This thread has made me start watching Thermomix videos on YouTube. Uhoh! Are they really as good as they look?

My list:
Roomba
Ninja Foodie
Kenwood Chef - had this for over 30 years and I love it.
Heat pump dryer
Dishwasher
Ring doorbells and cameras
Philips Hue lighting

Is there something special about Meaco? Our dehumidifier has done nothing.

My Meaco will gather 20L of water over a day or two.
They're very, very good.
I don't understand what you mean by yours does nothing. It collects water, right?

20L of water in a day or 2 , where do you live ? In a swimming pool ! 😮

Yes of course you can - the one I kept coming back to.and ending up deciding to buy was this Comfee 3 Place Setting one:

COMFEE' Mini Plus Dishwasher TD305-W Compact Table Top Dishwasher with 3 Place Settings https://amzn.eu/d/97DOULC

Thank you @MoonlightMemories , I will have to measure my plates as they are quite big but if they fit this will be added yo my amazon wish list 🍽🙂

Can't think of anything that's improved my life. The ring door bell is good as I can speak tonthe postie and get him to leave parcels saying I'm in the toilet even when I'm not😊

I just watched someone doing a video comparing Thermomix with Tokit. I would love one, but the price scares me!

Right? I was just telling ds1 about how amazing it sounds but when I mentioned the price it was all, blah, blah, blah and something about paying for university top ups🙄🙄
😂

When people say heat pump dryer do they mean a condenser dryer?

Offcom · 02/04/2024 16:22

Not very seasonal but a couple of winters back I bought an electric blanket and it is easily one of the best ways I've spent £90.

Coastalcreeksider · 02/04/2024 16:32

Electric blanket, I'd forgotten that.

I can turn off the heating earlier once I switch it on, even if it gets a bit chilly, I know I will be toasty as soon as I get into bed.

Cost me £16.99 from Aldi and has been used every night so far. It's wonderful. Probably the best money I've spent for a long time.

I got a heat pump dryer (my first ever dryer) 2.5 years ago and it literally changed my life. I can do bigger wash loads because I don’t have to worry about where to hang everything. I can get more washing done in a day. My towels are super fluffy. I don’t have a house full of laundry. It’s amazing.

I am currently you before you got the dryer 😞.

I have considered it before, the reasons I have not are the running costs. I do two loads a day, will that cost a fortune?

Also, I currently have a washer dryer but never use the dryer. It takes away the smell of the fabric conditioner. Will a heat pump dryer do the same or does your washing smell of Lenor etc?

DoYouSmokePaul · 02/04/2024 16:40

We managed to justify our Thermomix because we got interest-free finance and committed to at least one fewer takeaway a month (going from 2 a month to one a month) which was equivalent to the monthly repayment. And we’ve only got takeaway twice in the 6 months we’ve had it so far which is even less!

I am also very lazy and hate the faff of cooking and was becoming reliant on UPF pasta sauces etc. Wanted to make the change to cooking from scratch but couldn’t be arsed. Then SIL happened to become a TM consultant and I went along to her first demo to support her. Came away planning to buy the thing 😅 Luckily DH trusted me how ace it is and we both love it.

bilgewater · 02/04/2024 16:41

Dishwasher, definitely, but it's been nearly 25 years now so not a new thing. DH insisted when we moved in together. How right he was.
More recently (but still a decade ago so still not new) a plumbed-in American fridge with ice/water dispenser. Just brilliant.
Boiling water tap (although sadly ours is broken at the moment).
Lightweight Miele hoover
Electric blanket
Kenwood mini food processor ( mine is an inherited 70s one) where everything goes in the dishwasher. I stick to one basic blade which is great for making pastry, biscuits, quick cakes, chopping veg etc
Old fashioned drip filter coffee machine so I can have a jug on the go all morning

Am generally quite gadget resistant, but those have been the ones to stick.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 02/04/2024 16:44

Weighted blanket. I wake up feeling refreshed now.

Robot vacuum (Eufy) is 2nd place but number 1 is a Meaco dehumidifier, we get a lot of condensation and used to struggle with mould on walls and this winter we have had none!!

Me too, Meaco dehumidifier, air fryer, also ninja soup maker.. makes lovely soup in a fraction of the time 😊

TheKeatingFive · 03/04/2024 18:38

I have two dishwashers. Life changing.

I'm also very grateful to my Dyson air wrap

LoobyDop · 03/04/2024 18:41

Bean to cup coffee machine
Smart sockets so I can go to bed and then turn the lights off, and vice versa
Not really a device, but the pump we added to the shower

Have the Meaco ABC 12 litres also had the Ebac, had that ebac 12 litre one 10 yrs on 24/7 in my cellar. Both are brilliant brands.

No! Heat pump dryer uses the warm air in the room, that’s why they say don’t use in a shed or garage. I want one but they are pricey.

Ninja soup make & it self cleans to a point but I still leave it to soak! Makes beautiful soup though & other stuff too

We have smart sockets Tapo & Tardo for the turning heating on & off from anywhere in the world ( if we went anywhere of course) also tells you how cold the rooms are, if there’s a chance of humidity causing damp, lets us know to put the heating up

SergeantDawkins · 04/04/2024 22:10

Oh I remembered another one. A sonic toothbrush! Mine’s a Suri. It’s amazing

Slow cooker - less stress for when I'm working in the office.
WiFi kettle - has transformed my husband life as he gets up v early in the morning for pain killers (turns it on via app).
Automatic car- better for DH as he has RA.
Dehumidifier as the air in the house is much better.
