Would we get away with this at the hotel?

We are going to Lapland UK in November, it’s 1-2 hours away and we’ve got a really early entry time so we are staying near there the night before - the Legoland hotel as it’s got more child friendly facilities (soft play, a pool, crazy golf, a sensory area) and my DD (8) struggles with a normal hotel with nothing to do.

DD has autism and needs a lot of help and support therefore there is 3 of us adults going as her carers. The family rooms have 4 beds in them, therefore enough sleeping space for everyone, however the rule limits it to 2 adults only per room (despite allowing 3 children per room so it’s not for lack of space). This would mean booking 2 rooms at nearly £150 each, and £300 just for one night is extortionate (all nearby hotels are similar priced due to taking advantage of people staying there for the same purpose as us).

Would we get away with just 2 adults checking in and then us letting the 3rd adult into the room a little while later? Surely people are walking in and out of the hotel and their rooms all of the time and they don’t check where every single one of them are going if they’ve already got their hotel card etc?

Three adults in one room I'd be uncomfortable with. Do you know each other well?

I'd book two adjoining rooms at the Premier Inn.

It’s myself, my grandmother and my sister so yes we’re comfortable with that, plus I’m pretty sure it’s got 2 bedrooms in the one space 😊

Basically aren’t you proposing to steal from the hotel by having someone stay there who isn’t paid for?either you can afford the trip or you can’t afford it. All you need to do is phone the hotel and explain and given the the circumstances I am sure they will agree.

😂😂😂

The room fits 4 people so I’m paying for the room for the exact amount of people, so what are we stealing exactly? 😂 get a grip.

Honestly, I would just do it but booking as 2 adults & 2 children so they are expecting four people.
You get caught (which is unlikely IMO), you just say oh gosh, I never thought, little Jonny couldn't come so we brought auntie Paula. We know there was four beds so never thought about it.

i would do exactly this

Some of these answers are wild 😂 Do you think when people have unexpected one-night-stands in a hotel, they call the hotel first to check if they're allowed??

Just do it, it really doesn't matter, and tuning back in to reality fm for a minute... no-one will care.

Exactly 😂 I’m not a decent or honest person, I’m stealing, I’m being illegal… I’m starting to feel a bit criminal over here 😅

@Shepadoodle that made me laugh. I'd say the hotel staff had a giggle about it themselves.

Robin198 · 12/04/2024 20:22

I've done this many times. You'll be fine. Have a lovely trip!

Yep this is exactly what I’d do

Onetiredbeing · 12/04/2024 20:48

When we stayed there, I can tell you that there is no way that anyone is checking who goes into the rooms. It's pretty busy and there's a lot going on at the reception area. We went in August though so I'm not sure if November might be less busy.

ttcat37 · 12/04/2024 21:13

Just ring them and ask, explain the situation and they’ll probably be reasonable about it. The 2 adults 2 kids thing is probably to stop groups of adults using it for cheap stays for nights out etc. You don’t have to give your details

Wonder if the daily fail picks up on this thread.... or the hotel!

PressStud · 12/04/2024 21:29

Well not if you'd died due to smoke inhalation.

😂

They won’t because in real life, nobody gives a fuck about this kind of thing.

Notimeforaname · 12/04/2024 21:42

We’re only literally going there to sleep anyway and we’ll be out first thing in the morning

DD would struggle to stay in a hotel with no facilities

If you're literally only going there to sleep, why does she need pool, golf, softplay facilities?

BettyShagter · 12/04/2024 21:45

Watercoloursky · 12/04/2024 14:05

If there was a fire, the hotel staff wouldn't know that they had to account for your extra person...

This is blurted out on MNetter's keyboards every single time this thread comes up.

No hotel will be accounting for anyone in a fire because no-one has to sign in and out, every time they want to pop outside.

I suspect she means in terms of eating meals included in the room rate…

BingoMarieHeeler · 12/04/2024 14:19

Also if there’s a fire they’re not going to get exact numbers anyway are they…. Flawed system. More likely the fire fighters will just go in and do their job and make sure all rooms are empty. People will always stay out at night, be out late, get up early, go for an insomnia walk etc. Silly argument really!

Exactly, they're not going to refuse to check room 105 because Deidre on reception swears there's no-one else in there according to her computer records.

Well it's dishonestly obtaining foods/services (you are using the hotel for a service for more adults than you have paid for). So illegal I think.

You may get away with it because nobody notices, and if not I'd be surprised if they pressed charges, much more likely to just require you to pay the extra.

Personally the worry would spoil it all anyway so I wouldn't do it. But that's me, not you!

Press charges? 🤣

Snowfairyxx · 12/04/2024 21:57

Jeez some people are so odd with rules. The staff won't care if there is 4 people in a room with only 1 child. If you are happy to sleep on a smaller bed then that's up to you, they prob just can't advertise it is an adult bed....

PressStud · 12/04/2024 22:02

She isn't eating there. I've often had an overnight guest in a hotel. It didn't cross my mind that I was using the hotel for a service for more adults than I'd paid for. Confused

QuillBill · 12/04/2024 22:04

It's not 'illegal' to have more people in a hotel room than you have paid for. What law could cover that?

MissingMoominMamma · 12/04/2024 22:04

Tacocatgoatcheesepizza · 12/04/2024 14:07

Book it as 2 adults 2 children then the hotel will know how many people there should be and ensure enough beds are made up?

That’s a great idea.

Kijuity · 12/04/2024 22:06

HOTD7383 · 12/04/2024 14:13

We aren’t eating breakfast there, we are eating it at Lapland

There isn't really any breakfast for sale at lapland uk. Just FYI. There's the odd treats and stuff and lunch food available in the village but no breakfast stuff.

I hope you're going to get to go to legoland after lapland, it only takes about 3 hours to go round and legoland is amazing.

I'm sure the police would drop everything and send a team down immediately.

I’ve never actually been before, and DD has only just started realising what Christmas is and understanding it all so I thought this year would be the right time - I’ve heard it’s absolutely amazing though, and it wasn’t that expensive to go as 2 of us got in on carer’s tickets which were half price!

To reassure you lapland uk is fantastic you'll have a great time.

😂😂😂

I think the point is you are paying for 2 adults and 2 children, whilst technically 4 people check the t’s and c’s for what age a child goes up to.

try it by all means but don’t give a load of Afro to the staff if they do pull you up on this. I can’t imagine you’ll be the first to try this kind of thing (I may have done similar in a travel lodge years ago), but this hotel will be aware of the proximity to the Lapland thing and that people will try and sneak and adult in.
