“Advocates of evidence based medicine have criticised the adoption of interventions evaluated by using only observational data. We think that everyone might benefit if the most radical protagonists of evidence based medicine organised and participated in a double blind, randomised, placebo controlled, crossover trial of the parachute.”

Again, link to a specific study you feel should have been included and explain why in your own words, please.

And again note that the OP is seemingly unable to do this, indicating that they are just repeating what agenda-driven activists on Twitter and Reddit say.

I also imagine Cass may be scared of personal impacts

Cass is probably scared of personal impacts now. But not from the side of this debate you mean. It's only your lot that bully and assault women for speaking the truth.

No, the bullying is the other way around.

Oh really?

Can you give an example of a trans person or trans activist being threatened or assaulted by a gender critical feminist please?

Any number of mumsnet threads are evidence of the bullying perpetrated by proponents of “gender critical” ideologies against anyone who dares to say anything that even slightly deviates from the party line.
Anyway this is somewhat of a derail and not really conducive of productive debate.

Are you serious right now?

Dr Cass has been advised by the Police not to use public transport, due to the threats she has received from trans activists.

JK Rowling has received probably more rape and death threats than any other woman alive, from trans activists.

A 70 year old woman was punched by a trans activist at a Let Women Speak event in New Zealand, fracturing her skull, and the perpetrator got off with a mild telling off and lifelong anonymity.

Do you have anything even vaguely equivalent to that from the gender critical side?

Anything at all?

Or just "some people said some mean stuff on Mumsnet"?

Thanks, I was about to post a similar summary of the trans rights activists' tactics, but you beat me to it.

ArabellaScott · 22/04/2024 10:25

OP, thank you for your dedication to the cause. Its really useful to have a live demonstration of the issue running as it all unfolds in the press.

Start thinking now of the reasons you supported sterilising vulnerable children.

Are you serious? trans people have been systematically subjected to gender-related violence for time immemorial all over the world (not to mention having their rights to bodily autonomy and healthcare removed) there are vast literatures documenting this.

Anyway this really isn’t what this thread is about- and picking a fight on these terms is not helpful.

You don't want us to talk about the threats of violence against Hilary Cass or the violence against GC women?

Why did you start a thread about throwing Cass out of a plane then?

Yes I am serious.

I would like to see one piece of evidence of a gender critical feminist doing something equivalent to the three examples I gave above.

If trans people have been systematically subjected to gender related violence for time immemorial all over the world, it should be incredibly easy for you to give us an example.

ArabellaScott · 22/04/2024 10:37

OP means when women refuse to agree that Isla Bryson is a woman they are 'committing violence'.

Personally if I wanted people to believe I was female I would take care not to be convicted of a crime which can only be committed by a male.

ArabellaScott · 22/04/2024 10:40

To be fair, Isla Bryson is every bit as much of a woman as any other transwoman.

you can talk about whatever you please, of course.

I will choose not to engage, ridiculous insinuations like this being a prime example of why doing so is entirely pointless: Why did you start a thread about throwing Cass out of a plane then. 😅

If it were just that the “follow up period was too short” , the tone of the conclusions should have been very different. For example, they could have written - the available evidence shows that access to cross sex hormones improve psychological wellbeing for children .
However, it is unknown how long these results are sustained as there are no studies that measure long term effects
(Btw VERY normal in this type of medical / health research).
Then they could have recommended that therefore cross sex hormones continue to be available to under 18s based on individual assessment of need , but some new longitudinal research. is funded.

other “ pertinent issues” you refer to relate to the methodology - eg - lack of a control group and high attrition.

Shame that the adult GICs weren’t willing to provide long term follow up on GIDs patients, eh?

I would like to talk about why you are determined to "both sides" this, or worse, claim that the bullying is all on the gender critical side, when you cannot produce a single piece of evidence to show that gender critical feminists are engaging in the same threatening, bullying and illegal behaviour that trans activists are engaging in?

You'd think that if they'd done appropriate follow up which showed that the vast majority of former GIDS patients are living happy, fulfilled lives as trans identifying adults and were very happy with the treatment they'd received at GIDS, the GICs would be only too happy to provide that information to Cass.

What is motivating it/ Cass? Gender-critical ideologies and transphobic agendas. I also imagine Cass may be scared of personal impacts and to some extent ignorant of the harm her report is likely to cause (although there’s not much excuse for the later).

Transphobia? Please provide some evidence that Hilary Cass decided to compile her report as a result of transphobia. I thought that she'd been recruited, because of her long career as a paediatric consultant.

Also, please provide some evidence of GC feminists threatening and assaulting trans people.

If you cannot, then surely you must concede that you are wrong?

Edited for a spelling mistake...

No, the bullying is the other way around.

I note you don't use the word "assault", because the assaults have all come from biologically male trans people towards women they disagree with.

Absolutely.

Cass identified the lack of high quality research in the Review’s interim report - her team tried to fill some of the evidence gaps by commissioning more research, research which required a change of law (the amendment to the GRA that Sajid Javid oversaw).

Cass tried to find health, happy GIDs patients in adulthood and the adult GICS wouldn’t allow it.

Every single one of the GICS should be made to reapply for their NHS England contract and to prove their worth with long term, follow up data.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 22/04/2024 11:09

They shouldn't be allowed to opt out.
