Charge for laundry

We've got a holiday let and have received a quote for laundry. The list is;

4 x double flat sheets
4 x double duvets
16 x pillowcases
8 x bath towel
9 x hand towel

Price I've been quoted is for washing and ironing and they collect and drop off. I'm just interested in what people think is reasonable to pay. Myself and partner have different opinions.

£57 + £10 delivery from our nearest laundry

For 4 duvets,4 sheets, 26 pillow cases washed AND ironed, plus all those towels??

Pinkpinkpink15 · 06/04/2024 17:44

@Concannon88

Well, I'd be handing him your bed linen & towels this weekend & tell him when he's done (including ironing to guest standard) he can let you know just how cheaply he'd do 4 sets for!

🙄🙄🙄

ThinkingAgainAndAgain · 06/04/2024 17:47

I think even the highest quote is quite reasonable, as they’re picking up and delivering back too.

Exactly. Hes never ironed anything in his life. Hes happy to buy new clothes instead of though

@Concannon88

then he's forfeited any say in the matter!

I'd start with the cheapest & see how it goes.

just had a thought though, presumably you'll have someone there cleaning & making up the beds etc. are they not interested in doing it? Can't recommend a service?

mitogoshi · 06/04/2024 19:54

£80-100 based on my laundry lady's prices though a discount for regular use, however is assume you have two full sets so they don't have to turn it around in 6 hours!

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 06/04/2024 19:58

£65 seems a steal! 4 full sets of bed linen plus all the towels, collected, washed, dried, ironed, returned, bargain.

Concannon88 · 06/04/2024 20:03

@Pinkpinkpink15 we had it with an agency, who covered everything, but they've just increased their prices, so we are barely breaking even and the holiday let is actually to cover my grans care home costs so we are going it alone to try to keep it going. So far we've found a cleaner who is great but she doesn't do laundry, which is fair enough.

Sometimes if you can find a decent cleaner, they will do it at home. I used to charge £10-15 per bed set depending on size. £1 a towel.

Hotchick1972 · 06/04/2024 20:18

I’m in the south east and charge £20 per double set so £80
the towels would be £30 (2 x large load)
(don’t forget to include bath mats and tea towels in quote) I won’t and don’t overload machines as items do not wash properly

I wash at 60 degrees - and use good quality professional washing powder

linen is ironed on professional flatbed rollers

sets are returned wrapped in biodegradable poly wrap individually

laundrette utility costs are astronomical

@Concannon88 oh that's a lot of pressure!

I hope you get the laundry @ anything else sorted quickly.
