Unable to deal with basic disappointments without going no contact, unable to work through difficulties without diagnosing narcissism, is permanently gaslit by everyone apparently. Secretly is a gaslighting narcissist themselves. (Apologies to those genuinely truly awful situations - this post is of course tongue in cheek and not about you!).

marshmallowfinder · 03/05/2024 03:24

I am sat... Oh please, no. I am sitting...

Extremely anti porn, perpetually terrified about possible infidelity, doesn’t like her MIL.

You mean not like these other websites where the 'average' person is pro-porn, pro-infidelity and rave about their MIL?

Lots of people don’t have a problem with porn; lots of people quite like or don’t mind their MIL; and I’ve never encountered the obsession with (and fear of) infidelity to the extent it’s found on MN.

So, yes. Not like other websites.

Josette77 · 03/05/2024 06:07

Why do you ask? ( Head tilt & tinkly laugh )

ineedtostopbeingdramaticfirst · 03/05/2024 06:10

Earns 6 figures
Works full time
Does everything at home as dh is useless
Goes to the gym 5x a week
Hates her mil
Creates meals from scratch
Has a group of friends

FedUpToTheBackTooth · 03/05/2024 06:16

I don’t think the average mumsnetter is even a mum anymore.

Could be doing something else with their time but excels at procrastination.

That's probably the only common factor! Grin

SoftPuppyBlanket · 03/05/2024 06:28

Extremely none confrontational, would rather start a thread on here and navel gaze for hours than nip next door and ask them to move their bin/return a jumper/talk to their kids teacher etc.
Has lots of money to spend on clothes but mostly dresses like they aspire to be on Little House on the Prairie, they like to run things past the masses on style and beauty to check the very plain item of clothing they have just bought isn't too inappropriate to drop the kids off at nursery. Likes to blend in expensively especially now they are in their mid 40's.
Doesn't do much laundry, will wear the new item of clothing at least five times before washing it and is an expert at 'spot washing'. Seems to also believe this removes smells from their clothes as well.
Only showers every 2-3 days but absolutely does not smell, uses luxury shower gels and oils when they do shower.
Rarely eats meat and likes to bulk meals out with lentils and pulses, can feed her family of four for £50pw despite her husband earning six figures, they are still struggling because the mortgage and childcare comes to 8k a month. They absolutely can't move house as the kids need a bedroom and a playroom each as anything less is neglect.
They have only had one night out with their husband in ten years because their family lives 300 miles away and they haven't made any friends yet despite having moved to the area five years ago, it doesn't bother them though as they plan to co sleep with the kids until the youngest turns 21.

Their solution to most things is to LTB, go NC, complain to governors, go to HR, log it with SS, GP or the police. Presumably this is why they can’t answer their front door.

Calliopespa · 03/05/2024 07:09

Inclined to tell OP to LTB, wear the OTT outfit ( “you’ll look fab!”), complain to governors/ police/ HR etc, REFUSE to take it lying down, reject the family invitation, confront the MIL etc etc all in the hope of an even juicier fallout update.

Ever noticed how after the event the conservative “ what would it really achieve?”/ “I think the dress is a bit too see-thru in the crotch area”/ “ in fairness your DH couldn’t have made it back for the birth if he was in NZ that morning so maybe LTB is extreme” responses start to trickle in … ?

@Helplessandheartbroke we are discussing the average poster though, frequently there is mention of a child with SEN. There is no mocking of the children in this thread, posters are just highlighting that in their mind's eye the average Mumsnetter has a SEN child due to the frequency this is mentioned across the forum.

Calliopespa · 02/05/2024 21:12

I actually think quite a lot of the regulars are in their 60’s.

Would that be a problem? I think it's nice we don't know people's ages.

AmusedMaker · 03/05/2024 07:34

There probably is an ‘average’ but I don’t think it’s anywhere near what it used to be years ago.
( middle class white woman in her 30’s, with a couple of kids ) and very ‘London’

lots more men and child free by choice women on here now, and of course the women who have been on MN from the start are in their late 50’s / early 60’s now. So the mix is much better imo.

But a mum of a sen child may be on MN for that exact reason and to get help and advice off fellow mums of sen children. She shouldn't be mocked for that. It's discrimination and its below the belt.

HesterRoon · 03/05/2024 08:46

Berate other posters for not being kind and sensitive while calling them cunts.

No such thing as average, as I am perpetually reminded by the extraordinary variety of opinions on here.

I agree! And I am not as OP describes

And breastfeed 🤣

Buys £65 jumpers from John Lewis when sleep-deprived.

I doubt that @Chirawehaha Is pro infidelity, but i agree with her that the MN obsession with infidelity, that seems to inspire a fear and loathing of female coworkers and younger women in general, is rather strange.

Love It!! 😂😂

And we’ve forgotten the complex allergies and intolerances that everyone on here seems to have. And the fact they seem to get thrush from walking into Superdrug.
