The past election/PM changes have been horrendous. The visceral disappointment was awful each time.

I can’t wait to actually celebrate this year. I know, I know, Labour are going to set fire to the economy and tax everyone £3mil each and it’ll cost you 4 trillion a month to send you kid to private school, and all women will perish immediately because only Tories know what a woman is Hmm

But finally! It’s been a long fucking time coming.

Starmer's parents didn't send him to private school.

twistyizzy knows this as it has been explained to them on numerous occasions

A pub near us has 2 donkeys in the field next to their garden. One is very loud

My local has a regular who is very loud and may as well be a donkey for all the sense he talks. I wonder if they post on here?

I used to work for someone who set up a donkey sanctuary.

TBF, it was definitely a state school donkey. Otherwise, obviously, it would have been a race horse.

The grammar school he was already at in the 1970s converted to a fee-paying independent while he was already a student there.

This is a very important point. If one owns a race horse, one can't just send it to any old state school donkey sanctury, it would not cope with that. Because the race horse is so special and highly strung one must send it to a private sanctuary just for similar beasts.

He didn't have to stay for 6th form though. His classmate Norman Cook left after GCSEs. Starmer stayed on with a bursary.

Indeed. And one must also ensure that the donkeys are only allowed access to the paddock. No sight of nicely heated straw-filled stables for them.

In which case the donkeys may die because they can't deal with being cold/wet due to being originally from hot climates. For horses it would be much more beneficial for them to live our 24/7.

So you don't know much about horses Vs donkeys either.

If of course one owns horses, then it is perfectly reasonable to expect that the taxpayer would pay for them to be heated, whilst not paying taxes that one owes.

Because donkeys come from a lower socio-economic class, it is perfectly fine for them to be left to suffer.

So was Starmer originally a donkey who became a horse through education?

BIWI · 05/05/2024 21:34

That's the most that they should expect. Coming over here, expecting us to cater for their hot-blooded needs.

Some horses become donkeys through the inability to think critically for themselves, if they work really hard at it, they reach the status of asses.

This is the trouble with foreigners. Coming here taking our jobs and living off benefits. Could we legislate to say that the countries they come from are safe, even if they sometimes eat donkeys?

EasternStandard · 05/05/2024 11:39

Wouldn’t that just put pressure to get in catchment earlier, pre 4?

Unless your school is not oversubscribed to the same extent

We do actually have feeder schools for some state and continuity all the way through and it just moves the pressure to earlier on. Parents really put in the effort to secure higher price housing as they know it’s once off.

Overall though, outside the politicians, the happiest people will be estate agents thinking of higher commission. Just thinking of the SE which is highly competitive, but other areas maybe the same

No because the first schools, despite all being outstanding, aren't oversubscribed. There are plenty of out of catchment kids. It's not an issue.

We have some huge catchments too. One of the high schools is 40 miles across.

Do you mean Quentin ‘Noman’ Cook? The same one who has stated in interviews that he detested being middle class and wanted to be working class, saying his big hope was ‘to go on the dole’…you know, to role play at being working class and take risks because he’s alway got the safety net of middle class parents to fall back on. Unlike Starmer. I’d expect being surrounded by that system made him even more determined to work hard and get himself to a position where he could actually make a difference.

The only people who throw insults around on here are vehement Labour supporters. The rest of us can debate in a civilised manner.
