Potential threat of snipers

Does anyone else always close curtains/blinds before turning on lights in a dark room just in case there's a sniper lurking outside? I'm not a woman who's likely to have a hit on me, but I feel like it's a sensible thing to do nonetheless.

You've obviously never been confronted by a dalek in real life have you?

Daleks are only a problem if you live in a bungalow. They can't do stairs.

MushMonster · 12/05/2024 14:16

I have never worried about snipers, but we do jot leave far away from doctor who paraphernalia where he appeared from not so long ago. Just scared a dalek will come out of there one day 😖

I sleep naked, unless my husband is away when I wear pyjamas. Pyjamas will save me from being violated by bad men who will break in because my husband is away.

No wife of mine would be left alone overnight without a proper chastity belt.

When walking my dog I’m always amazed at the amount of people with curtains wide open , big light on and everything on show. Your eyes are drawn in. I always close my blinds before putting lights on.

Agree.

Also, if you are going to raid the fridge in the middle of the night, please either close the kitchen blinds or put a dressing gown on. I've seen too many naked people illuminated by the light from inside an open fridge when walking my dog through housing estates.

I know it is polite to look away, but it takes a few stunned seconds when you suddenly see a big pink moon shining at you through a kitchen window.

And some sights you just can't unsee can you stealth Envy not envy

Will sleep more soundly tonight remembering this.😀

So true!Hedges are lethal. My hubs came home from work early one day to find a man in the hedge watching me while I gardened. Man told husband he was just resting before legging it down the road.

True story and I often wonder what would have happened if my husband hadn’t come home early.

That was when we got our first German Shepard. No more strange men in hedges.

Sorry to hear this story. Sounds a good solution.

Does the shepherd have to be German? Bit worried about post-Brexit visa restrictions.

Spare a thought for those of us living in bungalows....we're doomed.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the last few generations of dalek can get up stairs, they kind of float.

No, because I’m not mad.

Daleks evolved? Bloody hell. NOW I'm scared.

whydoesitalwayshappentome · 12/05/2024 16:47

@AllCatsAreAutistic I was horrified when I saw them do that.

Depends if I'm naked. There's some things even a sniper can never un-see 🤣

😂😂😂

I'm getting a stair gate. An electrified one.

dudsville · 12/05/2024 16:50

If you come home after dark so your curtains are still open, do you drop to the ground and do that army crawl to the window?

Yellowcrocuspatch · 12/05/2024 16:55

If John Wick is going to burst in and take you out then a pair of curtains won’t stop him.

JustWantsSomeSleep · 12/05/2024 17:10

Seriously... a sniper? As in someone with a long range sniper rifle trying to shoot you; or is there some other meaning? If in general you don't want people seeing in through your window then obviously, close the curtains / blinds at night when the lights are on.

MrsLeonFarrell · 12/05/2024 17:11

I'm concerned reading this thread that, good as your sniper prevention procedures are, you may be dangling a leg out of bed at night. Everyone knows that's when Jaws comes and bites it off.

DustyLee123 · 12/05/2024 17:21

I still check down the toilet for Jaws, before I sit down 🥴

DustyLee123 · 12/05/2024 17:22

Careful of letting your toes dangle out the end of the bed, from under the duvet, snakes like to bite them.

IncompleteSenten · 12/05/2024 17:24

No.
I worry about rats coming up through the waste pipe while I'm using the loo though.

ClareBlue · 12/05/2024 17:31

Has a sniper ever taken anyone out on your street who pulls curtains first. Thought not. It really works. Don't believe all this night vision stuff. I literally know nobody or anybody that knows anybody who has been taken out who pulls their curtains first. It works and the proof is there to see, unlike you because your curtains are closed.

Jaws, snakes, pah. We all know it’s the spiders who rub their willies over you at night. And let’s not even get into washing that’s left out overnight and gets darked on.

Dobest · 12/05/2024 18:27

Any "sniper" who rubs his willy on your washing is just one of the perverts in your hedge.
