My automatic car is the best thing ever.

A spoon rest for cooking! For years I used a folded piece of kitchen roll, which would then stick to the utensil and be a PITA! I've since bought another to leave the kitchen brush on. I throw it in the dishwasher, so easy to clean too.

A butter dish. No, I don't work for dunelm, they just both happen to come from there! I'd always assumed butter would go mouldy or rancid, but even in our hot kitchen, it keeps for weeks and makes spreading 1000x easier.

Spectrum Silicone Spoon Rest | Dunelm

Available in a choice of colours, this non-slip silicone spoon rest is stain and odour resistant and is safe to use in the dishwasher...

Recently bought a brand new car after 10 years with my old one, it has remote climate control and a heated steering wheel, I don't know how I ever survived without them!

Devilsmommy · 01/04/2024 21:52

Hot water dispenser. When my little one was tiny it was so much easier and saved a load of time being able to make up a bottle with the perfect temperature water. Now he doesn't have bottles it means I can have it set for my cuppa temperature, no kettle boiling here😊 I'm a 20+ tea and coffee a day person

Interested by the robot vacuum comments - they've never appealed to me.

I have two dehumidifiers - a Meaco and a regular type. They make a big difference, and I don't really have a damp home.

dizzydizzydizzy · 01/04/2024 22:00

Beans to cup coffee machine. OMG it is so lovely to have constant access to fantastic coffee.

Dyson air purifier/heater/fan. Sorts my allergies out and saves me £££ on heating.

jay55 · 01/04/2024 22:02

Tempur mattress. Sleep is so much better and fewer aches and pains when I wake up.

Isthismyforever · 01/04/2024 22:03

Lakeland heated airer. Life changing

ThinkingAgainAndAgain · 01/04/2024 22:03

More recently, the cordless vacuum cleaner. Nice and light and no longer feels like a faff to run the vacuum cleaner around for a few minutes.

When DS was born 16 years ago, a sat nav absolutely changed my life. I’d just no moved to a new area, seven months pregnant, knew not a soul, and met a group of women through NCT. They all lived within a five mile radius of my new home, and we would meet at different houses on rotation. I could just put the addresses into the sat nav. I have no sense of direction, even when I know an area, and I didn’t know this one. Without the sat nav, I just wouldn’t have been able to get to these meet ups, which meant a huge deal to me when DS was small.

We Didn’t have a dishwasher growing up, not until we moved to a new build when I was 14yo and there was one in the already installed kitchen. It was the height of luxury to me then, and I’m still in the honeymoon phase 35 years later. I silently thank it each and every time I unload.

ScroogeMcDuckling · 01/04/2024 22:06

car, all my toys in the kitchen, dishwasher, washing machine, slow cooker, soup maker, toasty maker especially. I love gadgets xxx

Living the dream!
Am I right I'm thinking that these can't be used on blondes?

It works best on a dark hair/fair skin combination. I'm blonde and fair skinned, but my leg hair was darker (mid brown) so it took a bit longer to work than black hair/white skin, but it's been worth the effort.

PieonaBarm · 01/04/2024 22:11

My Mum used to say she'd get rid of the car before the dishwasher!

Elebag · 01/04/2024 22:12

Shark cordless stick vacuum.
Ring doorbell.

A second freezer in my garage.
My kitchen fridge freezer holds regular stuff but my garage freezer holds all my batch cooking and joints and loaves.

roastedrapidly · 01/04/2024 22:13

Heated airer

ButtockUp · 01/04/2024 22:14

Oh , and my bread maker . Wouldn't be without it.

Fookintired · 01/04/2024 22:17

Mine is my coffee machine a Delonghi one, which I've already had to send off to be fixed after two bloody months. It's back in working order and continues to bless our lives, especially in a morning.
Husband got an air fryer and I haven't used it yet. It's like I've turned into my grandad, who didn't like technology or change in general.

Another vote for the beloved Ninja, plus I adore my sous vide - chuck a vac packed cheap cut of meat in for 8 hours and it comes out like Wagyu! Also the Philips pasta maker, I used to make pasta from scratch before a bunion op made standing agony so this was an inspired pressie.

Love my dishwasher. Coincidentally I have two family members who both adamantly refuse to get a dishwasher. They both have space in their respective houses for them, can afford to buy one, but don't want one. They both also recently renovated their respective kitchens, one of which included a massive extension being done. Neither included a dishwasher as part of their (expensive) renovations. I pointed out that they both live in large family homes and that a dishwasher would be a highly desirable feature when they look to sell and downsize in the future. Both individuals are adamant that it isn't necessary, and if people were just not so lazy then they wouldn't need dishwashers 😐 I don't think a lack of a dishwasher will make their homes impossible to sell, but I knew if I was a buyer looking to buy a family type home, not having a dishwasher would irritate me and would be the first thing I installed!
