"who accepts money to regularly go on GB news is not left wing, progressive, or a good person

That is a basic fact"

It's this shit, presented as incontrovertible fact, which damages the left. No one is going to come around to your way of thinking if you persist in calling anyone who doesn't see the world in exactly the same way you do, as a bad person.
All that happens is you alienate people who might have listened to you but got pissed off with the insults and have concluded that they cba now.

TooBigForMyBoots · 07/04/2024 15:57

Ooh, GB "News" not news trying to increase their viewing figures?Grin

I was. Is that all you've got? You obviously didn't deliver the milk from the same dairy I did while still at primary school, the one with the pornographic calendar on the wall (and it wasn't soft porn either).

You really don't like anything which challenges your version of the "truth".

You claimed pornography was unavoidable in the 1970s. I've never watched porn or looked at a pornographic magazine. I didn't read The Sun. Your inability to avoid any of these, which you'd actually have to make a conscious effort to seek out is your problem, not mine.

Iluvteandbiscuits · 07/04/2024 15:52

No ones disputed him being an academic? what are your waffling about. I am talking about the alleged claim about what he wrote, with no evidence to prove he wrote it.

Please do keep up if you want to quote me.

Edited

I'm not sure you've read the whole Hope not Hate piece. He's posting about his own book and thanking his mate for writing the blurb on the back.

Iluvteandbiscuits · 07/04/2024 15:16

Care To name all these white supremacists & misogynists with evidence of what they have said? I look forward to your full dossier and vast amounts of links as proof.

After all claims are pointless without any evidence.

I see Silly can't or won't answer that question. I've never ever watched GB news yet clicking on it a couple of minutes ago brings up a presenter called Nana Akua. Is she racist? Misogynistic? "gammon"?

Exactly and here is a screen shot of GB News right now, for those who wont watch it 😁

What about GB News attracts people?
on this thread posters have been at pains to point out its not- misogynistic, not-racist, mainstream (popular) credentials. So what’s different about it from other news channels or talk shows? It has a right wing agenda right? So obviously the left won’t like it but I’m left wing and it isn’t the agenda so much as my impression of it from their hires like Wootton, Fox etc concluding that it panders to a type of nastiness and bullying. What do you like about it, people who watch it?

You mean Wootton and Fox who have been kicked off, well for starters they always have people of opposing views on and generally have some one from the right and some one from the left on too give two points of view. It does have parts where even I will turn off like Farage as I cant stand the man (but that's not for me to judge), but it does not detract from all the other good sections.

It appears those who refuse to watch it form their opinions from leftwing sources and ThickToc.

If you cannot handle debate or opposing views than i guess you can just bitch about it and never watch it.

That was my truth. I've no idea what environment you grew up in. I'd have to have made a conscious decision to avoid it. Not something most pre and post pubescent boys are likely to have decided, especially in the environment I grew up in. We had a kid on the next block down taking young boys and girls into the garages to give him oral. Could they have avoided that? The woods at the back of the estate had it's own resident flasher.

I never said it was your problem, your problem is your lack of comprehension that the 70s wasn't experienced the same for everyone as it was for you.

You're backtracking. You stated pornography was "unavailable" as if it were a universal truth.

jengachampion · 07/04/2024 15:41

you seem so proud of your racist ignorance.

I am mixed race. So are my children. My daughter is visibly mixed race, like me, but my son is white passing. It makes me so angry that people like you claim to be tolerant and righteous yet are guided by narrow-minded hate - claiming to be tolerant and welcoming of people like me and my daughter while directing slurs and dismissal at people like my son for NO REASON other than how we appear to you.

No. Just no. White men are not victims of racism.

I can't properly answer your question as I never watch it live, but have seen various clips online.

I was in favour of it from day 1, because the original remit was to have news and debate on current affairs featuring all sides of the political spectrum, which I thought was important. I felt there were some topics and views which were off limits at the likes of the guardian and bbc where I usually got my news.

Whether or not it's lived up to that vision I can't say. But I know the people criticising it now sound exactly like the writers criticising it in the guardian as soon as it was announced and before a minute of news had aired - we knew the channel would be far right because it had far right staff, and we knew the staff were far right because they were to appear on a far right channel. What could be fairer than that?

Beefcurtains79 · 07/04/2024 08:14

Stupid thickos, it’s a shame all people aren’t as informed and intelligent as you are.
personally, I don’t even think anyone should be allowed a different opinion from what the BBC tell them.

News shouldn’t be giving you an opinion. News should just report facts. Now, o agree the BBC don’t set the best example with this as the6 are massively pro-government due to their management, but GBNews is worse. So much so that Ofcom say they aren’t a news channel so don’t have to follow all the rules about presenting the news. If anyone is giving you an opinion here, it’s GBN. And it’s nasty far right one most of the time.

2Rebecca · 07/04/2024 16:30

I like Andrew Doyle's Free Speech Nation. Not bothered about Peter Andre. Happy for other people to watch whatever they want. Sounds like a non event. I mainly wondered what a young doctor sees in Peter Andre.

Thats the only person you can come up with?

Well considering it’s now been designated as not a news channel I think it’s safe to say it’s failed in working towards that vision.

Your posts tend a lot to ad hominem. Feels defensive.

Defensive or just stating the truth?

Unless you think the insult ‘Tory wanker’ is a racial slur?

However the one point that makes all your post irrelevant is that GBNEWS despite its name is not a news channel it has never been and never was, GBNEWS is a weekly topical debate programme, with the odd section of news broadcasts.

Even Ofcom has acknowledged this, so no "Ofcom say they aren’t a news channel so don’t have to follow all the rules about presenting the news.", Ofcom did not say this they acknowledged what GBNews has said all along they are a debate program and I quote "Ofcom recognises that, in line with the right to freedom of expression, broadcasters are free to decide the editorial approach of their programmes. We also consider it essential for current affairs programmes to provide opinionated, challenging debate, and to be able to discuss and analyse topical matters, and take a position on those issues.".

So next time you post you may want to just report facts also.

Oh apologies Silly. What you said was How does that change the fact they regularly host white supremacists & misogynists?

Possibly they do. I don't know I've never watched it but guess you must watch a lot . Possibly you find it "unavailable" (like porn") So is Nana Akua a white supremacist misogynist?

Andrew Doyle is a talented performer & writer, he could survive and prosper without the backing of GBnews, he probably brings more followers to them than they do to him.

Yes. As I said it’s not a news channel as per the regulations. So people going to it for news rather than opinions are a bit deluded.

Yes. As I said it’s not a news channel as per the regulations. So people going to it for news rather than opinions are a bit deluded.

But it does have news broadcasts on it, and they discuss current news affairs in-between. So people will naturally get news off it as they have legitimate news broadcasts. So yet again you are wrong.

cardibach · 07/04/2024 16:44

Iluvteandbiscuits · 07/04/2024 14:52

Yet here you are making a post about the vary same channel, it obviously bothers you quite a lot, so actually it is a massive thing too you isn't it.

"Sky News and BBC News also get tiny figures as the majority of people don’t watch news channels they watch their news on main channels" are you saying that sky news and BBC news are not main channels, oh okay. 😂

Carry on....

Are you confusing BBC News with news on the BBC?
News channels don’t get anywhere near the numbers news bulletins on the main channels get. Most people don’t use them.
And anyway, GBN isn’t a news channel, OFCOM say so. So why, in your opinion, do they call themselves one?
