Is it me? A parking/ boundary one

Ok,I live at the end house of a cul de sac.
I have a big drive.
I obviously have to drive over my neighbours drive to access my property.
For context my drive/ front garden can happily house 5 cars which it does as I have a car, my DH has a van and my boys both have a car.
Which we park on our drive,
Saturday I weeded my front garden.
Reversed my car to overhang the neighbours property by 2 foot
Her car is on her drive 15 foot away so in no way does it impact her access.
She called the police...
They actually came round!
Wtaf?
Yeah they were suitably embarrassed as I sent them away as they obviously knew she is crackers 😂
Hope the photo works 🫰

Eh from that picture it looks like you are parked on the road blocking access to your own drive and the back of your car is in front of her fence?

is there a rule about parking on the road where you live?

if not your are deffo NBU and your neighbour is insane!

lol we don’t know lol because the op is posting as if she’s both pissed lol and hysterical at her own hilarious explanation.
The neighbour may have been driven insane by her over an extended period. Who knows? Could be a film in it.

LucyLaundry · 08/04/2024 20:32

Was anyone else expecting a big house with a big drive to fit 5 cars? Instead of a poky terrace with essential a wide path for a driveway?

VegetablesFightingToReclaimTheAubergieneEmoji · 08/04/2024 20:32

So the back half of your grey merc is on her drive?

rather then have a road running along that you access your property you go along their drive to your drive?

stealthninjamum · 08/04/2024 20:34

Op can you do a plan showing the drives and car positions etc?

Do you have a legal right to go over her drive?

i think it might be one of those things where your family are going over her drive multiple times a day and the fact you chose to park over it without asking was the straw that broke the camels back. For some people there’s a real drip drip drip effect of small things becoming really annoying. I wouldn’t be happy with someone parking on my drive either.

Ok?

😩 all this talk of 15ft drives and driveways big enough for 5 cars. I was thinking that we hadn’t had a diagram because OP was on the phone to ordnance survey commissioning something. This shitty photo has ruined this thread

Hoppinggreen · 08/04/2024 20:37

Nope, I dont get it

RazzberryGem · 08/04/2024 20:38

I'm just as baffled as everyone else. I've heard of culs-de-sac before, I've even been into them on occassion. I've never heard of the custom where you 'obviously' had to drive over anyone else's drive to park.

It's a bit weird to me that with space for 5 cars you felt the need to park over your neighbour's driveway.

I do think calling the police was excessive considering the severity of the crime, however I'm guessing this isnt an isolated incident...?

(And yes, culs-de-sac is the plural for cul-de-sac)

... Also, your picture was shit. "LOL".

marniemae · 08/04/2024 20:31

1 household and 4 cars is obscene - more car sharing needs to happen otherwise parking threads are doing to get more and more common and people frustrated about lack of space

Not really obscene. A couple of adult kids living at home, a lot of places are near any sort of decent public transport, now days most people have to have cars to get to work. Just a sign of the times.

Lindy2 · 08/04/2024 20:39

Fleurdalys · 08/04/2024 20:05

How did this impact her?

Well your neighbour could decide to stand outside your front door singing and say "how does this impact you?"

You'd still be OK in your own home but your neighbour's behaviour would be bloody annoying. Just like yours.

I'm genuinely baffled by your photos and your assumption that it's ok to drive or park over your neighbour's driveway whenever it suits you.

Properties have boundaries and you are supposed to stay within your boundary. If you need to weed your front garden move your car onto the road and park appropriately.

You really sound like a nightmare family to have to live next to.

Bumblebeeinatree · 08/04/2024 20:41

Did you ask? Just need to leave my car there for a while if you don't mind,? Let me know if you need me to move it.

I agree with this, is that her driveway with the fence round??

ageratum1 · 08/04/2024 20:56

I think the OP refers to the road outside someone's house as being 'their drive. Maybe it is an unadopted road belonging to the houses it passes in front of.

Very confusing

If she’s not pissed, she’s on crack

LittleGreenDragons · 08/04/2024 21:13

I don't get the bit about driving across her drive to get to yours on a cul de sac, that's normally a semi circle/crescent shape so there is no need to drive across anybody's property.

Need a diagram OP.

EDIT - You also said you were weeding your front garden...all I see is tarmac Confused

Walkden · 08/04/2024 21:23

Most likely the police were convinced to visit as you were obstructing her drive so she was unable to access the road. I am assuming her access is pretty narrow

Sounds like you were weeding your driveway rather than a garden but I don't think it follows that you can park in whole or in part in front of the neighbour's dropped kerb.

Th n again some people think that their convenience is paramount and everyone else's doesn't matter. Really how much effort would it be to park 2 foot further along...

Fleurdalys · 08/04/2024 21:26

Well you are mostly all very rude and judgmental.
The photo clearly shows my car 2 foot over the " neighbours"
drive
I live to the left
She lives to the right
Im fortunate to have the bigger drive as I'm the end house
Just pissed off i had the audacity to park 2 foot over her drive which in no way stopped her getting her car in and out as her drive is 20 foot away and her car was parked up nicely.
More peeved she called the police and they actually came out for a non offence
Just a bat shit neighbour
Fortunately they agreed with me

How am I obstructing her??
She has clear access
She was cross I dared park 2 foot on her concrete?

But she wanted to weed her drive and move her car, so it was overhanging your drive !
