Male celebrity in London today in a pink beret

DD went to Cream Dream ( I know !) Cafe in London today ( she had a fabulous cake ) and was sitting next to a celebrity - Male, 50 + ish,, in a houndstooth jacket, wide trousers and a pink beret. other people asked for a photo, and apparently he was really nice to them, so we know it was someone famous, but who ????

AIBU to ask you all to help work out who it might have been ? ( sorry shoe horned into AIBU as I was hoping for a quick answer !)

We went to see Dexys last year. He was fab. I knew he was 70 but you couldn't really tell. He moved like someone a lot younger. Great clothes too I have to say v

I had to Google Kevin Rowland, much to my shame. Of course I know Dexys songs though, just didn't know the front man's name.

I was really hoping it was going to be Michael Stipe.

I used to really fancy Kevin Rowland when I was a young teen.Went out with a boy who styled himself on him who was a complete dick.Saw KR play at Reading years ago but that was a complete disaster (the strippers on stage did not go down well with the Reading crowd -it was all a bit creepy and a lot of urine was thrown) so good to see him looking so well.I'm now off to Portugal to stalk Captain Sensible who I also had a massive crush on.

I never fancied KR in the day, i was a bit young for fancying. But i do remember seeing him hopping about in his dungerees on TOTP and being quite fascinated with it.

Get real, it was at least a week ago! I had to Google the name though I do recall the song. Do other people get surprised when they realise that as they have aged so as the rest of the world, catches me out all the time? Friends' babies going off to Uni for example!

Yes! Other people's children get 'stuck' in my head at certain ages too.

I have twin nieces who i only see a couple of times a year. Year 2 now (so coming up to 7), running about screeching with all the other nieces and nephews at family get togethers. I'm always shocked to see them because in my mind they're still cruising round clinging to MILs furniture - and that's where they'll stay! 😂

Your dd thinking a 70 yr old is 50 is a compliment to Kevin but not really one for 50 yr olds lol. Good that it was solved as it’s the sort of the thing that can really bug you for days. Judging by the tweed suit I was going to guess Rocco Ritchie but he was far too young.

You are all amazing. I too spent the balance of the evening singing to Eileen.

And, at least on my computer, a trending thread - its a bucket list moment !!! Amazing what a nice man in a pink hat can do - am now moving on to singing Prince songs featuring fruit.
