chamaeleon · 29/03/2008 18:41

yabu. i change my name everytime i think people start to recognise me. i prefer to be anon, even tho no one knows me in rl!

cornsilk · 29/03/2008 18:42

Who's namechanged then?

staryeyed · 29/03/2008 18:43

I do find it very confusing. I never know who anyone is apart form seasonal name changes.

KillerStilettos · 29/03/2008 18:46

I've namechanged

CitroenDrivingFootballMum · 29/03/2008 18:47

i have changed me name teehee

2shoes · 29/03/2008 19:15

but surely if it someone you talk to lots. if they don't tell you........that means they don't like you >>

nametaken · 29/03/2008 19:23

if they don't tell you how do you know they've namechanged?

2shoes · 29/03/2008 19:24

cos they tell someone else. and you think oh!!

OP posts:
fryalot · 29/03/2008 19:24

I know what you mean.

I spent weeeeeeeks feeling all concerned because I hadn't seen someone around for ages.

Turned out they'd changed their bloody name

SlartyBartFast · 29/03/2008 19:35

isnt she Flight now?

fryalot · 29/03/2008 20:14

yes, slarty, I know that now! but she was vera wetbucket or something for a while.

SlartyBartFast · 29/03/2008 20:15

oh, i missed that

fryalot · 29/03/2008 20:17

hee hee, so did I!

Someone started a thread asking where she was so we did get a chance to tell her off, but like 2shoes says, if you haven't been told (or even if you have, but have since forgotten) it is a pita

PeggySioux · 29/03/2008 20:17

I changed my name recently, but I'm not sure if my old name was recognised enough for anyone to notice or care.

ShinyPinkShoes · 29/03/2008 20:19

I've namechanged too

3NAB · 29/03/2008 20:19

I think name changes are pointless. If someone in RL searches on here for your name as they know you, they will find your post saying this is my new name. Therefore will know it is still you.

fryalot · 29/03/2008 20:19

well, peggy, tell us who you were, and we'll tell you if we missed you

fryalot · 29/03/2008 20:20

3nab - sometimes people just fancy a change though.

QuintessentialShadows · 29/03/2008 20:22

2shoes, I am sure they are not avoiding you, but I can see why that would be a bit upsetting.

I have never gone awol under a new name after I settled on this site (and made some friends), I had a few ones before I became StarryStarryNight (then deregistered and had to chose a new one) and became QS.

Incidentally only ONE mumsnetter knows my very first posting name, and I prefer to keep it that way.

SlartyBartFast · 29/03/2008 20:22

i named changed.
fancied a change,
but on one coffee thread someone asked me "who were you"...
i was surprised and felt perhaps I shouldnt have been there.

llareggub · 29/03/2008 20:23

I used to have a different name, and a different one before that. The one I had first was pre-pregnancy, and the second one was during my pregnancy. I think I'll stick with this one now.

2shoes · 29/03/2008 21:42

to be fair 2shoes was my second name as I did join mn with a different one(too like my rl name) but i was sooooo new no one knew me. and when mn is getting to me I change to something with mshadows init. (but say 2shoes on post)

OP posts:
Kindersurprise · 29/03/2008 21:46

I namechanged because my original name had mummy AND numbers

Not that anyone missed me

fryalot · 29/03/2008 21:50

it's because of all the other mummy and numbers names, we never noticed you were gone

Dragonbutter · 29/03/2008 21:51

I used to be platesmasher.
I don't know where wildwoman and cherryredretrochick are anymore.
