Or does this Labour Party meme display all we need to regarding about how they feel about women?

Those silly little women. Apart from the ones with penises. They’re just like us men.

It's a meme template. Untwist your tits.

I bet your favourite film is What Women Want

ThreeFeetTall · 19/04/2024 20:34

It's a bad example of the meme. Here is a better one

ghostyslovesheets · 19/04/2024 20:34

What Women Want - is that the one where Mel Gibson discovers what a woman is by wearing make up and women's clothes?

Giant sea serpents obviously

displays how much free reign probably one social media intern with little experience has been given

Yeah that's a very well used meme. You've massively managed to twist that. It's almost impressive.

Twisted? It’s the photo we’ve all seen before. Published by them with the specific wording - which is new. They really do not like women.

It's a well known meme who anyone on twitter would recognise, it's just the Labour social account trying to engage with a younger audience via this method

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Is that how they think young men and women think these days?

Honestly - it's shit and quiet sexist!

Won't stop me voting Labour though - working with families in crisis I can't allow this show of snivelling twats in for another 4 years.

I agree. I don't like it and I think it's misjudged but it won't alter my vote. I don't see the need for the trans reference in the OP though.

The advert itself is a really terrible one as it looks like it's been written by somebody who hasn't had a normal conversation in their life.

But it's not anti-women.

What they’ve written is offensive and degrading to women.

It shows what an ridiculous meme-obsessed child in its social media department is an idiot. Having said that, a quiet delete would be a good idea. Am cringing.

Yes it is, and it's sexist every time it's used.

You are massively underthinking if you don't see a problem with one of our major mainstream political parties happily and uncritically reproducing the sexist trope that women are shallow snd focussed on men while men think deeply and focus on bigger questions.

If you want to see what someone really thinks about a topic, don't just listen to what they say about it when they are consciously thinking about it, watch also what they say when it comes up in another context. It is illuminating.

Any opportunity for an anti-trans dig.

I'm no fan of Starmer but that's a well known meme. I like how the OP has to get her usual Trans dig in though.

Definitely not a ‘trans dig’. It never is. It is about women and children, and their rights.

Look I have been a party member since 1985 I will be honest - there are a lot of left wing men who don't like women - they don't like to be challenged or pulled up on anything by women - BUT do I think right wing men are better? Nope I think they are worse. Labour still fields lots of women candidates and actively encourages women to stand locally and nationally. My daughters 22 year old friend is standing in the local election coming up.

BUT if you actually really care about women then vote for a party that will improve their lives - will fund healthcare, family support, education, police, social housing, tackle poverty (because it actually gives a shit about it) and improve lives - don't vote Tory just because - what? Rushi decided saying what a woman was is a vote winner - don't be that blind

I agree with that, it's just I don't care what the social media intern thinks 🤷‍♀️
It's cringe I agree but it's not Labour party policy
Here's my favourite version of this meme:

TimeFlysWhenYoureHavingRum · 19/04/2024 20:12

Meanwhile in the real world Rishi Sunak has today announced plans to strip GPs of the ability to sign people off work due to mental health crises. A policy that will disproportionately affect women.

Well women are 41% of the real world, and women’s rights matter. sadly Labour don’t seem to value women, at all.

Wrt to the stripping GPs of power to assess people’s health for work, I agree about that. It’s unworkable bollocks.

bookworm14 · 19/04/2024 20:52

Oh for God’s sake - it’s a very well-known meme format that’s been around for years and crops up on Twitter all the time. Labour using it is a bit cringy in a ‘how do you do, fellow kids?’ way, but it’s absolutely not indicative of anyone ‘hating women’.

It's shite in my opinion because my first reaction was to see it as misogynist - I don't care if it's a "well known" image used in various memes, or if they're trying to be "edgy".

There's an implication that the woman is just thinking suspicious, female thoughts while the man is thinking fine, responsible thoughts.

Yes, that’s exactly how it comes across to me. Bloody awful - silly woman, thoughtful man.

If Paula Barker MP canvasses at my house I’ll ask her what her party is playing at.

There are more choices than Tory or Labour. I’m done with both of them. They are as bad as each other. Neither care about women or families.

Not if you want your vote to actually count there aren’t (the odd Lib Dem area aside, in England anyway).

It’s awful isn’t it. That we don’t, in the U.K., have a viable political party that we would trust to look after women and children.

Actually it’s not ‘awful’, it’s horrific.
