Charge for laundry

Concannon88 · 06/04/2024 15:40

We've got a holiday let and have received a quote for laundry. The list is;

4 x double flat sheets
4 x double duvets
16 x pillowcases
8 x bath towel
9 x hand towel

Price I've been quoted is for washing and ironing and they collect and drop off. I'm just interested in what people think is reasonable to pay. Myself and partner have different opinions.

£35

ComtesseDeSpair · 06/04/2024 15:46

How quick a turnaround? I’d expect anything from £40-£60 if you have several sets in use and so they have several days to fulfil the job, to upwards of £100 if you want same day turnaround.

Mumaway · 06/04/2024 15:47

£20 per bed plus £5 per pair of towels, so £120ish

idontlikealdi · 06/04/2024 15:50

If I send my king size bedding so sheet, duvet, four pillow cases to the launderette for a service wash it's £30 so ££80ish?

Aquamarine1029 · 06/04/2024 15:51

£75.

PicaK · 06/04/2024 15:52

C£16-20 a load. So £80 plus travel. £100 would sound reasonable

JellicleCat · 06/04/2024 15:54

£57 + £10 delivery from our nearest laundry

LostMySocks · 06/04/2024 15:54

Is this an option? So you can provide your own sheets or they will provide? Very common in France.

I think we paid about 10 a bed last time?

Greenflamesburn · 06/04/2024 15:57

2 large washes minimum £12 a wash = £24
16 slips at 25p = £4
8 flat sheet at £1.50 = £12
8 covers at £1.50 = £12
Delivery at £2
Total = £54 ish.
That's going off local prices near me.

What have you been quoted? And what do you think you should pay?

checkedshirts · 06/04/2024 16:00

Ours would 90 pounds ish they charge by set for bedding - 16 for double and by size of towel. Bath are 2.20 and hand 90p I think

Greenflamesburn · 06/04/2024 16:02

Also are you having them starched? As thats another £1.50 a load.
How do you want them packed as beds or all PC/FS/S altogether.
I'm interested in knowing what you and your OH think is reasonable to pay for someone else to wash someone else's dirty bedding that you could do yourself at home.

We can't do it from home, we live 250 miles away. We've received 3 more quotes and they are quite different and I think 3 of the 4 are reasonable he thinks they are all batshit

Greenflamesburn · 06/04/2024 16:15

Get him to take a load of your bedding to be washed and pressed locally to give him an idea of price. Or get him to stand in the kitchen and press your bedding to give him an idea of what he is paying a for at the laundrette.
Where abouts in the country is the holiday let?
If its 250miles away is it north or south to where you are?

fieldsofbutterflies · 06/04/2024 16:17

Depends on the turnaround.

Concannon88 · 06/04/2024 16:19

@Greenflamesburn we are north and its down in Shropshire.

OP posts:
grapeomelette · 06/04/2024 16:30

I pay about £20+ VAT for half that amount. So I would expect to pay £40+VAT. ( I've had holiday lets for 25 years).

TheShellBeach · 06/04/2024 16:31

How much have you been quoted?

TheShellBeach · 06/04/2024 16:33

I'd expect to pay about £80 -90 for that.

Greenflamesburn · 06/04/2024 16:37

Prices I have given are examples of up north. I can imagine it will be more down there. Can you factor a little extra into the holiday price to cover some of the cost going forward?

Caroparo52 · 06/04/2024 16:38

I use professional laundry service. A complete double bed is £16.00. Towels I do myself but they would be £2.50 each. So £106.50 collected and delivered inc VAT.

Concannon88 · 06/04/2024 17:28

So we've been quoted

£90, £105, £125 and £65

Thanks for all input.

Greenflamesburn · 06/04/2024 17:33

@Concannon88
Are any of them little independents? Personally I'd try to support them so long as there quote wasn't the £125 one.

TheShellBeach · 06/04/2024 17:34

And your husband thinks they're all far too much?

PickledPurplePickle · 06/04/2024 17:35

They all seem reasonable to me

We were quoted a lot higher for our house

Pinkpinkpink15 · 06/04/2024 17:37

idontlikealdi · 06/04/2024 15:50

@idontlikealdi

But it's a lot more linen & towels and she wants it ironed too. do you really think yours would do it for £80?
