Potential threat of snipers

Does anyone else always close curtains/blinds before turning on lights in a dark room just in case there's a sniper lurking outside? I'm not a woman who's likely to have a hit on me, but I feel like it's a sensible thing to do nonetheless.

So you’d rather your DD got shot by a sniper than you? That’s the real shocker here! Never met a parent who wouldn’t rather die than watch their child die before.

No no @MolkosTeenageAngst you misunderstand- snipers don't shoot on sight the 1st person they see, they have a mark which I assume is me so DD is safe. But also I was waiting by the light switch in the doorway to flick it on as soon as she'd shut the curtains. From the responses on here I think I must have fortuitously purchased sniper proof curtains because once they're closed and the lights go on I've never been hit yet 😅

Sorry for your loss but hahaha, that did make me laugh! 🤣 where did your mum find such excellent anti-sniper curtains?

I have some anti-werewolf ones which seem to be working equally as well.

Mum used to buy all her curtains and nets at a shop called Brentford Nylons.
Nylon = 1980s Kevlar.

Thanks to you and @bloodyplumbing for your kind wishes. Mum died a while ago but she had a fabulous sense of humour and would have loved this thread.

I never keep my head still. That one weird trick that snipers HATE.

Amateur. I zig zag across the room.

crochetcatsknitting · 03/05/2024 09:01

I keep my floors clean in case I come home after dark and forgot to draw the curtains before leaving. That way I can commando crawl to the windows without getting my clothes dirty.

(I obviously zig zagged and ducked between the car and the house to avoid a garden ambush).

Ex sniper here 🙋‍♀️

We use night vision riflescopes so we can shoot you whether you turn your light on or not.

Thank you. I thought my shutters were a bit naff, but I'm feeling better about them now.

When walking my dog I’m always amazed at the amount of people with curtains wide open , big light on and everything on show. Your eyes are drawn in. I always close my blinds before putting lights on.

See I love taking my dogs for a walk at night, peering in everyone's windows(I can't carry my sniper rifle with the two dogs leads though so don't worry)

This is why MNers never answer the door, in case there's a man there in a scream mask about to stab them while live streaming to the police Shock

Or about to stick his tongue out and try to lick her. That episode still haunts me.

There’s always one.

No that's never crossed my mind but I am always careful not to step on the cracks on the pavement in case of snipers hiding down there

graceinspace999 · 03/05/2024 11:51

StrongasSixpence · 02/05/2024 22:14

I don't draw my downstairs curtains ever as I am surrounded by hedges which deter the murderers. I do try and remember to do the bedroom blind however as it looks over an alleyway and DP always reminds me not to show the neighborhood hoodlums who vape in the alley before school my morning nakeds. Putting my dressing gown on sorts the problem.

If you employed a sniper to sort out the hoodlums you could do as many morning nakeds as you like and save wear and tear on your dressing gown.🥷

Snipers aren't in the cracks that's unwelcome spirits, unless of course the snipers have sniped them.

Don't be silly.

It's Richard Ramirez risen from the dead that I'm afraid of.

I watch too much true crime docs.

I watched a documentary about Richard Ramirez a couple of years ago. I woke up that night laying on my front with something pressing me down into the bed. My elderly cat who could apparently no longer get on the bed was standing on my back, something he'd never done in all the years we had him! He scared me half to death!

Giggorata · 03/05/2024 13:57

Re the cracks. - isn't that where the bears come out or do they just appear, like those bloody zoombies? (JC on a bike, btw)

ChristmasFluff · 03/05/2024 15:22

I never pull my downstairs curtains, otherwise the cats climb up them and chase eachother and pull down the curtain poles.

The upstairs ones I close but leave a crack to get some light. Except on a full moon, when they must be fully closed and not opened until daybreak, for fear of werewolves in cahoots with Diana Dors.

Actually you are correct it's bears,🐻

DustyLee123 · 03/05/2024 17:02

Everyone knows that if you step on a crack, you break your back.

123dogdog · 03/05/2024 19:51

I only did the curtain thing because of snipers, before I went on anti psychotics 😂 😂

however, I don’t do second hand mirrors, just in case someone or something is trapped in the mirror.

"Sensible" is doing some heavy lifting there.

My Dad does. I'm surprised anyone else is as a loony as him! 🤣

He is generally of the "everyone is out to get you/con you/cheat you" sentiment which is getting worse as he gets older, but he's been doing it since his 40s.

He'll sit in the dark before he'll put the lights on, and then only when he's closed the curtains. It can't be switch light on THEN close curtains, it's got to be curtains closed first, which means my Mum shuffling round furniture in the dark on her way between the window and the lightswitch. 🙄

SocksAndTheCity · 03/05/2024 20:39

Cracks is definitely where the bears are 🐻

I assume everyone already knows to smash the shells of their boiled eggs so that the witches can't use them as boats and come and get you?

This thread is the perfect antidote to the shite weather and endless winter we've been eduring (in the UK at least!).

It’s been lovely and sunny here the last two days and very warm (a lovely 12-14 degrees), I’ve had the windows open. The west coast has had the 20s!
