I've had it...the cat looks at me and poos whilst I'm opening the door to get out... It's hell. I have a dd and ok it's a small garden but we like to use it. Neighbour who owns the cat is vvv strange.. what's app me to say a leaf from our cherry tree has landed in her garden and her cat might eat it...we've tried electric noisy things, a plastic snake, old cd that shines and some black cat shadow things... nothing...it seems to wait till I'm.in the kitchen and poo in front of me.... suspect neighbour taught it.. what would work that not hurt it. It's very beautiful, just the poo. Isn't. We going to sell and move shortly due to this cat, it honestly is making life hell. My next door neighbour who's elderly have similar issues with the cat...who much poo can this cat do

I literally just bought the most disgusting humane organic oil concoction off Amazon, it’s a fox repellant but also for other animals. I got it because my house rabbit likes to wee on the sofa in the place that I sit (it is how they show love!) and I just sprayed it on my sofa and she didn’t go onto it and do any poops or wees! Sadly when I put the cushions on, I don’t think she could still smell it so I sprayed it again and I’ll check soon. But that might work? It’s citronella chilli and garlic and it’s awful! I’m coping because I have had lots of lovely aromatherapy candles on, sprayed with some neals yard soray and kept back door and windows open. Worth a go? We have a cat that keeps coming in and eating my cats food! When I catch it, I spray it with water and that helps it scarper when it sees me. You can get cat noise deterrents too. Cat activated sprinklers: I’m not sure if cat shite is good for your plants tbh

Message back "Your cat has shat in our garden. Kindly come and pick it up. We don't like it".

Not one of Dr Seuss's best works...

This made me LOL!

Upallnight2 · 23/04/2024 22:34

Put cucumbers all over your yard 🤣 apparently they don't like them lol. Ot sit in the window like a sniper and get the bugger with the water gun

Octavia64 · 23/04/2024 22:37

If anyone has worked out how to train a cat to poo in a specific place I'd like to know the secret please.

I have three and they poo in the most inconvenient places.

we tried everything repellants, water, garlic, citrus etc in the end the only thing that worked was cleaning the paving area where next doors cat pooed with jeyes fluid. Never saw the cat again not had one poo in the garden since

You probably killed it! How cruel!

sprinkle jays fluid powder around the areas that the cat poos - they don't like the smell and its harmless to animals

This is NOT true; Jeye Fluid is poisonous for cats. Do NOT do this ever, as annoying as a cat pooing in your garden is, it's not on to make them sick.

Realist2022 · 23/04/2024 22:48

2 things I did. Firstly I had to dig up all the gravel where it was happening - honestly one of the worst jobs ever. I then bought a ton of oranges and peeled them and left the peel where they used to go. It seemed to stop it. Or I got used to it. Not sure which ....🤔

HcbSS · 23/04/2024 23:07

Teabags with orange/lemon/lavender oil. Cats hate the smell! Put orange peel in the flower beds. We had a cat for years, as did our neighbour, and both cats shat in the other's garden. Fortunately we got on well as neighbours ad came up with this plot to outsmart our feline family members, and save our gardens haha

I think cats are quite intelligent and will avoid areas soaked with Jeyes fluid so it won’t kill them. People are advised to use Jeyes fluid as a disinfectant for bird feeders, animal housing, etc. We have a super soaker ready loaded in the back garden. Every time I put in new plants or dig the soil I put in bamboo kebab skewers in the soil, point side up, every 4 cms. This does seem to stop cats from using my borders as a toilet.

Jeyes fluid contains an active ingredient called dimethylbenzyl ammonium chloride, which is in fact harmful to cats.

And I would certainly not recommend using it to clean pet enclosures (despite what the manufacturer claims).

There are lots of things in gardens that are harmful to cats and strangely they seem to avoid them. I have had lilies in my garden for over 20 years as they were already planted when we moved here.

mysteriousspiderbite · 24/04/2024 00:54

I hiss angrily at them like a witch. They don't come back.

SouthPotty · 24/04/2024 07:45

On the coffee theme, I sprinkle used coffee grounds around the garden and for some time haven't had any issues with cat poo. I thought it was down to the garden maturing and me filling every square inch with plants but it may well be coffee.

As to people calling not to use keys fluid as it's toxic to cats... I'd say tough shit. So are hundreds of plants commonly grown in the garden and other stuff. A few droplets on the patio won't kill a cat unless it's stupid enough to lick it off it and thousands of people clean their garden furniture and driveways without all neighbouring cats dropping dead.

WhySoManySocks · 24/04/2024 07:55

Spices around the garden - cheap curry powder, or chilli flakes around the place it poops. Whenever you see the cat shout it away or spray it. I’ve been known to bark at ours…

It’s toxic to all life. Not just cats.

Apparently citrus peel with eucalyptus oil works. They don’t like the smell and it doesn’t harm them.

thepastinsidethepresent · 24/04/2024 14:06

I can vouch for the water pistol suggestion. We're a cat household but sometimes have to 'discourage' feline interlopers from the garden, a carefully-aimed squirt always seems to do the trick.

Bad Boy Deal With It GIF by TikTok

Cats normally like privacy for pooing and see sustained eye contact as a threat so it's very strange to be waiting to catch your eye and stare you down while pooing in plain sight 😂

OP I think maybe you're paranoid, exaggerating, have a gangster cat as a neighbour or dealing with a shape shifter.

sunnydayhereandnow · 24/04/2024 14:22

Cats were digging up my veg patch to poo. I got a lot of short sticks and stuck them into the soil around the seedlings. It worked. Throwing water (I just sling a cup of water in their direction) is also pretty effective at discouraging them.

It’s nothing to do with cat haters , I love cats , my adult son has Siamese but they stay on our own property .

Sharptonguedwoman · 24/04/2024 15:41

Keep a bucket of water beside the back door. I there any way you can put a net across the top of your courtyard?

Cat shit can be dangerous for humans. If you have to have one in captivity, do the decent thing and make sure it cannot get out of your property. You may have to spend a bit of money on cat proof fencing but it beats it being harmed by coming into my garden when I've been using perfectly legal chemicals
