I've had it...the cat looks at me and poos whilst I'm opening the door to get out... It's hell. I have a dd and ok it's a small garden but we like to use it. Neighbour who owns the cat is vvv strange.. what's app me to say a leaf from our cherry tree has landed in her garden and her cat might eat it...we've tried electric noisy things, a plastic snake, old cd that shines and some black cat shadow things... nothing...it seems to wait till I'm.in the kitchen and poo in front of me.... suspect neighbour taught it.. what would work that not hurt it. It's very beautiful, just the poo. Isn't. We going to sell and move shortly due to this cat, it honestly is making life hell. My next door neighbour who's elderly have similar issues with the cat...who much poo can this cat do

Have you tried throwing water at it - a water pistol or similar?

AnnaMagnani · 23/04/2024 19:25

If it's a small courtyard garden, can you cat proof it?

MikeRafone · 23/04/2024 19:25

sprinkle jays fluid powder around the areas that the cat poos - they don't like the smell and its harmless to animals

tothelefttotheleft · 23/04/2024 19:27

Throw the poi into her garden?

OneFrenchEgg · 23/04/2024 19:27

Water pistol, cats don't like water and it won't be hurt just don't direct a powerful stream at its eyes or something.

NeverEnoughPants · 23/04/2024 19:27

You are planning to move house - because of a cat??

I'm struggling to believe that tbh.

Mabelface · 23/04/2024 19:27

Water pistol, then it's only their pride that's hurt. 😉

Noyesnoyes · 23/04/2024 19:28

Water in a hose lots of very fast and hard!

DisforDarkChocolate · 23/04/2024 19:28

Water pistol every time it's in range.

ChocHotolate · 23/04/2024 19:29

Just wondering how your neighbour would have trained the cat to wait to look you in the eyes before pooing?

BaronessEllarawrosaurus · 23/04/2024 19:29

Water spray, plant mister kind of thing if you don't have a water gun

Momstermunch · 23/04/2024 19:29

I love the fact you think the cat has been trained to poo in your garden 😂

Exactly. You really think she taught it?

Wbeezer · 23/04/2024 19:37

Second the plant mister, my cat runs away when I pick mine up to wet my hair and he was only mildly squirted accidentally while lying on the bed.

Hmmmbetterchangethis · 23/04/2024 19:38

I had some cats come in my garden a couple of months ago.
3 of them sauntering around.
Having a dog didn’t deter them.
I burst into the garden with two milk bottles full of water and doused them. They scarpered and haven’t been back since. I felt very slightly guilty, but it’s preferable to cat shit in the garden.

GalileoHumpkins · 23/04/2024 19:38

who much poo can this cat do

Not one of Dr Seuss's best works...

Wbeezer · 23/04/2024 19:41

I laid a length of gabion mesh on top of an area of bark mulch that my cat decided to use as a change from her litter tray, it has large enough holes to plant through but stops cat digging holes

I'm struggling to believe that tbh.

Also wondering where she can move to that is gauranteed to be cat free.

Wbeezer · 23/04/2024 19:44

Cats are territorial so they are used to getting chased away by other cats so it's not cruel to scare them away, it's normal for them. No attempting to hit them with sticks as one horrible neighbour encouraged his grandson to do to my cat who was sitting on our boundary wall though!

DdraigGoch · 23/04/2024 19:48

I doubt it, it's normal behaviour for a cat. To be honest the most effective solution is to get one's own cat. Alternatively a motion-activated sprinkler.

Kosenrufugirl · 23/04/2024 19:50

If water pistols don't work and you are still living in the house I would try planting catnip in the corner of your garden. Cats love catnip and would sit next to it for hours. Hopefully the cat would forget he was going to do dirty

As anyone who's ever had a cat can tell - you can't teach a cat to do anything. If you so much as suggest they might possibly like to think about the potential of pooing you'll get a raised feline eyebrow and sauntering off down the road.

I'd love to see the training this neighbour is supposed to have put in.

SouthCoastDad · 23/04/2024 19:52

Sorry to laugh, but your post is really funny.... have an image in my mind of that cat staring you down whilst doing its business!!

Anyway, we used to have an issue with a neighbourhood cat.....until we got a German Shepherd. Problem solved!

Seriously though squirt the cat and it will soon get the message.

HeyManIJustWantSomeMuesli · 23/04/2024 19:55

Agree with everyone else about a water pistol. I own cats and would have no issue if a neighbour squirted one them if they were being a nuisance.

Createausername1970 · 23/04/2024 19:57

Yes, get an empty washing-up bottle (clean, of course), fill it with diluted orange squash. Have it to hand by the door, and squirt the cat every time it appears. They don't like the smell of orange/citrus apparently.

I like cats, but I don't like random cat poo in my garden.
