The way disabled people are being treated and spoken about on here in recent days is disgusting. It is verging on online hate crimes and if ithey were about other marginalised groups would not have been allowed to stand by MNHQ.

The disinformation, the sneering, the complete lack of compassion from so many Mumsnetters is vile.

Disability for the very most part isn't something that people bring onto themselves. Parents don't do anything but have different luck to you and have a disabled child.

My genetics are different to yours so I have a fucked up immune system and the host of problems that has given me.

My DH had a horrific upbringing which has led him to have MH problems- he works by the way. I did too for a long time until my body couldn't cope.

My DC was injured at birth due to a hospital fault.

My neighbour fell off his bike and has a traumatic brain injury.

My friend has breast cancer.

My cousin is dead at 38 due to epilepsy.

My nephew is so unhappy due to his ADHD bot letting him fit in at school and my sister is having trouble helping him through it due to hers.

Why are we so unworthy to you?

Are we not due the same courtesy of online treatment as those of different races and religion...or does that go out the window as you pay for us?

@MNHQ why is it acceptable for you to allow your users to bully the marginalised on this site?

You clearly don’t have every sympathy though, because if you did you’d realise that people with complex mental health issues and addictions can’t work, yet you think it’s fine to slag those off and revel in it by the sounds of your goady posts.

Of course not! I'm so sorry this happened to her, she sounds so strong and total respect to her. I'm talking about people who claim to be in her position but aren't. That's what makes me upset, genuine people who deserve everything and those who fabricate it. Only from personal experience, one particular young man who got all the benefits but had a business as a builder and raked in a fortune. That's what upsets me, it does a disservice to the lovely lady you mentioned. I'm all for helping others, I would give my last penny to anyone in need. I'm sorry if my post was taken any other way. I would LOVE to be healthy enough to work. The paltry amount I get in UC and low rate mobility PIP doesn’t even begin to cover what me and my DC need to survive, I’m getting further and further in debt each month. I’d give up my ‘free money’ in a nanosecond in exchange for health.

I actually mentioned the people in my community, some of whom I know very well who do not have addictions and mental health issues. When did I revel in it? What was goady? Because I don't agree with you? Do you just want an echo chamber?

If you don't agree with certain people they will just slag you off so I really wouldn't bother apologising to them.

But personally with the exception of a few antisemitic posts I've never seen racism be allowed to stand ( I'm from a mixed race family) but I've seen some horrific ableist bullying and indeed actual threads stay up in contrast.

Oh and it doesn't make me feel better. Why would it make me feel better? Obviously if we're doing this, you having a go at me is making you feel better.

If you post inflammatory, uninformed and ignorant crap on here then you should expect it. I would bet my life you don’t know these people at all and if you do you won’t know the ins and outs of their lives and pasts etc. I never understand why people cant just concentrate on their own lives and leave others alone, but it’s a human trait to punch down when you’re miserable in life, unfortunately.

I wish that was the case, I have seen plenty of racist posts left to stand. It is a problem here. This is not the thread to discuss it though. But as a disabled, black woman, I know what I see on this forum.

I grew up on a housing estate. Very sadly my brother grew up on the same estate, took drugs, developed mental health issues and was dead by 30. I went to a good uni and got a law degree. He wasn’t traumatised or particularly deprived and neither was I. He was bored and easily led and made poor choices.

You can not divorce people from responsibility for their actions because they have had a tough time of it.
