This has thrown me. I’ve just seen a TikTok about it. Obviously not a Peter fan but always just assumed he was a decent good guy. Clearly not. I can never ironic Mysterious Girl again

I think you've failed at working towards a coherent point.

Are you quite alright?

You stated it’s vision was to be a news channel featuring the entire political spectrum

The fact it’s been so terribly biased it can’t even call itself a news channel clearly shows that the original vision has failed

The fact they pay Lawrence Fox a salary is deplorable, anyone agreeing to work for GB news is directly and indirectly supporting people like that and Farage.

Hence why people don’t think highly of those who do appear or host programs. Even if they themselves aren’t a compete asshole

cardibach · 07/04/2024 16:46

Iluvteandbiscuits · 07/04/2024 16:44

But it does have news broadcasts on it, and they discuss current news affairs in-between. So people will naturally get news off it as they have legitimate news broadcasts. So yet again you are wrong.

Edited

Eh? I’m really not sure what your point is.
It seems to be they aren’t a news channel but they do present news. So why call themselves GB NEWS ? BBC News, Sky News etc - just news. GB News - mostly not news. Why?

Iluvteandbiscuits · 07/04/2024 16:49

cardibach · 07/04/2024 16:44

Are you confusing BBC News with news on the BBC?
News channels don’t get anywhere near the numbers news bulletins on the main channels get. Most people don’t use them.
And anyway, GBN isn’t a news channel, OFCOM say so. So why, in your opinion, do they call themselves one?

Again as you quite clearly do not understand or deliberately ignoring the FACTS, "GBN isn’t a news channel, OFCOM say so.", OFCOM have never made that decision or said that and never will, GBNEWS itself registered itself as a weekly topical debate programme with OFCOM. They said from day one that they were.

They also have sections of actual news broadcasts, but you don't watch it do you, so you would not know.

You:

Me:
I was in favour of it from day 1, because the original remit was to have news and debate on current affairs featuring all sides of the political spectrum.

Yes I'm quite alright. Glad not to be looking foolish currently. How are you though?

So not a good place to go for unbiased news?
Which is my only point.

Okay so please provide evidence, that their news broadcast sections do not provide unbias news? You know that actual news broadcast with specialist news broadcasters not the presenters.

Sillypede · 07/04/2024 15:12

Having watched porn. It was pretty unavoidable in the 70s and probably even harder to avoid now. I personally think it's damaging for a host of reasons.

Only a bloke would say that watching porn was 'unavoidable'! I was around in the 70s too and I managed it...

OK. It’s fabulous and well balanced.
We both know this is nonsense, but it’s what you want to believe, so crack on. I’ll stop arguing.

Well crack on and have a nice day with you belief that any one who disagrees with you is talking nonsense. For me if some one makes a claim I like them to back it up with facts, but hey ho were all different I suppose.

Have a lovely evening.

Pickledf · 07/04/2024 16:38

Defensive or just stating the truth?

Unless you think the insult ‘Tory wanker’ is a racial slur?

Is that you Angela?

Where did I say anyone disagreeing with me is talking nonsense?
What I don’t like is far right rhetoric dressed up as ‘news’.

OtterlyOverit · 07/04/2024 18:00

And you typed your message today as a grown man - or as I like to say, a bloke?

My point still stands.

Otherstories2002 · 07/04/2024 14:06

Give me a break. White men are not the minority.

It’s still racist.

I'm very happy you grew up in an environment where porn wasn't readily available, where half the boys had access to their dad's porn stash and your daily paper didn't have page 3. Or where the kids at school would sneak in copies of Mayfair and Penthouse to show to curious kids and your weekend job didn't involve counting cash in a room with a porn calendar hanging on the wall.

I didn't, so what point do you think you're making?

GoodfortheGoose · 07/04/2024 18:12

I was a boy in the 70s, not a bloke.

But you're an old white man?

The 70s started 54 years ago. What's your point?

@Laughattheloons Looks like you don't like some one who appears on GB news, but it looks like a majority of viewers dont agree with you. 😂

Vocal abusive intolerant minority, goading the silent majority as per usually.

Edited

Just because ‘most’ people do something, it doesn’t mean it is right though. It does not surprise me that GBN is popular, looking around at people in the UK today. As I told my kids when they were little, just because ‘everyone’ is doing it, you don’t have to follow.

CrawlOut · 07/04/2024 18:40

Iluvteandbiscuits · 07/04/2024 15:19

@Laughattheloons Coming from some one who gets their views and news from TIKTOCK 😜

I'm not the one who should be having a think.

If you are going to keep repeating it, please spell TikTok correctly!

We could house the homeless where? There are no spare homes knocking about. And yes, of course Labour promised to end homelessness, but with no clear plan as to how, and where the money is coming from. Which is pretty typical of Labour. Promise the world, and deliver on nothing.

You think most people are homeless because there aren't enough homes?
That's like thinking people starved in Ireland because they didn't have enough potatoes to eat.

While it's true we haven't built anywhere near enough social housing for decades, nobody is homeless because they can't find housing, it's because they can't afford it. The stats for Nov 2023 show almost 250,000 empty homes just in England. ( that includes Airbnb's left empty for 6 months)

It's a while ago, but if I recall correctly Labour's plan was actually costed, it involved closing down tax avoidance, an offshore tax levy, reversing tax giveaways & charging VAT on private schools.

Part of the strategy was to aquire 8000 homes (it'd have to be more now) as well as fixing inequalities in our system that lead people into homelessness. Levelling the gap between local wages and rental prices etc.

Underthinker · 07/04/2024 19:02

@Sillypede this thread has covered a lot of ground to get from Peter Andre to ending homelessness via the gender debate, free speech and 70s porn.

But these houses are not available. They’re empty for various reasons such as elderly residents in care, airbnbs, second homes, probate. No government is going to go down the route of removing homes from people who own them. There’s so many stages which councils would have to go through to take ownership of these empty properties. The majority of people homeless are not in that position due to unaffordable housing. And Labours costing plans you’ve described won’t come close to taking charge of these 250000 properties. More likely they would increase tax on the the middle earners, because there’s only so much you can squeeze from the top earners, and with the utopia they’ve promised us, their costings won’t touch the sides.
