that event to cower in a corner.😆

WhatWouldJeevesDo · 07/05/2024 12:51

Just coming to find out what that acronym means.

LauderSyme · 07/05/2024 12:52

What has Rita Ora ever done to you?

She may very well be pointless but surely that is the nature of celebrity.

That's the point of the Met Gala, it is art rather than fashion. You can enjoy this, smile and have a good time and still care about the world and all the atrocities, It's not an either or.

NigelHarmansNewWife · 07/05/2024 12:55

I don't really like her public persona, but I think it was Louis Theroux who interviewed her and her family and she was surprisingly down to earth and, dare I say it, likeable. It's the nature of the pop music industry for Rita and her ilk that they are always "on" publicly, have to keep their SM current and maintain a public persona.

peeweemermaid · 07/05/2024 12:10

Have you seen the photos from the Met gala There is limited cloth or stitching so I would argue definitely not a dress

She’s wearing a nude body suit under it.

Really? Is This Adorable Outfit Rudely Adorning?

mintich · 07/05/2024 12:57

Rumoured to be one of the top yachting girls explains why she gets the gigs and invites that she does.

CormorantStrikesBack · 07/05/2024 12:57

I don't think you can blame Rita Ora for modern day society. Sadly this seems to be what it takes to be a celeb these days. Even the female celebs with more talent like Taylor Swift are on stage in leotards for a significant proportion of their set. You don't generally see men wearing such skimpy outfits. I sound like my Gran. 😂

I think it's sad that women seem to think in order to make newspaper columns, to keep current, etc this is what they have to do. But they're put in that situation by the industry.....and I guess ultimately by the public. So what does it say about us?

And it filters down to non celebs. The amount of normal people I know who in their 20s are having botox and fillers and their lips injected is bonkers. These are students I know having this done so not exactly rolling in money. But this is the sort of stuff they prioritise. Yes, not all of them by any means but it seems a lot of pressure.

LlynTegid · 07/05/2024 12:58

The party during Covid restrictions is the worst thing about her by far. Even though it was just one as opposed to the many held when the traitor and condoner of sexual assault Boris Johnson was in number 10.

shenandoahvalley · 07/05/2024 12:59

I think this is a you issue. Of all the people to get bothered about, Rita Ora is one of the less offensive. At least she has a discernible talent.

As for what she wore to the Met Gala: that’s about costumes, designs, art. It’s not fashion and naice pretty dresses. You’ve got it wrong. Not her.

Soigneur · 07/05/2024 12:11

Yes, how dare an Albanian refugee find success in her adoptive home, have a number one single and album and over a dozen top ten hits, become an honorary ambassador for her maternal country, and go on to be adored by millions. She should be sent to Rwanda!

@Soigneur You're weaponising what the OP said and twisting it. I like Rita Ora and I've bought two items from her range in Primark😮- you might not agree with the OP but I doubt it has anything to do with her origins.

WetBandits · 07/05/2024 13:01

Women trashing other women - an example of all that is wrong in the world.

Fixed it for you 😘

IhateSPSS · 07/05/2024 13:02

I wondered where the wedding dress trend for cut out mesh that shows loads of flesh/bits of the trunk was from. Now I know.

I couldn't buy anything from a bridal boutique as I don't like showing cleavage/my body so had to get something made. But now know where the inspo is from!

QueenBodicea · 07/05/2024 13:03

Id never heard of the Met Gala but saw it was trending and thought it must be something to do with the Metropolitan Police😀

neilyoungismyhero · 07/05/2024 13:04

Soigneur · 07/05/2024 12:15

Yep, another Albanian who doesn't know her place...

Honestly, the hatred that successful refugees and immigrants get on Mumsnet is off the scale.

Their ethnicity has never even registered with me. I think you're completely out of order turning this into a racial issue. Shame on you.

BoohooWoohoo · 07/05/2024 13:04

Surely the point of the Met gala red carpet is surely self promotion and getting as much publicity as possible to ensure an invite next year?

While I am no fan, I think that she is far from the worst offender and she will be enjoying being talked about and included in the photos of the night forever.

Peonies12 · 07/05/2024 13:05

You might want to look at the news to see what’s actually wrong in the world

Knackeredhamster · 07/05/2024 13:05

Who's the bloke with her?
Richard Hammond?

Mischance · 07/05/2024 13:06

Never heard of her ......

TheYearOfSmallThings · 07/05/2024 13:08

There are surely millions and millions of people this world worse than Rita Ora!
